The original plan for day 9 was to drive to Manali over the Kunzum Pass and then tomorrow drive further north towards Leh.
Unfortunately, both Kunzum Pass and Baralacha La Pass are closed due to snow so we will have to take a detour of 1024 km to reach Leh, total distance will be 1569 km from Kaza to Leh.
We will instead drive via Tirthan Valley, Manali, Gopalpur, Pathankot, Patnitop, Srinagar and Kargil. It will be an experience that way too.
The roads are often in good condition but sometimes the asphalt is missing and there are no road barriers. In some places the road is hanging on to the almost vertical rock faces but I never experience any vertigo or fear for my life. The Royal Enfield Himalayan felt secure on roads like this.
During four weeks we are going on a motorcycle adventure in the Himalayan Mountains in Spiti Valley, Kashmir and Ladakh.
We will cover over 4000 km on our Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 cc motorcycles and we´ll be visiting places like Chandigarh, Shimla, Kaza, Srinagar, Kargil, Leh, Hunder and Pangong Lake.
