Very nice reminder and lesson, thank you! One interesting (and sad) one that I have noticed, which is the opposite of #22 (Doctrine instead of Obedience). The opposite one I've seen is "Don't give me doctrine, just give me love!" Love is important, but loving God means actually obeying Him, however we need to obey.

we are all sinners, and we have broken God's law. Therefore we all deserve hell. But God was merciful and sent Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, His Son, to die for the sins of those who would believe in Him. He lived a sinless life, and then he died on the cross, taking the wrath of God we deserved onto himself. He rose again 3 days later to defeat death for all of those who would put their trust in him. If you repent of your sin and place your faith in Christ, He will save you from hell. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The only way to enter heaven.

Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, BEHOLDING AS IN A MIRROR the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:17,18 The brazen laver was filled with water and its insides were made from all the bronze mirrors that the women carried with them through Israel's desert wanderings. When the priest brought an offering it was washed in this bronze laver: both the offering and the priest's face were seen in the brazen laver. "Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptible to God, and be not conformed to this world, but be transformed through the renewing of your mind."

Here’s another quote from this video around 12:30 marker. “Realize what that is. Receiving the word is producing the righteousness of God. Being doers of the word is producing the righteousness of God. It basically says three different ways the same thing as he’s moving thru these verses. This is what he’s talking about. This is the way God saves people.” This is heresy! I’ll Be Honest there needs to be a public correction of this. This is no small mistake! Salvation is by faith alone. The doing/obeying Gods word comes as a result of this salvation.
@annabrinckerhoff3316
@annabrinckerhoff3316 3 месяца назад
Tim is teaching exactly that.. true salvation results in being doers of the Word. That the doing doesn’t save you, but is a proof of true salvation that was an absolute complete gift.

Im just confused on whether we must still keep the Sabbath or not, this is something that i did once but stopped because i realized we are not under law but under grace, but now i always go back and think if im disobeying God by not doing it anymore
@justinbrentwood1299

Thankfully, I believe I have a comprehensive biblical answer. Short version: you're correct. Long version: The Sabbath was established under the Old Testament law, and we are not under the law anymore. Look at Romans 7:1-6. Paul the apostle used the analogy of marriage. When two people are married, if the woman sleeps with another man, she's called an adulteress. However, if the husband dies, and she remarries, she isn't called an adulteress. In the same way, we are dead to the law and alive to Christ, that we should serve in newness of spirit and not in the letter of the law. Look at Galatians 3:22-25 (and the previous context if you wish). The purpose of the law was to show righteousness and the sin of man (Romans 3:19), that we might be led to the savior Christ. Once we have Christ though, we no longer are under the law's authority; we don't have to follow it because we're now under Christ's authority. Jesus came to fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17). According to Colossians 2:16-17, many of the things in the law, such as holidays, new moons, and sabbaths, were shadows of the thing to come: Jesus. How does Jesus fulfill the Sabbath? While this next part isn't explicitly in the Bible, I believe that it is accurate. Rather than regularly resting from our efforts to physically survive on a literal day, we now rest from our efforts to justify ourselves in Christ, as we are justified by grace through faith instead of our works. Another passage is Romans 14:5-6: "One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God." I don't believe that there's a convincing way to interpret this to not also talk about the Sabbath. The command of the Sabbath was extremely important in the Old Testament, so much so as to be in the ten commandments. Every command that we need to do was reiterated in the New Testament, except this one. If we still had to follow this great command, I'm sure it would be mentioned as a command, but it is not. It is not a requirement, nor is it restricted.

I like Tim Conway but this sermon has some concerning things in it. Starting at the 10:30 minute marker he says: "which is able to save your souls. You see what this is saying? The word, the implanted word, which you’re supposed to be receiving with meekness and you gotta put off all this anger and this stuff that doesn’t produce the righteousness of God, you gotta put, and this is able to save your souls.” …” do you think that way? That this word in the hands of God is Gods instrument to save your soul and the idea is that brethren the main preoccupation of you and me ought to be the saving of our soul. You ought to be taking those steps and doing those things that Gods word tells you to do if you wanna… listen…” [he goes on to talk about people that get up early to make money and get what they want etc. etc. and then he continues] “ how much more ought we to be preoccupied with the very things that God tells us in his word are for the saving of our souls?” James never says doing (which literally means preforming) would save the soul. He said receiving the implanted Word saves the soul, implication: faith and repentance. Tim convolutes this passage and comes dangerously close to preaching the heresy of works unto salvation. Given the right motives and proper perspective, the sermon is good. Tim you need to be more careful in handling this passage and interpret it exactly as it reads, RECEIVING the implanted WORD is the thing that saves.

I don't think he wanted to preach works salvation. Part of repentance is humbling ourselves which can include abandoning our anger. People who hate God don't come to Him
@zacharybeauford2244
@zacharybeauford2244 3 месяца назад
@@Mirjana-oz3mv Perhaps but I can’t fathom how if someone has a clear understanding of the gospel and justification by faith alone would ever say these things. No, repentance does not include abandoning sin. True repentance RESULTS in turning from sin. There’s a huge difference. Repentance is a change of mind. In regards to sin, repentance is recognizing your sin and guilt and need of a Savior and looking onto Christ for salvation in faith. The result of this repentance/conversion is turning from sin. When someone defines repentance as turning away from sin (I’ve heard many good preachers do this) they are being very sloppy and getting too close to heresy. My response is usually this. Just swap the phrase turn away from sin with repentance in your gospel proclamation and see how it fits. You must turn away from your sin and believe in Jesus to be saved. That is to say you must first stop sinning before you can be saved or converted. Heresy. Turning away from sin comes only as a result of conversion. It’s the cart before the horse.

I think you're missing something important. He's talking to a church sheeps and goats, some people in that audience may be self deceived. This could be a wake up call a word that searches hearts and reveals what is. This sermon is very encouraging for believers that are struggling. We all struggle with obedience. There are hard passages all throughout the Bible you can't sugarcoat everything.
@zacharybeauford2244
@zacharybeauford2244 2 месяца назад
@@BeereasonAble you don’t preach heresy to wake people up. James 1 is not hard to understand. It never says “doing” saves the soul. It says receiving the implanted word is what saves the soul. That’s what’s even more concerning, he had to add to scripture to make the statements he did.

Faith comes by hearing the Words of God. At the beginning of Romans (1:5) it says, "the obedience of faith" at the end of Romans (16:26) it says "the obedience of faith". There is only 'the obedience of faith' by way of God's Spirit and 'the disobedience of unbelief'. And without faith, by way of the "Spirit of faith", it is impossible to please God. If you do not please God, you cannot honor and glorify Him. And failing to do this results in a debased mind that can only produce evil works, cmp. Romans 1. Now tell me how you would twist the following scripture: Romans 2:5-8 NASB2020 [5] But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of GOD, [6] who WILL REPAY EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS: [7] to those who by perseverance in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life; [8] but to those who are self-serving and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, He will give wrath and indignation.
