282KM Coast to Coast Epic | Jack & Joe Take on The Reivers Way

This video contains product placement on behalf of Rotor. Jack & Joe take on their toughest challenge yet when they attempt the 282km Reivers Way coast to coast epic.
Starting on the west coast at Whitehaven in the north of England, the route skirts across the Lake District before passing through Carlisle on the way to the Scottish border at Kielder Forest. After a brutal 20 mile stretch of gravel, there's a relatively easy run in to the finish on the east coast at Tynemouth. It's a classic coast to coast route, and completing it in a day is a tough task for any cyclist.
Will they boys manage the 282km's before nightfall? Will Jack earn his finishers beer? You'll have to watch to find out.

@Jack Mtb gloves are fine because all bicycles and bicycle kit = cool bicycle kit! I do much the same. More protection in case of crash, more durable in a crash, often better grip on the bars/brakes, and I find better ‘like a glove” fit than their road brethren.

Gents - as the original Reivers Cycle Route creator - note the Reivers Way is a walking route NOT the route you guys cycled, I liked the vid made just before I've brought out a new route map showing one route version which is 100% on tarmac and one intertwining route which is as much off-road as possible. Happy to send you a copy of the new map to review.

I think this is the best video so far. One thing I don't understand is your time of 12 hours tho'....u started at 5.30AM , and entered N-castle at 9PM ....which is a 15½ hour ride . Does this mean u stopped for 3½ hours comfort breaks ?

When filming these type of videos we always have a lot of back and forth to get the shots, which always takes up some time. So the 3.5hrs are down to this - Stopping for filming, eating, chatting etc. Hope that helps. Joe & Jack.

Christopher Sanchez I totally agree. A 44 with a 10-42 could work for me, but the jumps at the top end are big I’d rather have the double. I don’t want to give up the downhill speed that you don’t need in cx or mtb.
@pingpongballz5998
@pingpongballz5998 5 лет назад
@@jonathanzappala I use to run a 44 up front. It was high. Switched to 42 still kinda high. I think a 40 would be good. I'll spin out on the descents
@Digi20
@Digi20 5 лет назад
i really like my 46/30 and 11-36 on the gravel bike. its basically 1x 95% of the time (big chainring) with okayish jumps between the gears, and when you are really cooked, got an extremely steep off-road climb and/or have lots of bike-packing stuff with you, 30-36 still lets you comfortably climb anything. i would not mind an added 10 tooth sprocked at the back for fast descents, but its not like i need to race with a laden steel gravel bike, so yeah, all in all, perfect setup.
