If anyone's interested, the thermometer is a kestrel drop. When you asked me if I'd checked it, if I remember right, I think the first words out of my mouth were definitely best cut out of the video 😂 How people do backpacking on the continent in that heat & sun my pasty Yorkshire bod cannot contemplate. Locally, the little field-corner barns are called a cow house or "coohoos".

Oh my, I can't even explain how buzzing I was to bump in to you at Kettlewell! (Yumove lady!) Also absolutely livid with ourselves for not asking for a pic!! We talked about you all the way Home! You made my holiday, you really did! It was my first solo holiday to force me out of my comfort zone. I hiked solo every day & even went out for an evening meal. My ex hubby who was with me is my biggest supporter & best friend, he pushes me to go out & live! I've followed you for so long & it's one of my fave channels to watch....you most certainly inspire me to do so much more! Thank you for putting up such great content & keep putting the gate shots & hey Herdy's in there....we LOVE them! Debbie & James 😊

Hello, as a very latecomer to the party please can I congratulate you on the quality of your videos. My wife and I both watch your channel and dream of the possibilities for walks once our 2 children have flown the nest. In all reality, we may never get to achieve these hikes but they are a really useful distraction, especially as we both have elderly parents in varying degrees of health. We have found both your hikes and town explorations to be extremely entertaining and informative. Please keep up the hard work and "Hi Herdies". Best wishes

I spent every summer of my childhood in this area and took my children to visit their grandmother here too in their turn. The lakes are the most beautiful part of England, but the dales are the prettiest. Trees on the limestone plateaus are rare, it's too dry, if you do see an isolated one it often indicates a sink hole, the entrance to a cave. I mentioned the dales barn in your last video; how hay from the field was put in the loft and cows overwintered below

Just watched this, and it's so inspiring to watch. Please don't think it's just a route that goes on and on and on. It's certainly not to me. As years ago ( lots ) my late grandad did the dales way, and it shows me what he did and had to do, watch, look at, etc. I'm a big fat fella that would love to do what you and my late grandad did, but I wouldn't last the first 10 miles lol 🤣. But your a legend to to watch. Thanks and keep it up.

Wow! You’re getting the summer hiking weather we have in the States. On longer trips there are many days where we (long distance backpackers) are up just as it starts to get light, hike 12 miles, stop and nap/rest/eat/sit in a creek, whatever, for several hours and then hike the last 6 or 8 miles in late aft to dusk. You have to make adjustments here where we get heat like that for weeks at a time, all summer long.
