Happy birthday Arty! Congrats on a quarter of a century. This video will definitely be on my to-watch list, as I am a very big Disney fan. I lived throughout all of the 1990s and grew up with a lot of Disney films with my brother. I'll comment back once I do watch the video ;)
This was a fun video, with a great ending. Oh, and if you want to know about my opinion… 1. Personally, I absolutely love Madam Mim. I think she’s very funny and steals the show for me. I can understand why you’re not a fan though. 2. I don’t care for Hans that much. He’s just not as memorable for me as many other villains. 3. I don’t see the Chief from Peter Pan as a villain, although he did nearly end up doing something very villainous, but he didn’t do it. Everyone has different opinions on these characters, so it’s so much fun to watch these rankings.
54:21 I'm so glad other people are as enthusiastic about him as I am. He's probably my favorite Disney villain ever as well. :) The movie is absolutely criminally underrated. Both Professor Ratigan and Basil are fantastic in the film and have great banter, great moments, wonderful personalities. It's just such a fun film and such an amazing performance from the legend Vincent Price. He truly is the best of the worst around
It may seem like king Louie isn't a villain but in context he is because in the original jungle book he kidnapped mawgali in order to learn how to make fire which he would then use it for bad ( the remake explores this idea more but he still can be considered the villain )
Just stopped by to say happy birthday, Arty! 😃 Didn't know you were two years younger than me. Also, I can think of quite a few things that describe my childhood better than Disney: Lemmings, Star Wars Racer... 😊 Star Wars in general. Though I guess that counts as Disney now, for better or for worse...
You're 27, Strato? I've known for a while that you were younger than me, I just didn't know by how much. I think based on your last post on anime I was guessing you were around 25. You'll be surprised at how so many forum members are in their 20s :p There's way more than I thought there would be. Being in my 30s myself, all you 20-somethings make me feel old XD
I came across this just by looking up tier or countdown videos. I didn't expect to come across you again, but I'm glad I did. I found your Let's Plays a lot more interesting and invested in your audience than a lot of Let's Players, so I was pretty confident when I clicked on this that I was going to enjoy it. As for villains, I tend to like the realistic ones the most, so Frollo tops my list. There's so many people throughout history just like him. Lots of Gastons, too. Villains from the 90s tend to rank highest for me in general. Maybe it's something to do with their villain songs. From the 90s alone, we had Gaston, Be Prepared, Savages and Hellfire. And I REALLY, REALLY want to have a look at Make Mine Music. I've watched parts of Saludos Amigos. There's a scene with a paintbrush I adore. I don't agree with man not being a real villain in Bambi. I mean, he damages the forest with his forest fire. I'm not going to say you're wrong, if you don't set as much stock by that, but that was really careless and I would put him as a Meh villain myself. He does enough damage for me to put him better than non-villain. By the way, a House of Mouse feature-length episode called "Mickey's House of Villains", a Halloween episode, included the villains taking over the House of Mouse, and during a villain song, Maleficent turns into a dragon and Chernabog tells her "Love your work!" So yeah, putting Chernabog to shame...sort of.
Finally found some time to watch through the video. Geez, took me long enough lol. Definitely on the long side, but hey, it's all about Disney villains, and I'm a huge Disney fan, and I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts/analyses. I must say, I literally cheered when you put Maleficient in the top tier, because she is, hands down, my most favorite Disney villain of all time. She's just too awesome in my opinion, and her transformation into a massive dragon at the very end is a really epic battle. For this reason, I would say she's literally at the very top in this tier, and so she would beat out all the other villains that you put before her in the top tier. Thus, I don't agree with Jafar being better than her, though. Again, just our opinions. I think I can agree with him being in the top tier or at least second top tier, but I definitely think Maleficient is the better one, though. Another one where I cheered was when you put Hades in the top tier. He is yet another favorite Disney villain of mine, and it might be strange just reading this, but he really makes me laugh every time he flares up in red/orange/yellow flames. James Wood does a very good job, and he even says that it's his favorite role and that he would reprise him "in a heartbeat." He does just that with the television series. Speaking of which, isn't "Recess" considered Disney too? James Wood also voices the antagonist of the movie "Recess: School's Out," with Hades' voice to boot! Some corrections I need to point out in the movie Hercules: Believe it or not, the Hydra is actually a "she," and the River Guardian is a centaur, not a minotaur :p For the former, if you're surprised by this, yea, I was too when I read this online from a long time ago. My reaction was, "The hydra's a she??????" For the latter, centaurs are half human, half horse, which the River Guardian is, while Minotaurs are half man, half bull. Professor Ratigan is another favorite Disney villain of mine, so yet another one I cheered when you put him in the top tier. He's just too awesome throughout the entire movie, although I would say he is scary beyond belief after he goes feral from having his plans thwarted too much by Basil, because he just snaps and loses all of his sanity. For Yzma, I consider her like the female version of Hades. She makes me laugh a lot when she gets angry, and she even kind of have a change in color when she's flaring as well. Just not as cool as Hades in my opinion, because of how she doesn't have flames surrounding him like Hades does. One person who I'm surprised wasn't considered a villain is Monsieur D'Arque, the asylum guy from "Beauty