I’m a 40 year old white dude from the south who grew up on Tupac. I love watching other people nerd out on his lyrics! Reminds me of myself 20 years ago. I still listen to Pac on a regular basis. I could probably even be classified as a Tupac historian at this point. There will never be another like him! His artistry will always be relevant to humanity. Going on 30 years later after he passed and people still talk about him like he’s been here all along. His impact is incalculable.
True , I always marveled at that feat......no other musician comes close...In this same album he pneed the song "The good die young". That song was probably in reference to the fact that God's good people do not have to live to over 70 years to make a contribution on this planet
Your frustration over people not respecting 2Pac or his position as the #1 rapper of all time is probably the most relatable thing. There was such a strength in his vulnerability. Complete honesty in his lyrics, and passion in his delivery. He made you FEEL everything he said. Whether he personally wants ent through it or not and that’s a hard skill to learn. Takes a lot of emotional intelligence.
That’s honestly foolish to be frustrated over someone else’s opinion. 2Pac is personally #1 for me, but you can’t expect everyone to have the same views. There’s a reason why everyone is different.

Pac was very agitated and was cursing out when Maya Angelous called him aside to talk to him: "During their conversation, Angelou says she reminded Tupac of the pain his ancestors experienced during slavery and segregation and that he was not honoring his history by misbehaving. Her words struck Shakur, so much so that he walked away in tears and promised to do better."
2Pac is the greatest rapper of all time. It's not even close. He's been gone for decades yet he's still the gold standard others are compared to. For you to compare anyone to him it should be limited to whatever they did up to age 25. That's age-adjusted comparison just like what you'd do in statistics.
You connect with Pac because he's real. He's the realest rapper to ever hold a mic. He lived what he raps about and real people will relate to him because we ain't fake and you ain't fake so keep listening to this man and keep elevating your knowlegde and wisdom. Omg I just saw that you'll be reacting to Pac's Indiana speech this weekend and I cannot wait. I’m not sure if anyone has told you this yet but 2Pac’s Thug Life was an actual movement and not just an identity. As he put it in his own words it was _“half Panther teachings from my folks and half street elements to comply with today's world”._ The acronym stood for *The Hate U Give Little Infants Fucks Everybody.* He along with Mutulu Shakur (former Panther and political prisoner at the time) united all the OG criminals in the west and east coast jails to come up and implement a code of ethics. They were against things like drivebys, harm of anyone who wasn’t directly involved in the “game” (so no harming family members of anyone you personally have beef with), etc. Those who break the code have to face the consequences when they end up in the penitentiary. The most impressive part is that it actually worked. Even if it isn’t referred to as the Thug Life Code anymore, all the principles have sort of become unwritten rules for those in the street life today. It also became the foundation for the famous Watts ‘Truce Barbecue’ treaty between Bloods and Crips nearly 20 years later. _“I cannot change the dirt that is out here, but I can put it all in one corner.”_

Another great reaction as always! And the true mark of an artist is to make someone who hasn't gone through the same struggles be able to empathize with their struggle. Like I said before Tupac is by far my favorite rapper. To me the greatest of all time because he wasn't just an artist he was an activist and wanted to educate not only his people but the world.

@@brainsqueezereactions It might be too late to tell you the story of this song. There's a poet named Maya Angelou whose poems were the centre of the Poetic Justice movie. On the movie set Tupac was acting out and ready to fight the same people who asked him to take an AIDS test before doing a love scene with Janet Jackson. Maya Angelou being an elderly woman pulled Tupac to the side, talked some sense into him and calmed him down. After what she told him, Tupac went and explored her writings including poem titled : Still I Arise. Tupac went on a mind journey through that poem and reinvented his own Thug version written down within 5 minutes.
I've heard this song100+ times, and I always love it. That first verse, for me personally, is the greatest verse ever. Absolutely an amazing work of art. It's almost as personal as DEAR MAMA. Love it. Love it. LOVE it. I just wish this was a Tupac solo track.

Hey Hector, I know you got tons of Tupac songs on your list but if you ever get a chance listen to “Smile” It’s a song with Tupac and Scarface. Awesome lyrics, great beat and the singing just puts it over the top. I guarantee you will definitely feel the vibe in this track. If anyone was curious, there is quite an interesting story behind this song and album title as they were taken from Maya Angelou’s poem of the same name and content. 2Pac met Maya Angelou while filming the movie Poetic Justice (she wrote the featured poems and had a small role as one of the three old ladies towards the end). At this time Pac was at the height of his wildin’ days. Sleeping with extras, showing up late, constantly getting into fights etc. One day Angelou came on set and saw him about to get into it with one of the staff there and no one was able to deescalate the situation. She pulled Pac to the side, calmed him down, and asked him when was the last time someone told him how important and loved he was? That his ancestors didn’t fight for their freedom to have him stand here and dishonour their legacy like this. That last part really got him because he started crying. They talked for a little while longer and he promised her that he’d do better. From that day on he was on his best behaviour every day on set. Later on while serving time in Clinton, Pac would go on to read all of Maya Angelou’s poetry books and even reach out to her to ask if one day she’d help him write his autobiography. As a child service worker, this entire situation really showcased the importance of positive reinforcement. Pac wasn’t a child but he was still very young and in his own words; immature at the time. He was 20-21 years old and was not on speaking terms with the only person who was a positive figure in his life (his mom). You can only imagine how his reaction would’ve been very different if Angelou came off as condescending or aggressive in her approach.
That's such a beautiful story. I looked it up and sure enough it was corroborated by both Maya and Janet Jackson on two separate occasions. Makes you wonder where 2Pac could have been today if he had that type of unconditional positively around him. If there is anything I have learnt from being a mum it’s that no child ever acts up without a reason.

@@brainsqueezereactions Don't feel stupid. Ill get crucified for saying this by some of the fans, but some of the re released tracks are better than their original versions. This album is one of the best examples of how to update old tracks without losing the essence of what they were trying to express while recording them. For many of the tracks on this album, the beats are pretty close to the originals, and that ones that are radically changed, they did a good job on them. The thing about many of the unreleased tracks is that they were not finished, and were basically rough drafts or demo versions that had not been polished yet. It's very possible that a lot of the originals would have went through alterations anyhow had 2pac not died. That being said, some original tracks should have been released as is, and were absolutely destroyed by tying to make them sound modern, but it comes down to personal taste. Those who heard the songs before they were released officially are going to always prefer the originals since that is what they know and how they first heard them, and likewise, those who heard the altered versions first are probably going to prefer those.

@@brainsqueezereactions For future reference, Teardrops and closed caskets was completed in a single take with the outlawz and 2pac standing around a mic together. Knowing that before hearing it will make it that much more impressive. As another note, I recommend the OG version over the Still I Rise version. Both are incredibly well done and very very similar, but Nate Dog's chorus is cut short on the retail album version. On the other hand, the retail album version on Still I Rise has some beautiful background singing by a woman who's name i do not recall that really adds an amazing layer to an already amazing track.
Pac, Nas and Em are my 3 favorite rappers of all-time. Kendrick, Cole and Joey Bad Ass of the past 10-12 years. Biggie, Jay, Rakim, KRS-ONE, DMX, Ice Cube, 50 and Snoop are also in my list of favorites!

He recited his complete life cycle in one verse effortlessly. One of his greatest gifts was the ability to tie in storylines fluidly while connecting with the listener. Social commentary without the minutiae. Spoke plainly, no Dr. Seuss-ery or constant metaphor needed. People saying that he wasn't lyrical or lacked flow is laughable. The signs of simple minds with no understanding get left behind. They completely missed the point. Carry on young Hector...I'll be watching
