I have an 07 Crewmax 5.7 L tundra with over 500,000 & still runs the same as when I got it the engine never dies !!!!! Never had a problem only thing I’ve done to it is oil changes
Gerardo, would you recommend getting one at 250 k miles 08' Crewmax 5.7 L tundra around 6.5k ? we just bought land and I wanna user as hauler/plower , not a daily driver?
@@GeneralCondom as long as everything else is in good condition and has been well kept up, I'd say go for it, try and negotiate it down a little but still good.
I have a Tundra with 250k. Most trouble free truck/vehicle I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. The engineering and durability Toyota built into these trucks makes it hands down above and beyond the competition. And I’ve had them all so I speak with experience! I know people knock them and don’t believe the hype...all I say to them is you truly have to own one. Then you’ll understand.
Most modern vehicles are reliable now. My 2009 Dodge Ram, an FCA product which has the worst reliability record, is mostly problem free at 164K miles w/ the 5.7 Hemi. It has a bit of valve noise now, the passenger rear electric lock failed, some burned out halogen bulbs all replaced, belts and pads and rotors and tires and all that good stuff replaced, but otherwise just regular fluid changes.
Oh well, it does have one other issue in that I think the suspension bushings are worn out, as it doesn't feel as tight as it used to, and the air conditioning fan on it still blows cold and everything but is a little noisier than when it was new. Otherwise perfect, and certainly never left me stranded or had any major problems.
I have a Tundra SR5 2008 with 185,000 and never got me a problem. I drove it from San Francisco to my hometown Guatemala . 4,300 miles trip. I'm planning to keep my truck for many years
Wish mine was as dependable. Just purchased it 3 weeks ago with 121k miles and it went into limp mode on me and wouldn't go faster than 30 mph on a hwy where the speed limit was 70. Pissed me off. Most dependable trucks my ass.
@@GoGoOpie Funny you just say you bought one? Out of thousand or comments I've read about Tundras I've never read a comment where the owner didn't state what year model & most the time package that have before they give praise or complaint - My quess is your another brand owner - I'm a farmer & own all the brands both gas & diesel & could mention I've had good & bad problems w/ them all - I'd have to say my 2008 Tundra SR5 5.7L w/ almost 200,000 miles has been one of the most trouble free trucks I've ever owned - It's not a ton truck which I have several in Ford, Chevy & Dodge but If I had to pick only one for a kinda does everything pretty well it would be the Tundra - My channel pic is my youth pic I'm 60yr old now & wore out a few trucks in my time - Cheers to this young fellow for making an honest video!
Yes there was a guy Louisianna that worked with an oil company , he would deliver 55 gallon drums and oils , he had 1 million miles they toyota local gave him another tundra for free,,,,, they tore it down and found nothing wrong
There are 2 documented 07s with over a million miles both out of the same dealer in Louisiana. Both driven as Hot Shot oil ind loads. Both of these are on You Tube.
I'm amazed that a truck with over a decade of salt exposure still has a rust-free body. I've painted cars for years & have seen trucks from the other manufacturers with major issues as early as three years old. These Toyota trucks are understated.
Just got my 4Runner to 100k HARD miles. Ski trips every weekend, thousands of miles on washboard road, shitty Colorado roads and it still runs like new
Bro keep this truck forever. I have a 08 crewmax 5.7L, and it is definately over built. I feel it's a heavy half ton capable truck! Or even a 3/4 ton. The only thing I would change is bigger leaf springs. Anyways always a pleasure to hear good positive feedback.
I too have a 07 Toyota Tundra with 240,000 and still runs like new. hauled cars, wood, water tanks, drove through bad rocky and sandy roads but still runs great!
Weird thing about gas truck owners I've noticed. Ford, GM, and Ram owner's aren't nearly as enthusiastic about the longevity of their trucks. Every Tundra owner (myself included) I've met looks forward to hitting that 200k+ on the odometer.
