Same here, Kirk. No side effects at all, just the soreness where they did it, and even that isn't anything bad, it just sort of feels like you hit your shoulder and got a bruise and it only lasted for half a day or so. :) The same is the case for everyone in my family except for one brother, he also felt like crap for a day or so after one of them.
Most states just require that you make enough money to be self-sufficient. They will look to see if you pay bills on time and can meet all of your own needs without outside assistance. That said, the requirements may be slightly different in every state so I encourage you to check out your state's website on foster care.
