I do not agree. The acid can melt anything, unless the umbrella is acid proof. But the riddle never said it was acid proof. Tip: You can reread the question going back, until you get it, and quickly combine all of your details to get to your final answer.

Getting caught in the rain implies he wasn't prepared. This is only a riddle because you've hidden some information and made some assumptions. Also the guess the animal ones are awful.
