Everyone in the comments says "how r they ugly" " i wanna be ugly like them 2" etc which is good but you guys need to understand sincerity behind this song ever since their debut koreans (majority) considered them a ugly group (except dara) none of the members fit into their ridiculous beauty standards.They called bom a plastic monster and ugly 2 cl and minzy these girls had to put up with shit like this everyday yet they still looked up and smiled...like they always do

honestly this song made me cry because i could relate in so many ways. it took me years to finally love myself. i had bangs to cover half of my face, i would always wear loose fittings clothes to feel skinny, every single day i would always look in the mirror with nothing but sadness. i hated myself more than anyone else. but i slowly learned that is it so important to be beautiful? is it so important to be pretty? to be skinny? the media and society created these standards, we were all ment to look different so why cant we embrace that? we are all beautiful and perfect in our own way so lets embrace and love it 💜

listened to this yesterday and just kept thinking "wow, they're so talented! i really love 2ne1!" and then they announced their disbandment that same night.. it feels so unreal..

I came here for the song and I almost want to cry because of the comments. All of the girls talking about how they can relate and how they don't feel beautiful just breaks my heart. Please remember, beauty is a state of mind, not a model who is photoshopped onto a magazine, or what any one says. I actually think that this song is really powerful coming from a group as beautiful as 2NE1. The message that I get is that no matter how conventionally beautiful you are, there are times when you are lonely and lose confidence and see yourself as "ugly," whether it's your face or your heart (as they mentioned in the lyrics). I also think that their point of how if you're alone, you feel like it's your own fault and that there must be something wrong with you. I think that a lot of people can relate to that.

이 당시 나오는 곡마다 사랑 노래, 이별 노래였는데 오히려 이런 노래가 더 공감 됨. 2NE1 색깔이랑 너무 잘 맞는 노래같음. 지금 들어도 너무 좋음.

i remember when i was younger i was considered ugly by the common standard, even my family thought i was ugly, my mom said she was embarrassed of me. i didn't have many friends growing up, i thought everyone only wanted to be friends with those who were at least decent looking. the line where minzy sang, "i might resent you with my ugly and crooked heart," resonated with me. i know that thinking i was ugly and making it my whole "identity" brought me nothing but crooked heart, i avoided everyone and resented my family so much. i'm 23 now and life is better, i can show up to the world without sabotaging myself, telling me i'm not pretty enough to be a part of society. i still struggle every now and then, i'm not completely healed yet, but i've been making so much progress compared to years ago. i can't really tell you how i've been healing tho it's a long, long story... i just wanna say to my fellow "ugly" people who are still struggling right now, you're more than just a face, you are enough no matter what, be kind to yourself. ;)

I love how all YG songs don't exactly sound "sad", but the meanings are really sad and express such painful emotions that we can all relate to in some way. BIGBANG's Haru Haru doesn't sound like a typical sad song, but still one of the most emotional songs in K-pop history. Along with this song. They talk about how they feel "I'm ugly and no one loves me" but with a slightly upbeat pop rythm. I'm not exactly fond of ballads and stuff like that, so that's why I've always admired this part of this song.

this song is so.. ugh, I love it. positive songs about loving yourself are great, but there's something so special and real about these lyrics. sometimes, you just feel ugly and unlovable. and those feelings are okay to have, sometimes you just need a song like this to cry to, or sing along to, and express those not-so-confident emotions. thank you 2NE1, this song did more for me than I could ever say. 💕

Anyone ever been told by a really gorgeous girl that they are pretty when they know they are not and feel like punching that girl and then feel bad instantly because she is such a genuinely nice person who doesnt deserve anything remotely harsh done to her and so you can only just go home and stare in the mirror and hate yourself even more for being ugly inside AND out. This song honestly resonates with me so much. I’ve been called ugly almost all my life, and I always feel like something’s wrong with me. It’s gotten to the point of my life where I can’t see myself in a positive way, but its songs like these that help me feel better. I’ve gotten used to basically hiding my face from people, and sometimes refusing to look at others when I talk. But 2ne1 makes me feel like on the inside I’m beautiful, and maybe someday there will be someone who likes me for me, and not what I look like. It’s been happening since I was 4 and now I’m 13, almost 14. It’s almost been an entire decade of just bullying and being put down for the way I look, but I want to thank 2ne1 and their music for getting me through hard times like this part of my life.

i love how this song is more about self image and how we see ourselves, and how we compare ourselves to others, rather than other people calling you ugly. even if someone tells you you're beautiful, those words are meaningless unless you feel it about yourself, that's why this song is for everyone.

I am Korean, but I will write this comment in English. Like other comments, I felt like I was really related to this song's lyrics. After Covid mask off, Everyone was taking off their mask but I did not because I was so scared to face others and them to disappoint about me. I am not even pretty when masked on, but when mask off, my dirty face with face troubles and pimples is exposed.. but actually this is not a real problem. I think my friends' nose and eyes are so pretty and their skin too( even my sister and my brother) and I always compare to myself and think as I am a just valueless. I wanna love myself but I dont know when I will start to believe myself as a valuable person. I just wanna be pretty and have a nice personality. I am not good at anything. I love this song so much❤Because, I am half Korean and my korean side of the family would try to get me to weigh the perfect weight, have flawless skin, wear really girly clothes. I was in depression about it because I wasn't happy at all with what they were doing. I mean, it was generous and all but, I didn't feel like me. They made me think that I was ugly and fat and I would stop eating for a couple of days. I would look in the mirror and cry for hours thinking to myself "I'm so ugly, I wish I was like other girls" Until I came across 2NE1. I didn't know what Kpop was until I heard one of there songs on a commercial. Then I came across this song, and I cried. I then started to take a stand to my Korean side of the family saying that I am beautiful just the way I am. I then didn't understand why they were calling themselves ugly because I thought they were flawless. But, it turns out that they've been called the ugly group, except for Dara. The basically said that Bom was like a plastic doll and also said CL and Minzy were too ugly. That's not true, they're beautiful and wonderful and amazingly talented. I'm really sad they had to disband, I'm gonna miss them so much😢😢😢

This song pretty much sums up how I and a lot of others feel everyday. Ironic that I used a word 'pretty' in that sentence, huh? '^.^

This song truly belongs to 2ne1 and only them can sing this song with so much sincerity. Now I'm not saying it's because they're ugly or that they're ugly, but it's because they debuted and were marketed with the title of "The ugly group of KPOP". They are all beautiful, but most of the members have been attacked for their appearance, Bom and Minzy, especially went to get plastic surgery because of all the critics about their face. I'm glad that groups like 2ne1 exists and have such a genuine song because this song wouldn't come across even half as genuine if groups like Blackpink or Twice was the one singing it.

this song is literally my whole life. During my high school days. I was once a leader for an event where teachers usually choose those who r pretty.i was chosen but my teacher told me that you were chose not because u r pretty bit because u r good at studying. I used to upload my cover songs on Facebook , I tried so hard, and I know im not bad at singing but no one shares my videos. One of my friends ( not so close) started uploading songs ,me and her is quite the same level at singing but people started to share her covers because she is pretty. Im SO SAD Because we have mutual friends and they share and compliment her songand how pretty she is. So much pain in this song. One of the reasons I like 2ne1 is many of their songs are in behalf of average people offering understanding and encouragement. As a teen I had self hatred, but what is beauty anyway? Not just one’s appearance but what’s going on in their mind and heart.

When all these boys in high school used to say "hey my friend likes u/my friend thinks ur cute" and then they'd laugh and whisper and walk away, and now u struggle with thinking ur pretty or someone actually thinking ur cute even as an adult
