This is sublime! I've admired the Duke of London brand for a few years now and seeing it now and hearing the story behind the operations is amazing. Cheers for the podcast and walk around Sam, bloody good podcast!
I always love seeing stories like these, because it just reminds me that, if you know what you're doing and are passionate about it, age, money etc is no barrier to making awesome things happen!
A great extra video sam. Well done. What we need a change. We all like tony but kind one side or the other. This guy work and breaths cars of classic years to new
Awesome video Sam. Always wanted to see DoL in a bit more detail and learn more about how Merlin created it all, seems like a great guy. Just love the mix of cars and random decor dotted around the place. I need attend a classics & cake in the near future!
I love these insights! Entrepreneur journeys are the best to know of and can really give advice and motivation to the audience I think. So thank you for this Sam!
That place exudes cool and that young lad is cool AF as well..! It all looks effortless. My first job was working for a private classic car restorer and I’ve never had another job I enjoyed as much! It really becomes a lifestyle while you’re not looking! GREAT EPISODE SAM!!
The Romance of the place and inhabitants, just amazing, and the name of the propietor, Merlin, rather fitting, could open up an outfitters on site for the coats, thank you all involved!
This guy is inspirational, working hard and doing his own thing making something legitimately awesome, well done! Can't wait to see an episode on the main channel, but this Bonus episode was rad!
Yeah that felt more like a video for the main channel, still amazing mind you, I do love both your channels. I think the podcasts should be done in the studio and this format left for the stg channel.
Sam! I know you’re probably not looking for more cars at the moment BUT, if you can, you should absolutely borrow either the red Spitfire or the white TR3 behind you at the end! They are an absolute delight to drive and really cheap, if you’re still thinking about a classic ;) Anyways, really enjoyed this and the rest of the content lately! Keep up the good work!
James Bishop Smith I worked summer holiday sweeping my dad’s workshop and making diabolical cups of tea then bought said Peugeot for £32 🤷🏻♂️ no silver spoons here kid
Duke of London fair enough mate. Just actually listened to the podcast. Fair play to you. It’s easy to judge , can’t blame me . I’m sure you would assume the same thing on face value.
Can endorse what he says about the pizza restaurant. The Ealing venture was tiny and constantly oversubscribed. These Neapolitans really know what they’re doing. Has a vague link to the Pizza Pomodoro chain.
A digital era Arthur Daley :-) Come back when the Pizza bar opens Sam... an new era ecosystem for small businesses...it has to happen traditional showrooms are becoming a thing of the past.... look at Geneva..!!
So I passed my driving test around 14 years ago around abouts when you were 11 and my first car was a 205. It was around £900 and that wasn't a bad price for a half decent one back then. I can't believe you could buy a 205 for 32 quid. I paid more for a stering wheel from a 205 gti out of a scrap yard.
Lloyd perry it had no steering rack, plenty of rust and was destined for the scrap heap having already been off the road a few years. Took a while to get it sound seems as I was still a feckin kid and once it was done I sold it for a measly profit. And for what it’s worth - it was £32.01 I paid for it. It was red and stank of piss. Good old early days of eBay
Relatively erudite and good looking and white. Dad in trade who cud do up shitty motors. Believing own hype is important though. Well done lad. Keep going strong.
Sorry but this kind of content isn't meant for a podcast, most people listen to podcasts, you have to watch this. Don't see the problem of editing this thing for a video for STG without the test drive
Dear everyone, if you start working at such a young age you will end up looking at least 10 years older than actually, you are. If you don't believe me see the guy in the video :D
His age is only relevant if he started from scratch otherwise it's a young lad continuing or developing his parents business. The real hard part of any enterprise is starting with absolutely nothing.
But he did. Why the fck do you all think lad dad is rich? He literally came from fuck all, only advance he got was because his dad restores classic car bodies and he got to learn the trades early on and make some coin from young.
Duke of London same props I’d give trump. Trump started with a small million pound loan but look what he turned it into. You had a head start but did a great thing with it