and the Beast." Sure, he's only in the movie for about 3-5 minutes total, but Tony Jay did a really good job in the role that he was cast to voice Judge Claude Frollo for Hunchback of Notre Dame. He also does the voice of one of the antagonist's lackeys in "Recess: School's Out." Now, I guess he can be considered "not a villain," since he doesn't do anything bad other than do what he's supposed to do, which is lock up insane people, and he was paid by Gaston to do it. He even said that "Maurice is harmless," so he wasn't seeing Gaston's point at all, at first and even after it all he says that "it's despicable." For Dr. Facilier, his main reason for what he did in the movie was so he could inherit Big Daddy's fortune and take over New Orleans, as he does say early in the movie that "we all know the best thing in the world, is money (points to a picture of Big Daddy)." The only way to do that was if his daughter, Charlotte, marries a prince and her dad is disposed of. That's why he turns Naveen's valor Lawrence into an imposter prince Naveen and tries to kill him via a voodoo doll, and he was able to get Lawrence to play along in his scheme against his will. As for Facilier's debt that he needs to "repay his friends on the other side," not really explained at all, so we never find out what it is. Some confessions I have to make, and that is several movies I haven't seen: Bolt, Treasure Planet, Moana, and Wreck-it-Ralph 2: Ralph Breaks the Internet. Other than that, I think I've seen all of them. I have to admit I'm quite surprised you haven't seen 101 Dalmatians. I would also have to agree with your placement of her on your list, although personally I'm not sure if I would put her where you did or I would put her in the "Amazing Villains" tier. Tough call here. Probably something I need to think more about. Maybe halfway between the tiers ^^ Anyway, thanks for the video, it was very entertaining to watch on something that I'm a huge fan of =) Also, I don't mean to be pushy or anything, but did you still have plans to finish up your comments on my Artlems solutions in my LP? Pretty much just 2 ranks to go ;)
Idk if anyone has said anything about this, but cruella DeVille is like one of the best villains ever, hands down better than maleficent, almost better than captain hook, almost
I mean I like Edgar… but I’m biased because Aristocats is one of my three favorite movies ever - Along with Captain America Winter Soldier and Metropolis. I have strange movie taste. My favorite Disney villain is Ursula tho - although that opinion might have been shaped by how much I love Azul aha.
Happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you Happy birthday dear Arty Happy birthday to you! Great idea to rank every Disney villain. I even did a ranking of my own. I have a few villains who you missed out though. 1. Tyrannosaurus from Fantasia 2. Aunt Sarah from Lady and the Tramp 3. The Wolf from The Sword in the Stone 4. Heffalumps and Woozles from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh 5. The Bear from The Fox and the Hound 6. Monsieur D’Arque from Beauty and the Beast 7. The Fates from Hercules 8. Foxy Loxy from Chicken Little 9. Dr Calico from Bolt 10. The Backson from Winnie the Pooh
I'm pretty sure Kaa needed to hypnotize Mowgli because Bagheera was right there and would have woken up have Mowgli screamed. Pretty smart if you think about it.
1:00:25 mcleach I think Is really More threatening than most Disney villain and he is more realistic than most Disney villain's also because he's a poacher and poachers are a real thing that's why he's my favorite Disney villain ever.
For the villain from home On the range I think he would’ve been a little higher if they kept his original plan mostly for how insane it is he’s going to use the cat house to take over the White House to become president I am not joking that was the plan why because it was too strange I repeat the villain who hypnotizes cows With yodeling using them to take over the White House and become president was considered to a strange
for the most part i agree with your list except for cruella i feel like she should be in the amazing disney villains but i understand you haven't watched the movie
You say it's a stupid move on Sitka's part to turn Kenai, his own brother, into a bear, but you possibly overlooked the moral perspective of Brother Bear. Kenai was on the verge of adulthood and he was given a totem by the Great Spirits of a bear, which is an animal symbol of love. But Kenai killed a bear not by love, but by blind anger and hatred. The Spirits, accompanied by Sitka, thought that this death was unnecessary and they magically transform Kenai into a bear as punishment for his actions. The whole moral of the story ties into one line in the lyric of Transformation. The lines are "Everything will become clear to you when you see things through another's eyes". It means that Kenai will understand what it's like to live like a bear by seeing through another's eyes, seeing through another's heart, and discovering the true meaning of brotherhood and he learns that and reforms from being prejudiced against bears to understanding how they live. The theme of Brother Bear is self-discovery and growing up. Thanks for reminding me to look at stories from a moral perspective.
52:52 WHAT?! How could you skip the TITAN BEAR from fox and the hound? You can skip Chief sure but that bear would obliterate like 90% of the characters in this list... just saying
Omg I'm sorry lol I heard you say that you had all the villains up to Wreck it Ralph 2 so I stopped watching after you did the villains from that movie. Thanks for touching on it; kinda weird that they left the bear out but kept the hunter in.
Maybe give it another chance now that you’re wiser. I’d put coachman at top tier the dude literally has boys kidnapped with help of honest John and giddy let’s the boys run loose and when they turn to donkeys sells em to mines or circus.I love the coach man he’s the perfect villain.
How could you put Honest John and Gideon so high?! They're between Meh and Decent! Stromboli deserves to be that high! The Ringmaster deserves to be among the Meh, especially considering how he treats Dumbo and the roustabouts! Pinocchio is Walt Disney's masterpiece!
