As someone born with a birthmark on the face and being bullied for how I look throughout my whole life, I instantly fall in love with 2NE1 and their music since debut for their unconventional styles and even more so when they released “Ugly”. I love how this song celebrates the beauty in vulnerability, it’s beautiful, and empowering. Self love and acceptance is what matter the most. Eagerly waiting to witness all 4 of my queens together like we did with Coachella. 2NE1 4 Ever, and Blackjack forever.
2ne1 was really that girlgroup. Perfect image, great songs, always giving us their 101% in every performance. They really embodied the best KPOP girlgroup. I was so proud of them, always will.
The lyrics speak itself what Korea is. I'm so glad 2NE1 is trying to break those stereotypes like breaking the entrance the says "no ugly allowed" or "pretty girls only" by entering those and breaking 'em, also trying to empower people who had plastic surgeries
Actually there's "in front of the mirror" by GLAM (a girl group that disbanded) and I would say it kind of talks about the same topic but in a more comedic way xD
2NE1 came from almost nothing, they didn’t have the things BLACKPINK’s been given by YG when they were younger. Even when they were called ugly, they had much more talent and personality than most k-pop artists. 2NE1’s songs not only had great rhythm, they also had a message, a real meaning. 2NE1: The best female group in the world.
Of course BLACKPINK’s still working hard and doing great so hopefully they find their own style soon, so they can became great too. Both groups are talented!
2NE1 is the only girl group that thinks of themselves as ugly when they are honestly the legendary 2NE1. I mean even up to these days no one can top Dara's visual.

I always think that Dara is the most superior female visual in Kpop. Tagged as the vampire goddess, her visual can still compete to this younger generations of idol. And the fact that till up to this date, she’s the only one who dared to shaved her hair into half. Yes this generation of visuals are beautiful. But no one can comes close to Dara, no one dared to go beyond of trying styles. Period

Female k-pop followed the steps of queen concept whereas this song and these girls are million times more relatable than anything I’ve heard from modern scene. Let’s be honest: most of us are just girls with real life problems where are looked down on, because we are not good/ skinny/ pretty/ talented/ smart enough to be treated right. How many of modern songs do cover this issue? None, but 2ne1 did, that’s why they are number 1 forever

This song isn't "telling" you that "oh, you should love yourself, you're not ugly!". It's evident many people don't get it because of all the negativity against the song. EX: " They're saying _______ yet the got plastic surgery and wear pounds of make up" Are you serious? This song is expressing the desire, the battle, the pain to want to be up to the standard of not only "beautiful" but "perfect" in all aspects. Singing "I want to be pretty" directly means that, "I want to be pretty". Simple as that, it reflects the minds of the young and old generation. This song does not give you a real message, you have to figure it out yourself by looking at the reflection they make of all the girls out there. This is a reflection, not a message.
It's a music industry that manufactures people. The companies produce faces that can follow a choreographer's steps and sing decently. Most get plastic surgery and lose weight before debuting. So what do you expect?

Me pesonaly, I think this sing doesn't send that message, mybe All about that bass tells you to love urself, but this song as I listened it for the first time I think just says ''I'm ugly, kill me'' but yes it's wron of them to say that if they really did make surgery (sorry not a fun didn't know that) BUT maybe they are singing about what and how they felt before surgery, or how they feel without makeup, to me they semm pretty prtty girls but all in all it's music industry more than half of it doesn't mean something and half of the part that does is jst for money and fame so don't expect no one to sing about something deep and for them to actually feel it

I like how Minzy looked before surgery better than how she looks now... and I kinda liked how 2ne1's message was like, be confident the way you are. But so long as she's happy with the results I guess that's all that matters.
It's still not a good reason to make meaningless songs. How can people relate to it if its meaningless. Its just like singing without any reason, and like a singer who doesn't put a any feeling and soul to a song. True artist performs whole heartedly. Unlike fake once sing, dance and perform like a dummy.
New kpop group nowadays is hard to understand. I mean their songs. But But I guess there are still other companies who make very meaningful songs. We might just not even know cause there's so a lot of companies out there.

This great masterpiece songs depicts human characters weakness, that we all have in some other ways but this great musicians somehow, make this lowly feelings sound like being a loser and being ugly is ok, it's natural to feel this emotions, and yet conquer this feelings in such a cool way. When I first listened to this song, I was so confused ... why were these beautiful talented girls singing about how they were ugly? But after getting to know 2ne1 and living in Korea I totally can understand them... actually according to American standards I think 2ne1 is so beautiful because each member expresses so much individuality and confidence. These two things are the most important factors in American beauty standards. But Korean beauty standards are all about fitting into a typical look. I really love Korea but I hate that they try to fit people into a specific mold... I now understand why they made this song and I can relate to it 100%. I don't want to change korea, but I hope their society can become more accepting and loving towards individuality rather than perfection.

When the management YG is not satisfied on their beauty and call them ugly (breaking their spirit) and suggest for surgery they did not see their inner beauty. Only a true fans of 2NE1 can see their deep beauty... the individuality of their voices... the aura... the clothes that they look great...the character on stage when they sing... but together they can pull out their emotions to their music that a fans can feel them ( even most of us cannot understand korean song including me😄). The 4 of them are so good together (don’t like them separate and make each one their own music). It’s a complete set of food that will satisfy me up to the end.
2NE1 and their music left a legacy to me. They embarked huge and many memories on my whole highschool life. I was a victim of bullying back then and their music best described how I went through of it and listening their songs now reminds me how badly I had went through all those years and how I endured and stood up from it. ♥️
Fun Fact: Park Bom once cried while recording her part for this song. She felt the lyrics and got emotional. 2ne1's music is not just a bop. But a bop WITH content. @@dianasmile2518 not all her plastic surgery were to fit the beauty standard tho, she suffer health issues (I think she suffered since she was young, sorry if I'm wrong) where her face kept bloated. She need to do some treatment (medicine, surgery, etc) as the solutions. I guess because of that, she get "addicted" to surgery (well there's once a rumour about that but idk if it true or not, but if it true I guess it's make sense)

She said something like "omg my plastic surgery" and she was laughing when she said that...as I said people think she did ps due her face "changed" but as far i remember Bom said on 2NE1tv that during her trainee days she developed a health problem that make her face swollen, also Bom medicine for her ADHD makes hard for her lose weight...i personally think that Bom so called "ps" is actually side effects of her medical treatment... anyways thanks for trying to defend Bommie😊

Dara mentioned once that at one point, we all feel ugly.. I can relate to you cos I was pressured when I was younger to look like how society wants me to be.. but then I grow up realising that I shd love myself and that those people who called others ugly are just putting others down cos of their insecurities.. Dreamcatcher also have tried all those generes, althought most of their title tracks are rock. But they already mix rock, ballad, reggae, reggaeton, pop, edm, jazz, trap, pop, hiphop. Anyways, 2ne1 can't have a comeback without YG's confirmation, which I'm pretty sure he hasn't given. Minzy has been showing signs of missing 2ne1 a lot on her Instagram. Dara has been doing a lot of acting in dramas. I'm most worried about Bom because she's my bias yet no one really knows how she feels or what she's doing since she's still on a social media hiatus. I mean, Dara said Bom's doing fine and all but she could've just said that so Blackjacks wouldn't worry. I found 2ne1 during a very dark time in my life. They practically saved me. And I owe them more than what I can give. I really hope they have a comeback soon. Even if they don't, I will forever support the members as individuals.
