I love those old transceivers: Built like a tank, easy to repair and with very good documantation. Compared to the scrap of today this was the golden age......

I agree, these were the last of the good built rigs.

These Yaesu model's and the Kenwood model's from this era were great radios. Most of them have quieter receivers than modern radios. I know my Kenwood ts830s and my Icom 735, 745 and 751a have better sensitivity than my friends Icom 7300. Modern receivers have so much white noise and synthesizer phase noise. The older hf rigs are easily repaired. This new stuff may be feature packed but internal parts are so incredibly small even with good lighting and magnification it's damn near impossible for most people to try to repair it without going crazy and cross eyed in the process. With components the size of one grain of sand it's absolutely maddening.

Yes I had on of those with most accessories and it was a great old rig. My problem is I have no room for the rig and sold it. Always second guessing why I sold it but I have too many old radios. Love them though.

I've been watching your videos for quite a while now and have enjoyed watching these videos for quite some time I just recently purchased a Browning eagle r27 s23 which is the radio that I've always wanted and could never afford it was an eBay purchase which I paid too much for and it is old and not working properly I would like to have this one restored and to watch a video on it getting restored and in working order and I know that you are probably backed up with more work than you can handle but I'm wanting to know if you would be willing to take on the task and to also set this one up for external vfo use thank you for stopping by and for reading my comment 73 from KM4AZY

Why didn't you replace the faulty bulb on the right side of the VFOdial? But nice video!
@TheRadioShop

I am out and have some ordered. Actually it takes two different lamps in this rig. Dial lamps are 14 volt and meter is 8 volt. If I would had replaced just the one that is burnt out then it would over power the other. Thanks

I don't know if you are aware, but the Phillips screws in Japanese products (you can tell by the dimple on the head of the screw) are slightly different than "American" Phillips screws. The screwdriver that works best for them are Japanese Industrial Standard or JIS screwdrivers. Here is an amazon webpage that has them: www.amazon.com/Hozan-JIS-4-JIS-Screwdriver-3rd/dp/B00A7WAHTU Thanks for the lesson Buddy.
@TheRadioShop

Yes, you are correct on that one. Mine are worn out, but this screw had so much lock tite on it a jack hammer would have a hard time :)