That's because at 200k on an American, you're flirting with fire. 200k on a tundra is the break-in process. I know several guys in Tundras over 600,000 just doing regular maintenance.
chris thompson I own a small company with a fleet of 15 07-13 gm 1500 all have over 300,000 miles now. We typically trade them in at 400,000. we have ran other manufacturers but our cost seems to go up
guy proulx we rotate the trucks the routes once they reach a certain mileage. I won’t send a truck with 350,000 on a 1000 mile two day round trip. So 250,000 miles they’re no longer running 3000-4000 miles a week
Ive got a '17 tss offroad Sr5.. still low mileage at 70k.. I plan on driving the thing until the wheels fall off. I will do all the proper maintenance too in including servicing the trans. BUYING A TUNDRA IS AN EXCELLENT INVESTMENT DECISION.
I have the one with 4.7L, 310k miles, feel the same, never let me down, all original except alternator and transmission wire both went out around 290k.
@@Smooney349 this is encouraging, as I just bought a 2008 Tundra with 210k miles on it. The guy I got it from was the 2nd owner and he has every Toyota maintenance receipt from the dealer. hoping mine lasts this long
My 03 F-150 can beat that. Original engine and transmission 387,000 miles and runs silently and shifts perfect. It's a 5.4 2 valve. This was an electric contractor's truck. Alot of highway miles and some decent loads. I bought it at 322,000 and the only thing that actually broke was a heater hose. There are alot of 97-03 F-150s around everywhere. Some look like they've been through hell and back , some look really good. Mine actually is still in good shape.
I got 2010 tundra with 232k miles. No issues at all except being not fuel efficient. Use to have 06 Tacoma, sold it at 110k miles cause start having problems with rear axle, bearings and brakes. It was great on gas though, 20.5 mpg
@@manchanical2649 good, except I wish I had a larger gas tank. It tows my RV, takes me fishing and skiing, and does the occasional run to the dump. I’ve got 144km on it now, and I’m thinking about replacing the shocks and brakes after this camping season is over.
Toyota and Lexus vehicles are the best. My lexus ls430 2001 has 303000 miles. Original alternator and alternator and transmission and engine. Replace spark plugs oil changes replace timing belt 2 times serpentine belt pulleys replaced twice. Radiator replaced at 250000 miles. Brakes pads replace several times. You car barely hear the engine running at idle. Never left stranded. You can't beat Toyota reliability.
I have owned all the big three pickup trucks, most purchased new. I finally left GM due to horrendous build quality in my 2014 Chevrolet. My 2015 Tundra TRD 4x2 is the only vehicle I have ever owned that never required any warranty work be done. It has 93,000 miles and has only needed one set of brakes. Trust me, I am very picky and if anything needed done at dealer I would have made them fix it..... nothing breaks. It is the best truck I’ve ever owned and look forward to 200k miles plus. How impressed am I? We now have 3 Toyota’s in the driveway now, none have had any issues to date. Thank you for the great candid video!
I have a '10 double cab 5.7 with 277K, my dad bought it new. Just had all timing chains and tensioners done and it runs like new. Tows like a beast. Best trucks hands down
@@larryc1964 277k miles, it was about $6500 total, but i also had them replace the radiator, alternator, spark plugs, and water pump while they were in there because you have to take the whole front cover off the engine. It sounds like alot, but it got all the engine power back, and i had done the research on the million mile tundras, and they had changed the timing chain on them twice.
2021 newbie here. 4x2 Limited Crew Max. Only 38k miles but I’m embarking on a towing vacation in a week pulling a 2016 Wolf Pup camper 4k lbs. Needless to say I’m not worried. 🤣😎
Mine is a 08 tundra XSP 211k, it's a pleasure to drive it, it feels better than newer trucks. Is a beast that I'm planning to pass to my son in 12 more years
Thanks for your take on your awesome Tundra. I’ve got an 18 crew max Cement gray.. damn nice truck . Toyota engineer s do not make it easy to come up with reason to get rid of these things.they know their stuff!!
