Guys, this is crazy! You need to think outside the box for this one! Let me know in the comments, how would you utilize this? What would you use this for? So much more to come! 🤩
I can't wait to see what's to come I think using an epoxy inlay would be beneficial because I'm sure the skull was done in UV resin which may have caused the release issue. Id love to see it in 3 more ways , one with epoxy resin and epoxy inlay one with epoxy resin and eco inlay and one epoxy resin with clay inlay. Actually the eco and clay would be great to see in UV resin as well so I hope you give some of this a go! Just to see if the different types of inlays effect the results.. very intrigued by this one!
OMG DANIEL! 🤯 THAT'S AWESOME! 🙏🏻 I JUST got into resin within the last year so I'm sorry beginner level... But this really is cool! 🤩 THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS 💯
Not quite sure how to explain my idea...Will have to work on it to see if it will work, but.....I'm thinking of doing a 3D collage. Several thin layers, each with the same imprint but slightly offset from one another, and then the layers sealed together. Each imprint in a different colour so it resembles shadows. Sorry, I can see it in my head but not very good at explaining it
Hmm 🤔 very interesting - I have so many different buttons I’ll be giving this a try once the shops open + I can buy some hairspray - thank you Daniel ❤❤❤
I wonder if you realize how much you've changed the world of resin. Almost everyone copies everyone else and nothing really new ever comes to light. However, with you and your channel, you've given resin creators a whole new world. I appreciate you and your channel. Thank you!!!!!
Yesss!!!! So true! You, Claire and Wendy are my absolute favorites all with different approaches, all amazing and true gems to the resin community 🙌 ❤️
Yes he has…and I love the collab resin too. It’s so crystal clear! I’ve been watching since his start….he has come a long way. He was so shy in the beginning 🤗. He is my top 3 resin ppl
So much easier then making silicone inlays and cheaper because you don't need to buy inlays or silicone to make them! I'll say this again, you my friend are a resin genius! Your growth says it all! Love what you do always! And thank you for sharing both epoxy and UV ! I'm an epoxy girl so this was fantastic for me!
@@daniel..cooperit really does have a lot of potential. Like I said I think the issue was you used a UV resin piece as the inlay vs using a clay or epoxy I think you would get the results you want with making sure the inlay is made from the same material or im curious about ecos and clays releasing too
So....I would do the heart shape and add a small picture inside, like a loved one or a pet, then back it with the clear plastic and colored resin. Or print out a favorite poem to put inside. Wedding vows. A lock of baby's hair. Ashes. All kinds of options. Alternatively, I'd color the inside shape with mica or chameleon powders, then back it with a contrasting color. Lovely keepsakes or pendants.
Not the poster, but printable acrylic sheets (or similar) can be cut to shape with scissors, then glued down without damaging the photo to create an resin\epoxy-proof bubble, so that the epoxy esin can be poured over to seal in the custom photo permanently. I'm guessing that's the idea.
OMG! I've two small vials with my parent's ashes that I have been waiting for YEARS for a good vessel! This is a perfect idea! Thank you for mentioning!
It would be cute to do the 2 hearts as pendants or keychains for loved ones since one heart fits in the other. And thank you for showing the results for the epoxy. Very helpful 🙂
Are you sure you're not related to Michaelangelo and/or Leonardo DaVinci???!!! Your mind is astonishing! Thanks once again for so generously sharing it witb we lowly mortals. 😮❤
I’m manically searching my house for hairspray as I rewatch… I know I HAVE to have an old can from my “fancy days”… oh my CHEEZUS I love a good resin experiment!!!! Thank you SO much for doing the research for us. You’ve saved me *SO* much $$, time, and frustration over the years!!!!❤❤❤
Daniel, I think this is your best experiment yet. I have an online Catholic gift store, as well as traveling to parishes and conferences, and I have a beautiful collection of antique/vintage medals. I have put the medals straight into my jewelry pieces, but they are more costly. So, I cast some of them in a silicone mold and they were just an ok. The medals have a lot of detail and the didn’t necessarily translate well with the silicone mold. I had thought about reaching out to Wendy @ Toonpish Crafts and see if she had any ideas as to how to make inlays since the relief on the medal is inverted from her wax stamps. BUT…. This…. This is a game changer for me. I’m super excited about this. Thank you! Personally, I like it when you show the whole process as opposed to skipping parts. I appreciate you showing the mistakes as well.
If you taped the back of the medal, sprayed it with hairspray then poured a bit of resin over could you effectively make a mold of the medal? Just musing...but it might be worth a try?
When you put the epoxy in the eyes and nose it covered the hairspray. Thats why it bonded. I love this idea with the uv resin! That opens up a whole new world for different ideas. Well done Daniel ❤you are a genius 😊
I think this would be great for making Memorial pieces. The hollow heart you made, then add ashes, a lock of hair, etc. in the middle before sealing it closed… could be a really nice keepsake.
I just love you showing the trial & Error side of creating! I already have ideas. I’ve been thinking for some time now about a hollow mold where front & back.. for putting tiny mementos like a baby’s 1st tooth or lock of hair, etc. Also, you may want to try glycerin ; I’ve made things like a snow globe. I’d use that with some glitter or tiny decorative flakes. Looking forward to what’s next!!
Wow. You never cease to amaze me. I don't know where your ideas come from. But I am so glad you have them and are so generous to share them. Thank you. Very well done.
