Join me for a 26 hour call shift and day in the life of a doctor! Today I'm on call for cardiology so we will be treating heart attacks, shocking patients' hearts and managing arrhythmias. You will see real cases of heart attacks treated with stents and unstable arrhythmias requiring a shock to the heart!
A HUGE thank you to the patients who generously agreed to share their imaging in this video, and Zeeshan, the international cardiology fellow for participating in this video!

Seeing what they did to him in action (in your video) made me even more thankful for the emt’s, physicians, and nurses working that night. Hey Brittany and Shelby....I am a dad that had the big one back in 2007 and another in 2016. Thoughts and prayers for both your Dad's. I can't say enough about the outstanding care I received from the EMT and the hospitals.....I could write a book. It was an incredible journey. But it was my family that supported me through this that meant everything, Today I'm having the best of my 70 years. I feel great do things a younger man wouldn't try. With restrictions lifted my wife and I are just going to be with our family close up for the first time in months. It will be a day to cherish. Love to you and your families.... stay strong and all will be well.

Last night, I watched an episode of "Untold Stories of the E.R." A woman came in with chest and was diagnosed with a STEMI. Her mother came in to the E.R. to see her daughter. She collapsed and was diagnosed with a STEMI. The sister of the first patient came to see her, saw their mother in a bed, she collapsed and, guess what? Yep, another STEMI! They were in town attending a family gathering. The doctor realized that they had the same inheritable syndrome (I think Willett's?), and advised them to tell other family members to NOT come to the E. R. to prevent more heart attacks. It was an interesting case. All three women survived. The human body is full of surprises.

I am so so so glad the patient allowed you to share those images. I audibly said wow when you showed the after photo. It's actually insane how much of a difference there is. Thank you so much to the patient and thank you Siobhan for talking us through everything!!

I wish this video had existed six years ago when my dad was being treated for atrial fibrillation - something that was only picked up on by his oncologist following a routine check-up. He had the same procedure done, but at the time I was stuck in the US studying abroad and my dad was home in the UK. This has taught me so much more about what was going on with his heart, and what that procedure was - at the time all I knew was his heart was being shocked and I was 5000 miles away from him, I was petrified. He passed away 2 years ago from complications of cancer and heart problems, but he was incredibly private so he hardly shared the details health problems and treatment with me because he never wanted me to worry! Thank you for your videos, they're so interesting and informative, even though I have no intention of joining the medical career!

My grandfather had a heart attack around 1.5 years ago, he coded once and I will never forget the sound of my mother's voice as she got the call from my grandmother. He survived and is fine now but was in acute danger for about two days. At the end of the second day my dad came to my workplace and I thought my grandfather died, I will never forget that feeling, a mixture of fear and complete devastation, I stared to crie so bad I fell to my knees.

Thank you for also for including all the information in your videos about certain medical conditions, it really is so good to learn this info. Hope to see you one day, of course not in a hospital as patient, as you are just so cool! Hope you’re having an awesome day! Stay safe!

I really enjoyed this episode, I had a non stemi heart attack in 2019. My circumflex artery was almost totally blocked. I had indigestion & left arm pain off & on for 6 weeks, I was in denial, I should of gone in much sooner. The staff at the hospital were excellent. I was in the cath lab so fast after being diagnosed, within minutes. I have had no problems since then with my heart, so grateful for the awesome care I received in the ER 💖