Josiah 87 I’ve never seen a rav4 off road. I’ll look it up. I like the Tacoma’s and 4runners too but they are also expensive. I need a truck bed tho. I have a kayak and a dirt bike. The dirt bike hitch carriers are cool but not good for off road. I may have to wait a year to get a truck. It sucks but I can’t handle all the debt it’s stressful
@@kyjelly5524 I've been impressed with mine. I've gone up sketchy atv trails. The newer rav4 has a diff lock option also so it's like all wheel drive. Just need to lift mine a bit and get at tires
I had a 1969 Chevy truck. It had 295,000 miles on it when I sold it and it was still running !!! I now have a 2004 Toyota Tundra. It has 158,000 on it now. And I do expect to get even more than 250,000 on it. My point is that if you maintain and repair almost any vehicle, you can make it last indefinitely.
I guess it's what you're willing to tolerate. Maintaining an American truck will cost you twice as much or more per year, increasing over time. Off the lot, Tundras are generally cheaper or around the same price point. Your 69 Chev is not the same conversation....that was back when Chevy still gave a shit!
@@corywilliamson6238 .. nobody knows what a 2019 Chevy will be like in ten years. I do know plenty of people with F 150's and silverados with over 200k miles. Problem is rust, not always mechanical. If you get a decade out of any truck I'd say you are doing pretty good, and that is totally possible with anything, but a Ram lol.
My dad has a f250 and he has problems with it, steering wheel is pealing, dash is warping, the flat screen has problems, the suspension is already worn out after 79k miles, the tundra we have is at 300,000 something and the suspension is starting to wear out. If that shows how good toyota tundra are
Bro my 06 Tundra has 215,000 on it rite now, only thing I did was change the timing belt, serpentine belt, and the water pump obviously and it runs like a beast, always do my oil changes on time with fully synthetic I love it, I've had an 06 Dodge Hemi back when it was brand new and an F150 also but neither held up like the Tundra 🤔
I just bought an 07 reg cab short bed trd of road 4x4 with 120,000 miles or 190,000 km. It’s Oct of 2021 and I’m thinking this thing will go 400,000 or more if I keep it up with reg maintenance and synthetic oil every 5000 km or 3000 km!
I live in Florida in America I know Toyota trucks are immortal people say the tundra gets terrible fuel mileage though but is there a way to increase fuel efficiency on the 5.7l tundra I'm eventually getting one and I'm curious I'm getting the 1794 edition
I bought a 2021 1794 trd it has about 8000 miles on it I live in Florida. I cant get over 15 mpg combined. It's a dinosaur but its our travel vehicle I need reliability for long trips not concerned about mpg. I think It will get better mpg's when the motor loosens up down the road. I hope that does not deture you from your decision. I owned Dodge, Chevy, GMC, and Fords. They all gave me issues, I dumped my 2019 for raptor with only 11000 miles on it. Started having cam phaser issues not going threw all that BS only to have it come back. Tundra is not the flash fun truck I had hoped for in my retirement but at least I know it will get me and my wife home from the mountains or the boat back from the ramp. Good luck
any advice on buying a used double cab 5.7L Tundra (for work, but will maintain its condition well), in terms of price vs KMs? I'm not sure if I should spend ~$10k on a decent but not great condition 230xxx+ km 07-08, ~$15k on mint 07-08 in 160xxx km range, ~$15k on 2011 w/ 265xxx km, or $20-25k+ for 90xxx-130xxx km 2012-2015 - Rough numbers, in Ontario area for the past month.
Just R Well be honest not much in these trucks have changed since 07. Same drivetrain and interior space. I would go for the mint 07-08 for 15k I think.
