This was a one in a million tv series. It was simply perfect. Kirstie Alley carried a lot of that show for me. Her character was paramount to the show, and her performance was probably the best of her career. I cried like a baby when Virgilia said goodbye to George.

This miniseries was a monumental work of art. Just incredible. When this first came out, it was reported millions and millions of households tuned in. It was THE show in the 80s that riveted the nation. It was THAT good. I would suggest BUYING the dvd because you absolutely will watch it over again.

I have this series on DVD but it's been so long since I've watched it I'd forgotten all the big name stars that were in it. When N & S first hit the airwaves it was the first time I saw Patrick Swayze and fell madly in love with him. 😊

Having watched all these great actors over my lifetime either in films or on tv shows, it has been a pleasure to have experienced their superb acting skills and sad to think they are no longer with us…along with the many more great stars from the movie world and entertainment industry. ZDFNeo hat bis vor kurzem einmal jährlich alle Folgen ausgestrahlt. Ansonsten ist die Serie recht günstig als DVD-Box erhältlich.

Die Staffeln 1 und 2 sind grossartig Die 3. Staffel ist unterirdisch und so peinlich schlecht, dass sie schon wieder lustig ist (erinnert ihr euch noch an den Swayze-Doppelgänger?😂) Das war wohl auch der Grund, weshalb man beim letzten Mal (Kabel1?) die letzte Staffel ausgelassen hat

I'm British and I first watched this when I was at school. The cast was literally like a who's who of acting and with the younger actors, it was just perfect. I loved it. This is where my Interest in American history started, I'm currently rewatching Ken Burns The Civil War.

Same here! 18yo at the time, I lived behind the iron curtain but was able to watch it via West German TV. Didn’t know anyone of the cast, not even Liz Taylor! Now it blew me away to see all the legendary names!

It was a beautiful tribute. Some of the passings I knew about, some iwasn't sure about. And some I had no knowledge of. One mistake I saw. In one of the split screens of Olivia Cole , the picture on the left is actress Fay Hauser, whom I assume is still alive.

You could be right. She really looks more like Fay Hauser than Olivia Cole. I checked the images again and they are all labeled as Olivia Cole.
