Plus you can play so many things on a tele shape without it looking weird, you can play everything from death metal to jazz to country to math rock, you can’t really play jazz or country on a Flying V without it looking like satire
It's the best amp in the world imo. There are other great ones (I personally dig the JVM and the MESA Mark IV), but nothing compares to how ferocious that EVH sounds.
i think we have to take in account that this guitars are designed to play together and complement each other, Christian is the lead tone in Gojira, and Joe has more of a rythm tone, but at the same time, Joe is the one that does the "solo" sections in some of their songs, you can appreciate that in backbone, THMOTU, l'enfant savage etc etc. IF this guitars where equally beefier, then the sound of Gojira wouln't be so unique. They also love to play the same riffs but with differents shapes on the power chords and thing like that so they give a lot of variation to their songs
@@crestfallen821 not directly, but Joe and Christian are long teammates and they build their sound together, when they desing his guitars, they do with the idea in the mind of complement and achieve the sound that they want. Sure maybe Christian would like a ghuitar with 2 pick-ups, but he knows that in Gojira he is not going to use it for example
@@helloyu6270 im not a musician and explaining this in English is difficult for me, but for example, in the heaviest matter of the universe, in the riff that starts around 1:51, one of the guitars play 2(6 string) X (5 string) and 4 (4 string), slide to 3X5 and the other guitar plays 2,4,4 slide to 3,5,5. but there are times when one guitar plays something and the other does so in a octave higher, things like that. you can clearly see this if you try to play some Gojira in guitar and see some online tabs
@Abs quatulate i actually mainly hook up to my computer and use amp sims. I can dial up some great tones, but amp sims just don’t sound quite as round and whole as the real thing.
The jackson for me all day. I love the charvel too but admittedly I'm a jackson fan boy through and through, just love the RR body and the simplicity of having one pickup
There’s something to be said about the clarity and articulation of a single bridge pickup. I think overall, the Jackson has a much better rhythm tone and the Charvel is more versatile for leads.
I had the Joe Duplantier model for about year but had to sell it recently. I really miss it. The pickups on that guitar really give it a lot of versatility. From Jazz to Metal it has you covered.
Both are great! In the last few years i have started to appreciate guitars more and more that are more "simpler", like the Alexi Laiho guitars. I mean i never use the neck pickup anyway and i like the idea of a guitar that is just ready to shred. No useless knobs
I just bought the Christian signature Jackson over this last weekend. Saw it and knew I had to have it. I’m really liking it so far. I’m hoping to get the Joe Charvel soon to complete the duo
I just bought an LTD EC-256 that will get fitted with the same pickups that are in Joe's Charvel. I think it's going to sound the same. I played the Charvel but felt more comfortable on the LTD so I am making an "Joe Duplantier' version of the EC-256. Ola, love your channel and amazing skills!
Everytime you say “yumbo” it reminds me of the adverts from years ago when the cleaning product changed from “Jif” to “Cif” to help our Northern European cousins pronounce it correctly. This comment is not relevant to the video, but relevant to the amount of caffeine I’ve had. Great video, love the chugging Ola. Tack kompis!
I have one of his white Charvels and I love it so much (swapped the pups for Dinarzios, PAF 36th anniversary bridge & Evolution neck) I'm probably going to get the one in this video too.... I'm so in love with it!!
Coming from someone who's been playing modern metal on Jacksons for most of his career, i have to go with the Jackson. I can practically FEEL how buttery smooth the neck is on the Jackson. I can legitimately play back to back shows on a Jackson and never get fatigued. Jackson for life.
I actually did a pretty similar test at the music store I work at. Thankfully we had both in stock and I was able to AB them, I ended up going with the Joe Duplantier signature, mostly due to it just being more versatile. The only thing I’ve done to the guitar in the 7 months since owning it was add a treble bleed, which I do for all my guitars. Part of my decision was also my fondness for telecasters, and his guitar, despite being geared for metal, also has a look that could let you blend in with the classic rock crowd.
Can you tell me what a treble bleed is? Sounds like something I need. (I'm never satisfied with the treble control on guitars and amps...) Thanks! Oh and congrats, that "Tele" looks wonderful!
@@asharpbflat7179 it’s just a capacitor that gets attached to your volume pot. So when you roll down your volume, it doesn’t get muddy and lose all the high end. I put one in most of my guitars with humbuckers. It also generally brightens most of them too
The specs on the Andreu sig seem a little disappointing considering it retails for over $1000. That "high output humbucker" is the same pickup Jackson puts in their $300 JS series guitars.
Almost all guitars are over priced. It’s sucks we’ve reached a point where you need drop thousands of dollars to get anything made in this country. Much cheaper to have them made in an Indonesian factory and charge the customer way more than it’s worth. Solar included
@@user-vy8jn9mc6g I have an Indonesian made guitar also and it’s nice. I know they need to make money too, but outsourcing in the US is a problem. Not to get political
Maybe Solar could do some 7 string with TOM bridge and stop bar. It’s fairly uncommon design but I feel like the added string height helps me dig and there is something about the whole string being exposed and free to vibe that I like.
REALLY wish Solar would build more single pick up metal guitars. Like V’s and stuff. I don’t think I’ve used a neck pick up in my entire 25 years of playing. Not once
I have Joe’s first signature Charvel. I swapped out the Ducan bridge pickup for his signature fortitude pickup. By far my favorite guitar out of all the guitars I own. It plays its self and has so much to it for the price. It also helps that I play it through a EVH 5150 stealth 100 watt. Love the Videos Ola!! You are an inspiration for me and I love to hear and see your opinions. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Yeah I swapped out the pickups for a DiMarzio PAF 36th anniversary bridge & a DiMarzio Evolution neck pickup... I'm so in love with it too I got the white model and am probably going to also get the Charvel in this video.
So, contrary to what most people would agree - I have found having only 1 pickup and volume knob allows for a lot more creativity. Your limited to work within the boundaries of the instrument and therefore mentally are forced to focus on phrasing and chordal dynamics. You would be amazed just how versatile a stripped down guitar can be. Perfect example would be Ace Frehley. Enjoyed the video Ola. My vote is the Jackson. Most comfortable neck profiles for heavy music IMO. Cheers. 🍻💯
The Charvel has more body to the tone but the Jackson slight more glass in the tone I would go with just the looks and feel because the tone isn't much of an issue with either of them 🤘
Love the simplicity of the rr. Tom bridge, single bucker AND reverse headstock. If anything i'd love to see the bucker having coilsplit. I've never used neck pups and probably never will.
Hey Ola ,I just watched your video on the ibanez Universe and was wondering if you have seen the Ibanez RGix7DLB . Ive just bought the six string RGix6DLB and are totally blown way everytime. Love your vids.
