Name: The Grand Peterhof Palace Location: Peterhof, St. Petersburg, Russia, Asia  The Grand Peterhof Palace, is a magnificent imperial residence located in Peterhof, a town near Saint Petersburg, Russia.  The Grand Palace was commissioned by Peter the Great in the early 18th century to create residence reminiscent of the palaces of Western Europe.  Over the years, subsequent Russian monarchs, expanded and embellished the palace complex, adding wings, rooms, and gardens.  Inside, the palace is lavishly decorated with opulent rooms, each adorned with exquisite artwork, gilded ornaments, and luxurious furnishings.  The Grand Palace served as the primary summer residence for Russian emperors and empresses, hosting lavish receptions, and state functions.  It has an area of 4000 hectares. 64 fountains are in the Grand Cascade on both sides.  It is often considered as Russian Versailles as comparison to France Versailles.  The Palace got inscripted as UNESCO world heritage site in 1990 along with the city center of St. Petersburg, Russia.  Today, the Grand Peterhof Palace is a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the world who come to admire its architecture and rich history.  The official website of this palace is >> Peterhof State Museum-Reserve (peterhofmuseum.ru) Virtual Tourist
