I always prefer Japanese, my only issue is that sometimes when I'm mid combat i miss some dialogue , that's the only reason I'm thinking of switching to English but idk
Jp VA is Yui ishikawa for anime fan she is famous for Mikasa Ackerman and Violet Evergarden For gacha gamer, she is famous for USS Enterprise, Lucia from PGR, and Liskarm from Arknights
voice of 2B is Ishikawa Yui and voice of 9S is Hanae Natsuki. I’ll play in Japanese because of these two. Plus, other top tier Japanese voice actors are also in it, e.g Namikawa Daisuke
@@katalyst_ no. I just enjoy the Japanese dub more , because I think it's better. Though , Yui Ishikawa voice acting 2B is a big plus as I fucking love her voice.
On the one hand, Yui Ishikawa has a strong reputation for good reason, on the other hand, Kira Buckland also does fantastic with what is her breakout role after mainly being known for her role in the cult adventure game The White Chamber. You know what this means? I am decisively undecisive.
9S one came closer to the Japanese version as a dub even tho they sounded so different, yet both captured his personality perfectly. I have mixed feelings for 2B, it sounded exactly how I thought she would sound before I even played it in Japanese and that's a good thing, and the English one you could tell they already tried their best to copy the Japanese one but it just doesn't work because of how English works, there's simply less emotions in English or rather it's able to express coldness better than Japanese. The Japanese sounded like a soft robot and the English sounded like a sassy robot, maybe English Dub just needs to sound a bit more feminine somehow. Either way this is definitely a preference thing, whichever personality people see 2B to have will probably prefer the dub that fits it more.
Japanese 2B sounds a bit like a stereotypical cold anime character (I also can't unhear Mikasa LOL) while the English works better for me as a super advanced android.

My preference is the Japanese, and not only because it's the original language (for example, MGS I play it in English). It's just that they changed the characters and their personalities so much in English to fit the target demographic. 2B's english dub loses the stoic and calm demeanor that's typical of Japanese characters in media.
I keep switching between English and Japanese dub, both are really good that sometimes I didn't notice that they didn't speak the language I was intended to set
Both versions works so well because of the game's serious setting. Everything falls apart when you need to be well more animated and lively that's where English starts to sound like an episode of hi-5. Maybe that's just me.
I know a lot of people here prefer japanese voice and I know jp voice is good but English voice in this game is so good too especially 2B. I like them both jp and English but for me English stands out.
Why would I ever use a dub that wasn't a part of original creation and original direction? Makes bo sense for me. It's like watching a foreign movie with swapped actors.

@@felipeozalmeida Buckland's 2B has none of the quiet, distant, *stoic* bitterness that underscores all of 2B's decisions. The voice director has interpreted her character as 'tough soldier lady' instead, because I guess that's what they think resonates with Americans more.
People fighting in the comments need to grow up. Let people enjoy what they want. Just because you like the Japanese version more doesn’t mean you’re better and more authentic.
English 2b is stern like a soldier, and sarcastic, maybe even a little mean Japanese 2b is cold and obeys like a doll, but carries around a heavy sadness They're almost different characters, the English voice direction didn't quite understand the tone, but both actresses are very talented
In my personal opinion, the English dub feels like the voice actors are doing 'work' with the script(except 9s), but the Japanese dub just makes me feel like I'm watching a movie and synchronized with the characters.......

@@sirmiluch6856 I guess the correct option is it depends. You still rely in the subtitles to precisely translate to your language what was spoken. Local expressions and humor may be lost or make zero sense.
imo absolutely all characters sound way better in japanese, however I must admit that this game has a solid english dub which is rare enough to be praised.
Im was so glad the English dub for this game was Good. I always want to use JP dub on anime looking games because it just feels right. But I switched to EN dub because there are usually dialogues while mid combat in this game.

Yes! I would recommend it. The sword play/ fighting is amazing plus the game has more than 3 endings. If you like waifus, swords and atmosphere (music/mood) you will like this game. Personally my favorite thing to do is go fishing.
The original language of the creators of entertainment media makes for a more immersive experience. This was made by 'X' people, who speak and behave in an 'X' fashion ('X' in this case being Japanese). The connection between a culture's speech and mannerisms is lost when you slap a dub over the content. Consequently, many dubs of entertainment media are quite jarring to my ears. Some dubs do a decent job, but 99 times out of 100, nothing beats the original.
Damn the English version is so much better than the Japanese version that it's almost not even fair comparing them 😂 9S and 2B just sound like every other anime character I've ever heard. Doesn't help that I've heard yui Ishikawa speak before in violet evergarden and attack on titan. Really hard to give a character a chance at feeling unique when their voice is something you've heard a bazillion times before. 2B just doesn't sound like 2B in Japanese. She sounds like mikasa or Violet. 9S just sounds like a random anime boy. Pod sounds too damn serious. He sounds like HE should be the main character or the villain with that kind of voice. A voice which I've also heard before.
As someone who watches anime almost everyday, 2B and Mikasa sound exactly the same. I love her VA but I truly wish 2B sounds a bit unique and different than Mikasa. I know she could do it but I think she couldn't because that's just naturally her cold stoic voice for stoic characters. 9S in Japanese sounds great it is just a bit high pitched for me. The VA for him also voiced Kaneki and there are some parts where he does sound like Kaneki (not necessarily a bad thing). As for the English cast it helps that I haven't really watched English dubs so I don't recognize their previous characters. They both sound great actually. 9S especially. I think English 9S fits because he's developed to be a curious android; a scanner. He's meant to be with a bit more emotions. That way he's curious and looks for more intel and data. *spoilers* Like there was an ending called the D Ending where he literally abandoned the mission because he was so curious about the machines and he was never found ever since. Lmao
Original is the only way to go. Always. No exceptions. I'm cringing hard when I see people actually playing Automata dubbed. The dub is a hot garbage. They completely altered these characters. Absolutely disgusting.
Every cultural medium is better with its original voice, this is how it was created by original creators. Not to mention about cultural background. Dub is always the worst way to consume ANY foreign media. IT's good for 5yo kids.
