I was never a principle role in the lion king, but listening to the soundtrack never ceases to make me cry with nostalgia. It brings me back to junior high rehearsals for this musical. I remember being like 12 and going through a rough time. This was the only thing that made me feel any better...
Ali Mosier was “Can you feel the love tonight” awkward? I’ve already played one character like Nala before, and I feel like im going to get cast as Nala, even though I want Scar. So, is that an awkward scene? I’ve already done awkward scenes with people, and I don’t want to again.
Minnesota Girls Life It honestly isn’t as awkward as I thought it would be! The most awkward part was when I tackle Simba when we first meet. Because I’m literally sitting on top of him :D
Ali Mosier how fun. Edit: I’m frustrated and sad, because once I got in for drama auditions, they said, “We’ve already pretty much decided who’s going to play Mufasa and Scar, so don’t get your hopes up.” And now, I’m sad. Edit 2: I got Rafiki! That’s a really fun role, actually. I’m ok with that.
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala Ingonyama nengw' enamabala Ingonyama nengw' enamabala Ingonyama nengw' enamabala Night And the spirit of life Calling (Oh, oh, iyo) Mamela (Oh, oh, iyo) Ubukhosi bo khokho We ndodana ye sizwe sonke Wait There's no mountain too great Hear these words and have faith (Oh, oh, iyo) Oh (Oh, oh, iyo) Have faith He lives in you He lives in me He watches over Everything we see Into the water Into the truth In your reflection He lives in you Ingonyama nengw' enamabala Ingonyama nengw' enamabala He lives in you He lives in you He lives in me He watches over Everything we see Into the water Into the truth In your reflection He lives in you Ingonyama nengw' enamabala Ingonyama nengw' enamabala He lives in you Ingonyama nengw' enamabala He lives in you Ingonyama nengw' enamabala He lives in you
I've fixed the lyrics it so it's word for word this version of the song just incase you need it. Brackets: Ensemble Everything else: Rafiki (Ingonyama nengw' enamabala) (Ingonyama nengw' enamabala) Night And the spirit of life Calling (Oh, oh, iyo) Mamela (Oh, oh, iyo) And a voice With the fear of a child Answers (Oh, oh, iyo) Ai-e-o Mamela (Oh, oh, iyo) Ubukhosi bo khokho (We ndodana ye sizwe sonke) Wait (Wait) There's no mountain too great Hear these words and have faith (Oh, oh, iyo) Oh (Oh, oh, iyo) Have faith ((Hela, hem mamela) on repeat) He lives in you He lives in me He watches over Everything we see Into the water Into the truth In your reflection He lives in you Mufasa: Simba. Simba: Father! Mufasa: Simba you have forgotten me. Simba: No! How could I? Mufasa: You have forgotten who you are, and so have forgotten me. Look inside yourself Simba. You must take your place in the circle of life. Simba: How can I go back? I’m not who i used to be. Mufasa: Remember who you are. You are my son and the one true king Simba: No, wait! Don't leave me! Please don't leave me! Rafiki: Hey buh. What was that? The weather, most peculiar eh? Simba: Yeah, looks like the winds are changing. Rafiki: Ah, change is good. Simba: But it's not easy. I know what I have to do but it means facing my past. Ow! Sheesh what was that for? Rafiki: It doesn't mater. It's in the past! Simba: Yeah but it still hurts Rafiki: Oh yes the past can hurt, but the way I see it you can either run from it or you can learn from it. You see? so what are you going to do now? Simba: I’m going back. Rafiki: Good! Get out of here! ((Hela, hem mamela) on repeat) (He lives in you) Ah-e-o (He lives in me) Hi-ya hi-ya hi-oh (He watches over) He watches over (Everything we see) Hi-ya hi-ya hi-oh (Into the water) Into the water (Into the truth) Hi-ya hi-ya hi-oh (In your reflection) In your reflection He lives in you
I got rafiki in my summer play group and I love this song. Super happy that one of my really good friends got simba. Going to be a great summer with my friends!
I was Banzai and the way we did this song is for the second "he lives in you" chorus, we turned off all the lights and the ensemble had candles and Rafiki had a glow-up staff and it looked beautiful onstage.
I heard a bit of this song when picking up my son from rehearsal after school and it really pulled on my heartstrings. Sounds so much better with a bit of natural reverb though. Good luck to all you little animal's :-) x
This is definitely my favorite song in the whole show. I got sarabi so I don't have too many lines in the entire musical but I'm still greatful to be in the main cast
In my school I'm a lioness and lioness have to stand at the side and do ensemble in this and I love this song so much cause we all build up and belt out so loud he lives and everyone jumps it's so funny 😂
Since we're doing roll call: I was an ensemble dancer in the 2015 Louisiana Premiere production with Stage Center. I covered the following tracks: Jungle Dancer (Just Can't Wait)/Wildebeest/Hyena/African Chorus
I remember that we were rehearsing and then rafiki just got a voice crack and all of the people doing it in my school (~90) just laughed. It sounded like ‘into the WATE-‘ it was great
I did on accident and then I realized so I un disliked it and like I was so confused because I played Rafiki at my school and like this was my main song😂
my theatre company and im playing mufasa and rafiki (in different casts ofc) and we show in 2 days!! im so excited that i get to sing this and they live in you
enjoy it as much as possible take it from a high schooler im literally watching this as like a comfort song bc I miss my middle school production so much
Ok so I was Adult Simba and I had to run down the isles after rafiki tells me to go back and I remember waiting in the back for my cue to go back to the stage, absolutely having the time of my life to the rest of the song. Still my favorite show
I’m actually super scared I got the role of refeki in my play and I’m nervous to song this because I’m a little insecure of my voice- but I’m super excited to have this role! Wish me luck
playing rafiki & im lit so nervous. but i’m so excited because i, four years ago, was a hyena and dreamt of singing this song on stage!! update: a lot of people congratulated me and i had a very different image at school. many parents told me that i should be put in auditions for a broadway 💘💘
