I hadn’t heard of Christopherus. I like to do hands on and teacherish led (as I’m a former full time teacher). I’ll have to check them out ❤

It’s very teacher intensive, which is why I’m bad at it- I just have too many eclectic things going on to commit to only one thing. Donna used to have lots of developmental talks and things which I loved! She still has some on her website.

Thanks for these videos! We have a similar flavor to our homeschool, except we mainly use MP and Ambleside.

I’m semi new to homeschooling and entirely new to MP. Is there a way to save when purchasing their curriculum? Also, what are you using as reference for “standards”
@ddchomeschool

The charter we were with follows the California state standards, which are basically only US history until 6th grade, and the science standards are very specific as well. I don’t follow standards per se because I feel qualified to evaluate developmental appropriateness, level of engagement, and intellectual development- these things are going to vary by student. I think of standards as helpful if you’re not sure where to start, but they’re just a random set of topics that bureaucrats have deemed most important, they’re not necessarily inherently to be preferred. If that makes sense?

@@ddchomeschoolit does and that’s the ideology I have followed, but you mentioned it in your post and it piqued my interest!

We’ve been in a charter several times over the years and they require work samples that follow these standards- so my 4th grader had to do studies weeklies for fourth grade history for them even though I would’ve preferred to not do those. 😂 I guess the silver lining is that it’s not necessarily a bad thing to learn those things in addition!

Do you have a video covering how you plan to schedule these into your week?
@ddchomeschool
@ddchomeschool 3 месяца назад
I do not. However, the Memoria press materials are all scheduled in their second grade lesson plans- I bought the charter version. We started this week and I am trying to figure out how I want to incorporate the Waldorf materials based on how those are scheduled in the Christopherus curriculum. It’s a bit challenging when most curriculums don’t assume people will be working during the summer! 🙃 I will definitely share more once I get into a good routine!

@@ddchomeschool it can be tricky for sure! I started Christopherus late this year but I love what is has to offer, I’ve tried many but this we are looking to be more eclectic and have an array of things just as you set here. I’m thinking Waldorf in a block schedule and all the rest done everyday in the later afternoon after lunch possibly
