Cooler air arriving above a moist airmass at the surface was set to create instability and promote heavy showers and thunderstorms to develop across England with the greatest risk transferring north and east through the day. The highest risk of storms looked to be across eastern parts with sea breeze convergence just inland from the east coast. Although storms were likely to be short-lived in most areas, a stronger storm or two were possible along the breeze convergence zone. Hail was a risk, and hail was quite widely reported in the storms that occured across the country.
