I saw these rooms when I went to ALC in 2015 and my last Private told me about how it has changed. I always laughed at the old guys saying "you do not know how good you have it" but here it is so true. Gordon 2010, B Co. 369 the building has now been gutted and redone to these new barracks, we had 4 to 8 man rooms, no coffin beds, no laptops allowed period at AIT, phones were allowed after duty day, my room had a hole next to my bed that went into the COs office (so my contraband went on top of her drop ceiling!), the 2nd floor main bathroom was covered in black mold for showers on ceiling and some walls, the 2nd bathroom (2 stalls, 1 urinal, a group shower with 4 heads) was closed off because people clogged the toilets beyond repair and people still snuck in to crap! (or smoke with windows open because the smell you could literally not smell anything but poop) We did utilize the showers though because of the limited time to get ready and everyone on the floor taken a shower at once. Dayroom was only place to hang out with a TV. When I got to Lewis, JBLM I had a 2+2 dorm style barracks so it was Amazing! In away its great to have the freedom but in another way you get a different bond when you got 8 people in a room haha. I wish you the best of luck, my advice is start working on things for promotion points now, pick random regs to read weekly, can never be to early but real easy to be late, take pride in the way your uniform looks, do not lie be honest (I got out of smokings for telling the truth that I woke up and said no pt today Im tired, while others made excuses like their 3rd flat tire), make yourself too important to the command to be sent out on crap details like post clean up, and don't take things that arent life limb or eyesight so serious like everyone will find a cranky NCO that chews you out or smokes you its life just move on and don't stress. Follow packing lists until you are an NCO. If given a task, just say roger and get it done do not ask why. In groups of peers take charge. Anything that can get you an Article 15 is not worth it AND CROSS TRAIN IN EVERY JOB YOU CAN! Anyone know where I can find more information on 25Q. I'm leaving to basic on the 5th, I'd appreciate the help. It's very difficult to find any videos on 25Q.
