Wonderful to have Leland online sharing such great information! This is what the internet is all about! His talent and humility is second to none! Bravo Lee!
P.S I’ve been blessed to record him and his sound and feel are unbeatable. Having a world class player like him elevates every recording, every live show and his personality lifts the session!
J Rosner yes, indeed! We worked with an all star cast of amazing musicians with the late great Dick Wagner for a song for St Jude’s Children’s Hospital! It was a wonderful experience
So great to see a man, at the zenith of a career, having done everything someone can hope to have done, and here he is with three amps and three basses basically saying "I can do pretty much everything I need with this stuff right here." Tremendous!
Such a humble, kind and compassionate man. Very minimal gear, not a bunch of showy crap just for ego purposes. Such a pleasure to hear the stories of his amazing life playing with almost everyone who makes music. What a resume'!
Wow!! The rundown on the Frankenbass was worth the price of admission alone. What a straight up, intelligent, witty humanist Lee is- I am loving this series.
Lee is a piece of musical history himself, so authentic! This was one of the coolest “my-gear videos” I’ve seen on RU-vid. The Frankenstein bass story was really great, thanks for sharing!
Lee Sklar: humble, friendly, simple....and when you think about his career, c'mon! A GIGANTIC bass player, a real musician, incredible performer. Thanks a lot, Mr. Sklar, love from Italy
As a keyboard and piano guy, this is so interesting the way you experimented. Kinda like trying to get a race car handling the way you want, so hard, but when you get a combo that works that day, you are unstoppable. Love your videos.
I remember watching James Taylor concerts on PBS when I was a kid and being fascinated with the bearded bass player. And now, through the magic of the internet we get to interact with these musical legends we grew up with. You're awesome, Lee. Thanks for sharing your time with us.
As a guy who goes on the road with a small local group, I really appreciate the "I don't want to give the sound guy EQ issues", as well as keeping your gear to a minimum. That makes loading and setup alot less work. You can enjoy the music more. Thanks again!
You are a national treasure and an encyclopedia of knowledge and history. Thank you so much for letting us into your home, and for caring as much about the music and the music makers (and the music listeners) as you do.
It's the perfect switch for when that PITA stickler says we need to change something but doesn't know what it is. Position 2 or 5 really work well, and Lee can get on with playing.
This is why the internet was invented. Such a joy to see and hear a legend talk about his profession and his life. A rare glimpse inside a truly unique world. A+
The producer switch had me dying!! Brilliant!! BTW you sir are an absolute humble and beautiful human being! Love your bass playing with Phil! Beautiful gear!
This is my FAVORITE VIDEO OF ALL 700HUNDRED SOMETHING !! LOVE ❤ LOVE ❤ LOVE ❤ THIS ONE ! THANKS LEE 😊......YOU ARE MY BIGGEST FANTASTIC FAN! ( that really feels like family , your generosity @ kindness is immeasurable! ) 💕 💞 ♥ Kim-n-Carolina
Unbelievable! Thank you very much Lee. I am so grateful for all the videos you put out lately, but this is a real gem. I hope you get back on the road as soon as possible, and I hope to get a chance to catch one of your live shows. Love you!
I love that your thumb wore the wood down. You gotta be diggin with that right hand. I had my first main bass stolen out of the van after a gig. You have great taste Lee.
in my opinion, you are the best bass player in the whole world, you have incredible musical intelligence, I'm from Brazil and we admire your work a lot !!! I didn't have the opportunity to watch Phil Collins' show in 2018 when they were here together, but I've been following his career ever since !! 🇧🇷
I absolutely love your videos Leland! Thanks for sharing. I've admired you for years as a top notch bassist and it's a joy to get to know you through these videos. Take care! Best wishes from Sydney Australia.
I'm so glad you showed your original Fender. Really cool to see the close ups. A lot of history and miles on that one. Loving the vids Lee, all the best to you in these times.
Leland Sklar is truly a musician for the generations he helped make the music of a lifetime with the best in the business. God bless you Leland for all the sound.
Maximum Respect🙏 Leland before i came to your channel i had no glue about your musical history and so on.But a few weeks ago somebody gave me a dvd from Toto live and i saw you playin on there and it blew me away. I'm a musician (Bluesguitarplayer and Writer, singer, but im not in the public)i'm just doin it for myself and i played here and there in my area germany small gigs in pubs or on the street)However i started when i was 14 and by now i'm 54.As time goes by.For a few years ago i'm fighting with some health problems which are a really drag sometimes. But i try to keep the good spirits up.Apart from that a few month ago i started an old hobby again, and i'm building ship modells. So i had totally forgot how much i missed it.The good side thing about building these modells is that i found out that these work is good for my fingers. It changed my style on guitar in a interesting kind of way. Anyway.Take care of yourself and stay healthy.Have a nice day an God Bless You🙏Thank you for this channel and sharing your expierince and knowledge. Greeings from mainz germany ✌☮😎☮✌ Jochen(Amos) Hansen⚓

Leland "Lee" Sklar, I am such a fan of you since I heard Spectrum back in the late 70´s early 80´s. This album can´t be thought without your deep rhytms and lines!!! It is so wonderful to see you "as you are" after such a long time of knowing you from your music...
I'm totally stealing this: "Hey, why don't you to CELEBRATE yourself?" LOL! Thank you, Mr. Sklar for the awesome tour. Such a joy to hang out here with you! Best to you, always!
hey everybody, I've already watched this video before - and as today is easter again, I wish everybody some relaxed days, lovely people around, good food & drinks .. and as much sun as I have here :) - greetings from the Lake of Constance, Swiss German border ;-)
Very cool! Jon Butcher sent me a CD of Bearfoot servants and it's one of my favorite recordings. Really great stuff, thank you for doing your thing. I really dig your videos.
Thank you for this and all the videos you have been making for us "admirers". It's so nice to hear you give a shout out to all the first responders as well.
Love you so much and all the wonderful music over the years. And the stories, omg. “Ultimate producer switch”...brilliant. All the best to you always, my friend.
...this was so good Leland,thank-you very much...if i had a nickel for every time i woodshedded in the day, playing my bass along with you,Jack Bruce,James Jamerson and Joe Osborn, i'd have to send you a big cheque for all the lessons...i'm serious, thank-you very much...
Thanks Leland, for the nice tour of your gear. Few items but well chosen, evaluated, tested, listened to, and eventually selected. That was great !... thanks again... ciao... from Milan, Italy
I was so happy when Techno Empire started listing a bunch of the stuff you owned and signed. Got an old bass micro synth that’s been super fun to play around with. Been hoping to get a few more pieces for my garage studio. Been needing a new cab
Thanks for sharing your gear and the really interesting stories behind each one, Lee! I really love your basses, but the Frankenstein is a beautiful piece of work. Be safe, and saludos from Mexico.