You can leave the eyelet in. It won’t weigh enough to cause issues. Any figure you dunk will have a varied center of gravity (CG) depending on the shape. The fact that the skull floats flat means that this does not depend on the CG. Also having the eyelet remain in place will make adjustments easier to accomplish when setting into place. If you don’t have a light enough eyelet, you can make a small gripping stick from resin and affix it to the back of the skull. For doing epoxy, you can use the one you made from UV resin and pour 2 part silicone in to make a copy of the skull in silicone. Be sure to embed a gripping tool into the back of the silicone skull before curing. Once the silicone skull is cured, pour the epoxy (filling the skull sockets first) and position it. Use a clamp or support to hold it in place. Once the epoxy is cured, pop the silicone skull out and rejoice.
I don’t work with resin, I work with steel and copper mostly. That being said, this channel is really opened my eyes up to some new ideas. Thanks for all you do.
Your enthusiasm for this art is infectious...hands up I laughed at the eyelet snap as this has happened to me several times 😂 thanks for another great video 😊
Mr. Cooper, you really are a genius, and we followers, appreciate your kindness in sharing your experiments and genius ideas! I definitely like the hair spray trick! A ++++++
Years ago i use to make copies of parts for either repairs or to copy designs and we would air brush pva to create the barrier then epoxyworks released an article about using hair spray as a release agent and we started using that, we found it needed 3-4 light coats built up to consistently work, about a year ago i made a epoxy stand for a heart shaped burl and resin keepsake ring box i made so i used dashboard shine as i didnt have hair spray to hand that contains silicone and sprayed the bottom part of the heart that i want to use to creat a perfect copy in the new resin stand, i coated and polished it about 6 times till i could feel it was very slick and it worked perfectly, when the resin cured it popped right out.
This is excellent!!!Daniel you are awesome, I can’t even imagine what goes through your mind when you think up a new experiment.Mrs Cooper keep an eye on your creams, hair products and anything in your house, when Daniel is on the search for a new project!😆❤️🥇
You are brilliant! Also incredibly generous to share your genius with the world. A simple thank you is not enough, but it is so very sincere, THAnK YoU!!!
WOW! Daniel you are amazing! I am rather new to resin and I RUN every morning to my computer to see what new thing you are bringing to our community! Thank you so much!!!
I hope your throat feels better. Thank you so much for sharing everything you learn with the community. As someone just getting into UV resin, it is so much fun watching you experiment even when things don’t go as planned. It also makes me feel better when I mess up. ❤ I think it would be cool to make a bunch of small resin pieces and make a shaker charm with different colours in the different shapes
This is absolutely amazing 😮 Daniel you are a true Genius! Something you have proven to your viewers time and time again! 🤔 💭 I use your glue in resin for glitter suspension all the time!
I'm going to buy hairspray tomorrow - thanks Dan, what brilliant results. Thanks too for demonstrating what not to do - to save us from making the same mistakes!
Hi, from Brazil! I'm also a resin artist here and I was blown away with this technique, but I really wanted to do this with epoxy resin, so… I tried spraying A LOT of hairspray on the surface of the inlay piece and… I just wanted to share with you that IT WORKED!! 🎉 I have just demolded the first piece and it came out pretty easy! I'm so happy!! Now I have millions of ideas on how to use this!! 😅😅
I've said it many times nut here is a reminder... Mr. Cooper, please only use your powers for good, not evil! 😜 You are brilliant! Now, I must go, Aquanet and I have a date....
Mr. Cooper WOW! This is incredible & really has endless possibilities!! I just started resin jewelry last year and I'm a huge UV Resin fan. This opens up a door to so much for me ! Thank you for sharing this discovery of yours. I love watching you create & your excitement and laughter is contagious!!
I was selling off some craft stuff to clear room for new stuff and three women came by to pick stuff up and every one of them mentioned your name. I remember when you were nervous about doing videos. You’re a legend now.
I got mold release to work 🎉 2 good coats and let it dry for 3 hours in between, then 12 more hours in the same room as the pour. Used Craft Resin brand resin and let it cure for 6 hours before un-molding. Only put pressure on skull from underside and it literally popped out without needing to pull from the topside. The skull did shift position during cure, approximately 2 hours into cure. Leading me to believe initial placement needs to be more accurate because of the displacement of the resin, or holding the 'skull' in place for a bit until the resin compensates enough to hold. I also tried an intricate patterned button (plastic) at the same time and worked beautifully. Next will be an aluminum stud type piece in a larger flat mold. Thank you so very much for starting this journey. ❤
Great hack Daniel! That said, (as you suggested...) you can always use the completed UV resin one to make a silicone mold and drop that into the epoxy ones... Just a thought. Thanks, D!
I just took a uv resin jewelry class at my local library yesterday and loved it. I've always wanted to try my hand at it. I'm really glad i found your channel. I just subscribed. There's so much I'm looking forward to learning. Cheers mate!
Such a wonderful idea! As you say, the possibility’s are endless. On the flip side, I can’t imagine how that hairspray would feel in your hair, lol. I never used spray in my hair. But I will be trying this amazing ability the hairspray has with resin. Thank you so much for sharing!
This is awesome when you popped out the first skull my jaw hit the floor in amazement! Glow in the dark would be incredible in the skull!! You are such a RESIN BLESSING!!
Excellent discovery. I'm new to messing with resin and I'm really only using it to develop my own shapes for game pieces. But I do also work with silicone a lot and you're inspiring me to try this with silicone on silicone.
I do craft events as an off loom bead weaver. I have trader friends who watch your RU-vid stuff & absolutely love you !! Ever thought of doing off loom beading tutorials😂!! Hugs from North East England