@@workplaytv Thanks for the reply. That's what I was thinking as well. I heard the 07-08s had a recall for rusted out frames and extended warranty for air injection pump replacement
Sweet looking trucks. I saw what looked like a blue tundra in the background hooked up to a trailer? Is that yours too? I heard you say you had a few trucks and I remember the f550...im putting money down on my ‘19 f250 lariat diesel tomorrow
Work&Play TV I am excited!! My 2018 f150 is going to be bought back by Ford so I’m glad about that. Can’t wait to move up to the 6.7! Also, check your wiring harness on the passenger side and make sure it’s not rubbing against the EGR cooler...it will rub right Thru casing and short the injectors causing stall or rough losses of power. lol I know for 19 they made that not rub anymore and put a seal of inspection around that harness from factory. I saw mine has that sticker and doesn’t get close. This applies to any 6.7 pickup before 19 so check the 550 too.
I have similar truck but mine is a 2012 with 140k miles and l love it I was a GMC guy before it's not even fair to compare them the tundra is night and day better than the sierra..
I have 08 double cab tundra 5.7. Love it, like the longer bed with double cab. But, ive had less than a year and have had a bit of bad luck. Had to replace electronic module, it would crank but wouldnt start. After 6.tries it would usually go. That was 1300 bucks. Only Toyota could do the work. A week later my radiator went out. 460 bucks. I also had to replace half shoe axle leak. Parts don't last forever, so im hoping it goes a while now. I have 151k miles on it. Had 3 chevys previous.
Do you still have the Tundra? Considering a new one as they have good rebates currently and I can get a good price in addition to that. Looking for a truck that will last 300k kms plus and not be a piece of junk afterwards.
I'm a die hard Dodge Ram\Ram guy but I want a Toyota Tundra so bad and always have! If I could find one here in Louisiana for a good price then I would definitely finance it but good luck with that lol (meaning me)! I want the '07 or '08 double cab 4×4 Tundra in the color green, blue, silver or white! 😎👍👌💪🤞🏆
Any Bed rust problems I’m in Ontario and will be looking for a used truck this summer. I have been reading online that 07-13 tundra bed rust in the corners
I have 2015 Toyota tundra Louisiana edition crewmax sr5. It have 54,3021 miles and still run just like when I first got it. And I took off my stock 20" rims and put some 24" rims on it. I use to drive Chevy cars and trucks for 14 years and i would have something brake on them or have a lot of recalls on them. I gave up on Chevy after i got the 2014 it had 5 recalls and my leaf springs started squeaking.
did you ever get transmission serviced when you had this? like changing the fluid? called toyota in Moncton but they said they dont service the transmission, some sort of lifelong fluid BS, but ive read online it should be changed anyway.
@@workplaytv i remember seeing you say that, wouldnt go into 4wheel drive, something about ABS sensors and all that being messed up? im looking at a 2015 with 137k kilometres, i dont drive much maybe 5k a year so wondering if it would last me years lol
my 2011 limited 5.7 has been my daily for like 5-6 years now got it with 22k miles got 150k now oh and also i live in eastern KY i always hunt, camp ,hike, haul & travel in it as well. I've spent alot of gas money but never been stranded or stuck. Gonna do timing chain and air pumps along with full maintenance overhaul at 200k should have it the rest of my life I assume!
man i got like tan/wood grain interior and goddamn do i wish i had your silver/black! wish to god they made these things in 6 speed manuals i hoped it would be like an old 22re tacoma and its just been a beastly version of it check out these precision fit carhart seat covers really expensive but highly worth it www.precisionfit.com/us/en/shop/2011-toyota-tundra/
Tom S Hey man. I will have to check for you when I get back from working on the road. I have a back rack on mine but I will measure to see if it will fit. I believe my door is atleast 8 feet.
EVIL Co. Haha yeah I mean they both have their advantages. I also have a 550 with the long wheel base and I tow 30,000lbs on a reg basis and it’s rides great because of the long wheel base! Love it! For a pickup or 250/350 class for me the 6 3/4 is what I want.
Tom S I just measured and it would be very tight. That said I have 20 inch wheels with 35 inch tires. Depends on what you would have for tires and shit.
And the rear diff air injection pumps I like these trucks but not what I expected over 3 years had cost a fortune to keep on the road hope the new Ford does better
