Hi all , got these finished at last a really enjoyable project . They are for sale contact me at furphybrushwithhistory@outlook.com if your interested . Regards Gav.
Great looking unit there, Mate! The extra-fine detailing you've done on the wings/lace etc. really gives them that 'Elite' Guards look while keeping a 'campaign' feel... The animation of each individual figure really gives a unique character to the unit too. Your base-work choice of 'meadow' grass and the green tones serve to accentuate the reds and greys of the uniforms and suggest a 'Waterloo' scenario, in keeping with the late shakos of that period. (A good painter will be aware of small but important details like these...) Good luck with the sale, but I'd imagine these will be snapped up by a discerning collector or gamer! Excellent minis. xx SF
Your a master at painting Napoleonics Gav. I really like your basing too. Really tops off the figures. How did you get the GMB flags looking so dynamic? Mine never turn out like that.
Cheers Paul , i use wood working pva the 15 minute dry time then scrunch them up . I some times have to trim them if they overlap (once you close up the two halves be as accurate as possible it gets hard to move very quickly ) Or use decorators pva its watery so more forgiving . Regards Gav.
No the colour shades are my own interpretation the facing colour i.e blue is the colour that the guards and any regiment with royal in the title would use . Regards Gav.
colours are Vallejo and AK next gen as i jump about with colours and it was some time ago i could not give the paint codes . Jacket hull red, wine red amaranth red (a bit of scarlet for officers) trousers London grey rock grey , mid grey , sky grey . I mix them by eye so no ratios . Basically i try and achieve a washed out look that's where the amaranth red for the jacket and the rock grey for the trousers come in . There's no triad method just mixing paint until it works . Regards Gav.
i start with two coats of the base colour and pull paint in from the other colours as i say . Its a case of putting the colours on the pallet end experiment to get to a colour you are happy with . Its rare for one painter to replicate another with this method as there is no set ratio . Regards Gav.
I glue all the figures together that way i can fill any gaps as needed . Then prime and then paint . The figures are painted individually stuck to bottle tops . Regards Gav.
These guys look great man. Did you have any problems putting them together? I glued 5 of them and already dreading the rest. The ease of the warlord models have spoiled me so far.
Hi Bobby the only problem i encountered was the firing pose no matter what i did i couldn't get them to fit and glue . That's why i left them out of this unit but the rest fit fine . I used Tamiya extra thin on my figures its very hot and usually does the job , cheers marra . Regards Gav.
Bonjour mon ami GAVIN 😀👍 Hi Gavin ✌️😃great looks I like this figures brittish infantery Awesome job for the paintings 💪 Congrats buddy good morning of France 👍😀🇫🇷✌️
Very impressive, Gav. I think your figures are probably most used in wargaming, but would certainly be an absolute adornment for every showcase. Outstanding work, Gav. Best wishes, Joachim
Hi Gav how on earth have you painted all the lace on the cuffs and front of jackets I'm painting mine under a l.e.d magnifier and I can't see that detail just little lines these are just amazing I am very impressed with your work I can only dream of getting to your level of detail excellent work my friend
They looking awesome Gav, top work. I often take a photo instrad of a vid. Doh! Tbh I didnt even know the flags had a "side" until Gran Preigos video. I think the hat's are done in oilskins because it had rained for days before Waterloo. There are diaries of soliders moaning about the rain.
Brilliant gav they i really like this set from perrys ive got some more to do and ill have to check my flags on my guards units i think ive put the kings colour on the left gonna start catching up with vids now had a couple of bad months with the head demons over thinking things anyway take care mate keep the vids coming regards jay
Thank you Victor i shall have some 10mm ACW tomorrow, i had hoped to paint the rest of the Chevy but the day temperature has been -1/-3 and i need the windows open so it needs to wait until Sunday when the temperature rises ! Regards Gav.
@@gavinbooth Can't wait to see your ACW figures. It's been cold here too. Haven't been able to work on the diorama because it's too cold in the garage.
