VN24 - 28.11.2022 - Essen / Germany - Around 9:45 p.m., the 56-year-old motorist was driving his semitrailer truck westbound on Bochumer Landstraße in the direction of Essen-Steele. Before the junction of Steeler Bergstraße, he lost control of his articulated truck for unexplained reasons and crashed into the left rear end of a city bus. The tractor-trailer combination tipped onto its side and pushed a total of eight parked cars into each other. In the course of the accident, the tractor-trailer slid further into two cars from the flowing traffic and into a traffic light system, which it completely knocked down. A total of five injured persons had to be treated first by rescue workers and taken to surrounding hospitals. Four people involved in the accident were seriously injured, one person escaped with minor injuries. The members of the Essen fire department proved to be very diligent helpers. Thus, a large part of the food from the refrigerated trailer could be reloaded into prepared trucks and rescued. The recovery work continued throughout the night, so that the Bochumer Landstraße had to be fully closed until well into the morning hours of the following day. Police specialists of the traffic accident investigation team secured still in the night comprehensively the accident traces.
