According to the Bible the sabre toothed tiger ate some kind of plants. Genesis 1:29 - 30 And God said, (to man) Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
In your lecture you ask the question: What did the saber tooth tiger eat? If he ate meat then the Garden was not very paradisaical. But what if we live on a multi purpose planet and the creation took place in stages, epochs, and eras rather than days; and what if the variety of animal, reptile, and plant species we see each had their turn on earth before extinction (for example: dinosaurs and humanoids); and what if it was only in the recent past that Adam was introduced to the earth? This would account for the age of the earth and the age of the fossils that have been discovered and carbon dated. We are of the family of Adam and we must think of the Bible as the myths and legends and histories and prophecies and moral teachings given through his descendants and not as an extensive history of the last three and a half billion years.
Good afternoon, please see the response from the person above you for the same question. If you choose to go with a day-age explanation for dealing with Genesis 1 & 2/Creation, you are creating many more issues with this answer. There are long periods of time with plants that require pollination but no creatures to pollinate them, etc. It also removes God's authority to say what He means and mean what He says in His revelation to us. Instead you replace Him with yourself and you become the arbiter of what is true in the Bible and what is literal or true and what is an allegory. Just food for thought! God bless!
To answer 23:00 Saber tooth tigers are said to have lived in Eocene through the Pleistocene Epoch during the ice age period. Biblically, this period lasted 700 years post-flood and so at most 2400 years from creation. The question is loaded to state God created saber-tooth tigers as-is and does not allow for adaption/speciation to take place as would occur amongst tiger ancestors in a 2400 year time span due to drastically varying climate changes and sudden population divide due to the previous flood/natural global events that had occurred prior. For Example: In about 20 generations the entire Green Anole(Lizard) population of the affected islands has larger toes than the population from 15 years ago. With the right selective pressure an adaptation within an existing range of somatic adaptabiliy can spread through an entire population quite quickly, in as few as 20 generations in the case of the Green Anole. Taking to account the saber tooth lifespan said to be 20 - 40 years Using 30 years per generation as an estimate, then there are approximately 20 generations in 600 years. Which fit well into the 700 year time frame of the post-flood ice age world these tigers lived in.

Man names things. What words or language did he use to name them? Hebrew? The original name of “tiger” assumed from the Greek Tigre? From the ...what? When naming all creatures, what language did Adam use? What was the original language?
@John Harris - It doesn't matter what language Adam used as words are simply utterances that convey meaning. The point is Adam possessed the ability to name and create distinctions between objects which presupposes the existence of Universals. Numbers are a perfect example ie: The number 7 can be spoken in multiple languages and presented in many different symbols, however, the number 7 is invariant and universal regardless of the way it's spoken or symbolised.
Arnold Fruchtenbaum addresses what the first language probably was and why he arrives at his answer based on the language found in the Bible itself, especially in the first part of Genesis! There is difficulty in knowing the absolute answer because of God confusing all the languages at the Tower of Babel. But God created all of the languages that mankind has spoken. Check out Foreign Language Syndrome also called Foreign Accent Syndrome where people have an accident and wake up speaking a totally different language... correctly without ever having encountered it before! God is awesome!
Enjoyed the lecture. His question at 25 mins. about what sabre-tooth tigers ate before the fall is predicated on the false premises that the entire world was just like the Garden of Eden, and that Romans 5 can be read literally even though Adam and Eve didn't die literally when they sinned. They died spiritually which is the context of Romans 5. So by blatantly misrepresenting the text, followed by an exegetical fallacy we have a strawman that the Bible teaches there was no animal death before the fall. That is not what the text says. That is a popular misrepresentation by Young Earth Creationists almost 60 years ago and that false premise is repeated today by guys like Ken Ham and Kent Hovind. In fact we find God commanded Adam to subdue the feast of the world this bringing it into the order found in Eden! Don't let atheists attack straw men created by poor exegesis. Enjoyed the video and the style of the interaction.
@Uber Genie - it amazes me that people choose to hold to their own thoughts of how to fit their understanding of science with what God has declared in His Scripture! God literally says that He created the Universe, Earth, mankind, all plants, and creatures in six literal days. He called them day one, day two, day three, etc. And even said there was evening and morning the first day, second day, etc. Then, He restated that it was six literal days when He gives the 10 commandments in Exodus 20! To try and rely on not understanding the literary usage of the word die or death to then mean day doesn't mean day is a lack of utilizing logic or reason and choosing to believe whatever flawed scientific theories you were taught instead of trusting God the Creator of everything and the inspired/God-breathed Scripture. When you encounter a situation where you think Scripture can't mean what it says, you need to remember that man is the fallen and untrustworthy of the two beings and that God has specified exactly what He means and we must not understand or know what we thought we knew and need to rethink our views. God is always right!
