In this episode we explore some of New Zealand's North Island awesomest places driving around in search of the free things to do and tourist attractions, CouchSurfing, camping and visiting friends. In two weeks we spent a total of zero dollars for accommodation- the beer and food was on us.

Maya has such an adorable personality and she makes me laugh. I think she will end up being as ornery as her Father ;). I love one of your songs and found its name after listening to many of Kevin MacLeod songs....it is "Somewhere Sunny", but I do wish it was longer. This is a neat video that had to take a bunch of editing work after all the filming was finished, which is also work, at least for me. Maya does a great narrating job.....and that writing and its research must also be a lot of work.....thank you all three!!!

Thank you Ed for appreciating our video-making efforts! Yes, this video in particular meant 4 days of editing 40-50 hours sifting through hundreds of clips, choosing the best ones, putting them together, researching, writing the script, narrating, translating, subtitles, and even uploading it in RU-vid took 2 additional days of try-and-fail with very slow internet here in New Caledonia. But I hope it's worth it, we enjoy doing this and we are grateful for people like you, who appreciate us :)

I just love that you are not only going on an adventure, but that Maya is receiving a top notch geographical, anthropological, and sociological education at the same time! Tell me, we're the insides of the Hobbit houses still furnished?

Thank you! Yes, Maya is learning so much it's great! There is no inside the Hobbit house, just an outside. I guess the inside of the Hobbit house was film in a studio. Only the Green Dragon Inn is a building in which you can enter and it is furnished like in the film and it's awesome!

Y’all should sail to The Northern group islands of The Cook Islands, Manihiki and it’s sister island Rakahanga it’s beautiful and very isolated the people there are very welcoming and friendly.

It was tons of fun driving around North Island and sometimes just the driving itself on the secluded green roads of New Zealand was a beautiful experience. So much to see and do in this country!

Haha, why is it lake Smelly? We didn't detect any smell, maybe because it was extremely windy that day.

it has bad algae bloom today its quite bad you smell it driving past even with the windows up. very bright green gets worse in Summer

Please don t become just another "lonely travel" blog where you are enumerating places you ve visited. There are millions of those around www. What made you different is your wittiness, intelligence, emotions and people you are meeting along side your trip (or should i say life :D ) and now we just see brief, fast running.
