Looking good Justin, I use Army painter primer, plate metal, works great for car parts, but it has some solvents in it, might be the issue, Cheers mate
Ive given up on Army Painter. Too splatty and ruined some epics I had . I now love Vallejo primer with the 2 nozzles. One nozzle is super fine spray and is beyond brilliant . I also rate Rustoleum Black really well too. get a sheet of paper behind horse to make lense to stop hunting and focus the background too. Im in Australia and spray outside so i get warm air that dries it out quick

Great painting job, on both horse's and riders. I've heard army painter undercoat wasn't that good, but we listen and learn. Just one small point and please don't take it the wrong way, but the , i think you mentioned the drummer's horse, well the model horse appears to have a docked / cropped tail, in British cavalry fashion. Not being a pain, just wondering why . I know, I know, it's only wargaming and our hobby. Apologies if I've offended you.

Fantastic work! I've never had a problem with Army Painter's Primers, though the problem you describe I've had with AK Interactive's Primer. Sprayed on as if it was satin finish and too smooth. Otherwise, everything looks great (even the riders), though I don't fault you for wanting to start over. Sometimes you just have to if you're not happy with the results. I've found myself going 50/50 on contrast vs normal. There are some colors that just don't lay down right, so I'll do certain bits in Contrast and all others with normal. Thanks for another great watch! AND, nice Spitfire in the background there.
The horses are looking good. I tend to put a wash over my "normal" painted horses to tie them in with the contrast paints. Shame about the white primer :( have you tried contacting AP?
Nice update Justin, sorry to see your'e having primer issues, i use Vallejo brush on surface primer, always had good results with it mate, horses look excellent, i watched the said video, and unsubscribed from that channel, fed up with the soy tears of these utter fools, i don't play ww2, but if i did i'd happily play any race. Nice work mate. I keep hearing about this fool. Having a degree in history I hate all this softening and distortion of history. As well as the ignorance of it. I do not know the video but i am guessing he is one of those high subscriber gets loads of free stuff GW types? Who did for click bait knowing reaction gets hims views and more cash.
