Today I get started installing the filter system on the Custom Aquariums 265-gallon display tank. The filtration is all part of the Custom Aquariums Seamless Sump filter system, including Stealthbox, H2Overflows and Siphon Stopper emitters. This video will cover an overview of what is going to be installed and how the overflows were assembled.

Three reasons... First, this is a demonstration tank for the Custom Aquariums systems and I want to show both the H2Overflow by itself and the Stealthbox. Second, this tank was drilled for two overflows, so it had to get two overflows (or block off one hole). I did not order it this way... the tank was mistakenly drilled that way, so I took advantage of it sitting in the warehouse for too long. Third, redundancy. That is a recurring theme when I plumb big tanks. Two separate overflows. Two return pumps. Two heaters. Whatever can cause problems if they stop working I like to have two of on the tank. In the case of overflows, if one clogs for some reason, the other will prevent a flood.

I really enjoy your videos. You explain everything so clearly. What is the purpose of having the H2Overflow in addition to the Stealth Box? Thanks!

The H2Overflow in the internal screen that sets the water height in the tank. A different internal screen or box would work, but it would have to have a weir or other way to make sure that the water stays as high as the frame on the tank and not flood the filter.

Hi Ted, I am setting up a 265 gallon, 8 foot long tank. It has never been drilled and I will be using 2 H2Overflows but am unsure about using the Stealthbox or just plumbing them to drain directly to the sump. What are the advantages/disadvantages of these options? Also, how far does the Stealthbox extend from the back of the tank? I am trying to position the tank as close to the wall as possible. Thanks! Keep the videos coming, it's great to see you posting content again!

The H2Overflow with or w/o the Stealthbox needs a hole. Both need about 4” of space behind the tank. The big advantages of the SB are that you can eliminate any gurgle in the overflow completely... but the H2Overflow by itself is very quiet.... and with the SB you pretty much have to have at least one emergency drain which will prevent a clog in the primary drain hose from flooding and overflowing the tank.

@@TedsFishroom Thanks for the quick reply! I think I will just go with an H2Overflow on each corner with a return in the middle of the tank. I'm not too concerned with a little noise.

Hey Ted, when will this new style sock tub be available on the website? I would like to upgrade my current sock tub to this new style of overflow into the baffle tub...
