I think he’s adorable!! My 11 yr old son is addicted to The Titanic! (Not the movie) So his whole bedroom is under the sea. He would flip out for this!!
Just a warning to all! Last night I was trimming excess cured resin from an ornament using an Exacto knife. All of a sudden it slipped and cut a two + inch line on my leg just above my knee. I am a widow and couldn’t get a hold of anyone to take me to the ER. To top the craziness off, I take a daily baby aspirin so I was bleeding profusely and also had no bandages. My dil had left some sanitary pads so two of those and some painters tape got me to the hospital. Needless to say, all the staff got a laugh out of my makeshift bandages. Seven stitches later I was home and doing fine!
OMG! that is scary. It's one reason I don't care to use the X-Acto knife to trim. I bought a deburring tool. Plus my son was trained as an EMT and I kept getting the "look".😅 I'm glad you got to the ER. But the bandages they use after surgery are just pads with no adhesive. Don't know where you are but I'm in Idaho if anything happens to someone who needs help.
A trick a learned if you dont want the resin to run into another part is to creat a barrier with hot glue gun to make a dam. Let it dry and pour your resin and once its cure to where you want take the hot glue out and pour the rest of the mold.
To be honest, I don't mind the floating sequin look in there. It's kind of like a floating brain and those colors the way they blended are beautiful.❤ God bless
If you use the alcohol ink on top of the glitter portion, you will get rid of that line that you don't like. Given how recently you made this, you may not even have to seal it in, but if you do, a spray sealant should do it. For that matter.. The spray sea glass paints would also be a good option, but using an alcohol ink that's already in there would be my choice most times... I've decided that some pieces needed to be purple, and just gone over them to make them look like amethyst, too. So results highly depend on mood and what's already around ;)
I think he is beautiful! I will add that, since there has been so much discussion over if/how quickly, alcohol inks fade, if you'd be willing to sit this guy in the sun for a few weeks and show us what happens to him. A video into another video!
I think the eyes help. Instead of filling from the top, maybe if you dropped the resin into each color separately each leg would remain a single color. Does that even make sense?
I really like that mold! I’ve never seen the reverse drop before and I’m not sure it worked well. I know you wanted something more rainbow. The silver made it pop though!
This is cool I was wondering what if you took it out when it’s a little bendy and formed him around something like a wine bottle then he would be able to stand up
What if you created a dam at the base of the head with uv resin before you fill the head? That way it would keep the glitter from flowing and you could completely fill the head without having a demarcation line.
Michelle this is so adorable. I love the silver dots. I am so confused about what Let’s Resin to buy. I just ordered the epoxy resin. Mostly, what I make or coasters and trays. Can you let me know which one I should use. I know in this one you used the fast cure.
