Lee, have subscribed since the start. At age 77 & widowed, just came to the conclusion that if I had a "do over", I would want Leland Sklar for my next door neighbor. What a wonderful world that would be for a former bassist that "borrowed" from the Master for many years!! Please stay safe. Thank you & keep posting.
Man Leland you are the best head chamge on You Tube. Ain't it good to know? Thank you for these posts. You are helping 1 peraon get thru this tragic time.
Leland, I absolutely love this video. What a privilege and an honour to be invited into your 'home', a very rare treat indeed. Your videos have kept me sane through these scary times, so thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your life, stories, playing, and home with us all. Stay happy, safe and sane. Best Wishes, Ian.
Wow! Hammocks, James Taylor, peeling wallpaper, steam, Carly Simon and barking dogs. We are truly blessed. You wont find this combination anywhere else folks!! Keep us smiling Leland. A London based Sklarite and his fiancee, Karen.
***That*** is what we’re here for, plus the songs, and the dogs, and the garden tours, and the neighborhood walks, and the garage gear explorations, and checking out the hotrod, and the recording sessions, and . . . thanks for everything. Stay safe and stay well!
Great story, Lee. Today, I got into some of the 1971 videos of you, James and Carol King. So many sweet music memories from those times. Thank you! We might all be white haired now, but those songs are like time travel back to memories of that era.
Friend, I am a wildlife rehabber. I got to tell you, you speak to critters too. Love to see your boys respond and are so happy. Blessings Leland, been a fan of yours for decades. Come to VT and see all our rescues sometime.
I'm guessing Carly did NOT get her security deposit back. What a crazy story! I can see that happening - forgetting to turn off the hot water faucet. Great doggies, Lee!
I don't take it for granted that you can recall each band and its members with such clarity after 40 years of the passing of time. I think I have a good memory, Lee - but your total recall is just amazing - and adds those important details to the stories you tell us.
Thank you for the story. I have a particularly stressful job, and listening to your videos, with your personality and your stories is always a calming experience for me.
Thanks for the crazy story. Your mind must be a treasure chest of stories. It is so nice to hear about your long career and people your met along the way.
What a great story!! Sometimes insurance is good, huh? Yikes....omg. Thank you for sharing it with all of us. I loved seeing your dogs. Marcello! Andiamo amore. One of them sounds like he is working on being a tenor.
Lol!! At the same time you got to the word "hot" in "it was HOT"...one of the fur babies howled . Sounded like crosstalk to me, pup. Way to emphasize, little buddy. 😉Too funny! Love the shared memory...Love the fur babies and their howls!!!! Too stinking cute. Thanks for having them run to "us". It was a great video ty.
Reminds me of a story, I was in Nashville for a demo session. I was staying at the Producers home. The last night we were there the artist and friends were having drinks...you know the pat yourself on the back party..Well a few were smoking cigarettes the host dumped the ash try in a can under the sink. We all went out to see some live music came back a few hours later. The whole house was flooded about 2 inch deep in water. A cigarette caught fire under the sink and burned through the water line...oh the stories my RU-vid friend...
I love all animals and those two boys of yours are two of the best. I love it when they make an appearance, they're always in the moment. So much to learn from our animal companions. Great JT story, thanks Leland.
What a crazy memory... I laughed out loud several times. Those boys are such doll babies... I can imagine the bruises I would have on my feet going barefoot with those big boys
You are so awesome. I've admired you for many, many years and I totally understand why musicians like James Taylor have you by their side. You are amazing.
Quite the story! I’ve subscribed to James’ RU-vid channel as well. So, it fun for me to relive some things through your memories, Lee. I love your two knuckleheads, too.
Lots of crazy stuff is how our friendships are maintained. That memory will stay for a lifetime. On time after the whiskey and J. Winter a wheel fell off my MG at Bel Air and sunset blvd. It landed in a evergreen bush 3 inches from the fire Departments 20ft high plate glass windows. I have 100 of those stories with my oldest friends. Priceless story. Indoor rain forest! Priceless.
Our current USA government still allow citizens to tell their remembrances and stories without facing a host of legal copyright trespass reports. Thank you for the visit and story; it was good to see and hear the three of you.
Dear Mr. Sklar, You've played bass in some of the best bands and songs ever written over the past 50 years. In addition to that being a great accomplishment in ones life, you have also brought so much joy and happiness to your listeners. Thank You!
I used to play the James Taylor hit "A little More Time With You" for my daughter Fiona when she was a baby...we'd dance around the living room together!
This is actually quite amazing when listening with some proper cans - sound really gets picked up well almost in surround fashion on your phone! You really get a sense of being in a hammock getting hounded by dogs. :P
Leland, double check hammock anchor points and fasteners, double strength chain or high spec rope. Masonry anchors, no suspect fixings or weak masonry. Too many terrible back injuries from failures. Love your work.
Lee mentioned that Berklee is holding an online Bass and Drum Summit at 1 p.m. ET. Announced participates include Steve Gadd, Anthony Jackson, Omar Hakim, Darryl Jones, Kenny Aronof, and Lee. It's being hosted by Victor Wooten, John Patitucci, and Steve Bailey. Quite a lineup! I look forward to it.
Hey Lee, keep doing your channel. Don't let the haters get to you. Politics and hate speech needs to stay off such a rich and informative channel like yours.
Thank you Mr. Sklar for all of the great music you have created throughout the decades . I'm 60 so I have been aware of you and James Taylor and Carly Simon and your music for a long while -since summer day camp in 1970 . Thanks also for these wonderful videos. God bless you and I wish you many more years of music and non-music joy.😊🎼🎵🎶🎵👍p.s. I grew up in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, approximately half a mile from where the Simon family lived but I never saw Carly Simon in her old neighborhood and I was jealous of the grownups who reported seeing her or one of her sisters.
Great story. Adventures with friends are the best. I gotta say your sound is an integral ingtedient in JTs "sound". You flew together. You rise all performers. Across the years. Your incredible style adds to everyone. Its where you choose to put your notes...in the perfect pocket.
Oh Leland thanks for this. I really enjoy your channel. It’s because of your amazing work with James that I was first introduced to your work. I am 70 ..living in Victoria,BC. Canada and I’m on a limited income so I find entertainment that doesn’t cost $ a delight...but only when it’s good...you give my days something to look forward to..now that’s poor grammar 😂.i have always been happy to,pay for great music... o matter how little I had but thank you for this gift.
Loved your playing forever Leland and love the youtube channel. Great 914 studio shoutout. I grew up a town over from it there in Rockland County NY. Lots of great music and sessions there.

Those are the most adorable dawgs that I ever saw. Made me laugh when I was in a downer. I love my choc. Lab and she will live forever so I will not have a dawg like yours. But I would . I would be laughing all the time. I enjoyed you too, Lee. Great story as usual.
Good afternoon Lee - I meant to tell you and all the immediate family yesterday that I hoped ya'll had a nice 1st day of fall....so I wish you all a happy 2nd day of fall too.
