one of my first hot rods was a 2004 tacoma with a turbo 2rz that I built. I loved that truck. Total sleeper...those engines are awesome...put some supra injectors in it. walbro 255...turbonetics t3/t4. piggy back ecu. Manual trans. dropped it... ripped it lol
that would have been the 8 port head correct? i have an 02 and kinda want to turbo, people say the older 4 port is better but I'm sure its almost all the same.
@@OPBagels never did get it on th4 dyno back then. Raced it at thr local 1/8 miles track. And whooped on mustangs and camaros. That's all I remember lol.
I think the stock ecu will work with really low boost. You could put the stock ecu in it and turn the boost down when it’s time for inspection. The haltech ecu is plug and play so it would be easy to unplug and plug the stock one back in
That is an amazing looking truck my man, nervous about throwing a turbo in mine with all the driving I do. My brother in law has been trying to convince me to ls swap it instead
@@JIMMYLUNCHMEAT Its actually a TRD LSD (clutched type limited slip) and I believe Eaton was contracted to build those units so parts are still available, I run one as well in my 98 Tacoma with an LS swap I've been running for almost a decade, now adding 7875 turbo to make it more "spicy", 366WHP is not enough out of my LS swap, especially coming from my built 2RZ making over 500WHP, but it had a short 2 stroke type power curve, haha.
Oh ok besides the turbo kit what other components did you need for everything to run smoothly? Also what safe boost recommendation if you don’t want to touch the motor and still want to daily it? Sick truck by the way!!
@@greyalien6619 this truck has a haltech 750 ecu which is plug’n play. 7-8psi is pretty safe. This truck has like 180k miles and the head gasket blew on 10psi
