We made a Llangollen canal boat trip years ago, took two weeks of just going slow. Walks on the canal paths, visiting other boaters, historic sites. Of all our travels it was the most relaxing ever. My wife settled in, we would stop at small villages for supplies, classic pubs for a brew. Always wanted to go back but never made it, but we have found memories. Thanks for your videos. BC Canada

@@CruisingTheCut You’re welcome, and there’s no shame in advertising. That’s the name of the game on here. If advertising someone’s product you believe in helps the channel and helps you then I’m fairly sure you have most everyone’s support.

@@CruisingTheCutWe could easily tell how passionate you were about the product, you did an absolutely great job. Sponsor spots can be rather enjoyable when the creator genuinely likes the product, it feels less like mere corpo approved talking points and more like a friend telling you about this wonderful thing he found. :) If you do more sponsor spots like that then I'm sure nobody will have a problem with it and you can rest easy knowing that you haven't alienated your fans, if somebody somehow does have a problem then he or she can just skip it.

All these years on and I’m still enthralled as ever with both the channel and unique gem that is the Canal system! In every video, virtually without fail, there is something that makes me smile or makes me wish I could find that pace of life for myself and my loved ones. The world needs slowing and appreciating these days. All the best to the good gentleman moving boats and to your future endeavors! I will, as always, hoist a cold one when I finally slow down for the day!

Made me look back , I crossed one canal everyday on my way to school for 10 years , just past the Rover Factory on my left heading into Solihull Taking me back 50 years :-) We had a brilliant maths teacher 'Swotty Ansell ' , he was old :-) Would join in mountain walks and get left far behind , passing us while we rested . 'Tortoise/Hare ' totally . Sadly , his last walk was near a canal :-( I think he would be happy .

In the ocean cruising world, the life of a delivery captain often means sailing in seasons where the weather is such that only an idiot would sail. You aren't always going to be rolled by a hurricane, but you can pretty much guarantee a couple of gales. I'd say that I'd expect a delivery captain on the canals to be less exciting - much like normal cruising except in the rain. But let's be honest - this is England, everybody cruises in the rain

Narrowboat Scarlet Lady was mentioned in another vlog, from memory I think it was briefly mentioned on an old Foxes Afloat video. So It’s great to finally see inside Scarlet Lady. 🙂🐿🌈❤️ P.s thanks for telling me about the Readly app. I have a friend that feels bad about spending money on magazines about his various hobbies and interests. Very nice, David! Thank you! If you discussed this and I missed it, I sincerely apologize. There were several interruptions while watching this and I restarted a couple of times. The interruptions did not stop but I DID watch the entire video and found it quite interesting. Hence the question. Does he pick up a fair amount of multiple night boat transfers? Does he stay with the boat during these occasions or does he hop scotch a vehicle during these times. That is a risky security question and I really was only curious about whether he makes use of the facilities on board? Sleeping, cooking, that sort of thing. You asked him if he ever found himself in a situation where the boat might be in less than ideal condition and he very politely replied that he transfers all kinds of boats, so yes. What the question was in relation to was interrupted and I did not back it up. It might have been asking this very question and if so, I apologize. I enjoy your videos and there is no disrespect intended. People do something similar in the states (caravans and big truck caravans) moving them from coast to coast or from the North to Florida. You can ride the train in a sleeper car from Maine or Montreal (somewhere in the North) to Miami and you can reserve a spot on the car hauler but Caravans exceeed many of the height and length limits so there are those who make a living transporting them seasonally. My mother did something similar in the 70s & 80s, moving moving trucks to locations that had a higher need than inventory. She had a regular job, programming and operating robots but she would take a run within a fairly close distance of her grandchildren. She had 15 grandchildren at various stages of development and she considered it a grandmother’s prerogative to corrupt them all equally. Running a truck allowed her frequent visits (3 of her children were in California with one stationed at the Marine Base in Southern California, another just north of the Bay Area and the oldest & mother of 5 between the two) and the trip was fully covered (fuel, flight, per diem) by the company. She enjoyed it and I appreciated the shift of focus to another sibling’s child(ren).
