Anyone else notice how much better Johan is getting at explaining what's going on?? He also seems much more comfortable in front of the camera - love to see it 👏
I’d be totally happy to see more technical videos of Johann’s thought processes on fabrication as he definitely is thorough and understands things need access for maintenance. He would be a solid mentor!
Great vlog. Loving the longer format. Johan is awesome. Getting better all the time at speaking in front of the camera. Can’t wait to see the full rebuild of the r32 GTR.
Congrats guys on keeping the shop clean, organized, and efficient. Being organized is the key to driving them instead of repairing and or replacing the expensive parts you didn't install properly. Half the DIY builds that aren't finished are because builders are unorganized and have no plan, budget, etc. A good idea for high-performance street and track vehicles is to do what NASA does, after the final assembly or as they call it "Closeout", take a photo of the position of the finished part, assembly, fluid level, etc. I recommend using a paint marker on critical fasteners, oil, fuel, coolant lines, filters, Fill and drain bolts, etc. to verify they were torqued, secured, and filled with fluids.. Tearing up your new Strange engineering 9 inch Ford differential / Gearvender overdrive isn't a good day.
The fins on the inter cooler Johan was taking about, the main benefit of it being like that is to maximize surface area with the added benefit of increasing the total airflow
idk if it’s just me but i really miss seeing adam send a car out like the 240 or even the chaser and just getting doors. this stuff is definitely interesting, just liked the drifting simple videos with his friends.
That dudes a joke, he has very poor judgment on an extremely important part of tuning. Knock detection is the most important thing to monitor when tuning and he has Mike looking to see if he hopefully notices puffs of smoke or not... Especially on pump gas, loves pump gas nonetheless...
@@Brother2Jis_27s4 Hi, Brother 2J, I'm "That dude". And you're absolutely right. Knock detection is the most important thing to monitor. I usually tune with a stand alone per cylinder knock detection system. However after years of use, it finally died. I informed Adam about it, but he wished to continue with the tune. Here is a link of how I use that system when I tuned Tavarish's twin turbo Lambo. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6enoipq1U6E.html Since I didn't have it in this case, I asked Mike visually check the back of the car. Now you may be wondering why I didn't monitor knock through the ECU. Thats a good question. The Link, just like any other stand alone is a universal ECU, does not have knock control is not active or calibrated right out the box. Nothing is set. No center frequency, no activation thresholds, no gains are set, nothing. Now I know the center knock frequency for an 86mm bore is 6.7 KHz and the second harmonic is 13.4 KHz. But I don't know what harmonic to use without using my stand alone knock detection equipment. I would have to intentionally knock the engine. And for obvious reasons I didn't want to do that. Furthermore, the original knock sensors on Nissans from that era were ignored by the OEM ECUs past 4k rpm because the signal to noise ratio of those old style sensors were that bad. So because the OEM sensor is so bad at it's job and given what I had to work with, I would trust Mike's visual observation over the knock sensors that Nissan them selves ignore past 4k rpm any day. Again, you are right. Knock is the most important thing to monitor when tuning an engine. I was just working with what I had. Thank you for the opportunity to explain in more detail :)
@@erik_cruz I think like most things on RU-vid and other social media thevideo didn't give the best context. Realistically the timing numbers weren't shared so I don't know how conservative it was or safe it may have been. I believe, also not knowing the context of what conversation that took place, that I would have postponed the dyno session or any real tuning until a better detection system was in place. But that is also not knowing if you had 32 degrees in it or 3 degrees... I think if you get the opportunity in the future you should get a chance to explain the context of what happened. I do apologize for being harsh, I'm not sure if anyone else realized that what was going on could have been seen as reckless given the context of what was portrayed on video...
PRO TIP for Adam LZ home improvements. Put your bit through the center of a paper plate and then drill your hole in the roof. Saves the trouble of holding the box and catches the dust waayyyyy better.
If you want good drywall plugs you should get the steel anker ones the have a umbrella that gets opend up when you screw the bolts in to it. They are way more reliable than the normal plugs you used
Kinda of an unseen and semi unspoken thing about weight reduction, wires are heavy AF. Taking out systems like ABS, cruise control, etc. you can lighten a car by a pound or two up to 10+. Doing a vq swap on my s30, my dad and I took out airbag wiring, cruise control, automatic transmission, and stock speaker wiring. Estimated weight saved is around 11.5lbs
You drilled the holes too big for the dotty plugs you should use some butterfly anchors to mount that into the ceiling it should hold a lot better and they should slip right into the holes you already got there
It's an ignorant way to detect knock. Why wouldn't they have an ecu with knock detection. I have a feeling that "tuner" dude won't be seen to much. That's an extremely poor way to risk detonating an engine on pump gas💥He's going to cost adam some money on grenading his engines
It's not OK, does he look like someone who needs slower reaction times?? Plus I don't think the sponsors would be happy with promoting such things. Otherwise he would have sponsors already on board.
@@JohnDoeC78 lmao cause promoting drinking in his videos isn’t as bad? Drinking poison lmao. MedCBD didn’t have a problem sponsoring Ken Block :) and Ford didn’t mind either.
