Greetings Mr Alan I would be grateful if you could review the soundcore icon plus and compare it to the sound core boost And if possible a comparison between soundcore boost v1 VS upgraded v2 Great job
I really appreciate all your reviews. I've pretty much decided that, for my use case, the Motion+ is the best fit. (I want the guitars to pop to the front of the mix.) Thanks for your help.
Yeah, no doubt stereo mode in any speakers makes you feel like being hugged with the music. For the motion boost the stereo mode is a big improvement if compared to just one motion boost, but feels better till 75%, above that it lacks the bass. Motion + to me is still the best sounding speaker, with very clear mids, highs and the bass, even if it's not so deep as motion boom. For it's size is perfect. For me the motion boom could have that hi-fi spec, so maybe it would sound little bit more defined, not sure if it's just me but doesn't sound with the same quality if compared to motion +. If price is the most important aspect, motion boost is the best option for now. If it's the sound quality, for me is the motion +. But if just want to go louder, play music outside with a group of people (after the pandemic) then the motion boom is the one. Thanks again for the great video and comparison, Alan! Big fan of your channel!
Think you summed it up well. One thing to remember is a lot of guys listen to modern electronic music which digs down to 20hz so a speaker with deep bass is a must. If you listen to older tracks like from the 60s or just music with real instruments you do not need to dig that low. Consider a bass drum bearly touches 40hz.
all 3 serve their purpose...playing 2 sc boost in stereo gives a wide sound stage at real world listening levels & decent bass...but hands down the boom takes it all for its overall sound at all listening levels
Just tried my new Boost (tried it because I liked it on your video) and I like it for the size and sound. Now I've ordered a second based on this video. Very pleased to have found your channel.
Awesome review, I have been catching up on some of your older stuff thats still relevent today. The one thing I would add is the Motion Boom floats. I learned the hard way when my Boost went overboard in 60 ft of water🤣 Sank like a rock! Keep up the awesome work, its greatly appreciated!
After my quarantine the bass (motion +) got soo loud that I had to decrease it from max to almost minimum and now it's incredible again. Soundcore motion + is amazing for indoor, mid-low volume.. (with Allan's eq settings) Soundcore Boom is amazing outdoors, mid- high volume. They're the best
I go back to some of your videos sometimes. Today, I needed this one because I have these three champions. Please, don't delete your reference videos of this company, your work is so necesary as honest references. Keep going but not forgetting you were the best then and you are the best and only today (and hoping in the future, too). As usual, best regards, my very appreciated friend.
im not going to delete anything, im here to inform, and so thats why i will inform on the worst of Soundcore not just the best. but yeah, i wont stop saying a Soundcore speaker is good if its indeed good, im just gonna say everything as it is, including the bullshit and shill sponsoring they are now doing to cover for the lower quality speakers they have been producing.
I have a Motion+ that I love. I also a pair of the Boost Upgraded. I only have a single Motion + and would like to hear a pair. I love the Boosts, they are shockingly good in the right room. That being said, I think the Motion is fantastic but there is a crossover and 4 active drivers and I bet the crossover uses electrolytic caps. I would like to dissect a motion and put superior capacitors in the circuit. To me the Boost sound more open and less fatiguing. Don't get me wrong, I love the Motion+ because it delivers more SPL, and some times that is paramount to any other consideration. Thank You for this incredible review!
I own 4 JBL speakers. Then I bought the Soundcore Motion +. Loved it since and bought a second Motion. They sound better paired than the Xtreme 2. For me, that says a lot positively.
Do you think 2 motion+ paired sound louder / better than 1 boom for a party? I already own a motion plus and I love it so I'm between buying another motion plus to sync or buying 1 boom instead.. what do you think it is better?
Wow the two of them playing in stereo is something else! How do you feel the bass compares between Motion plus and single Boost at lower levels, say around 40-50%? I so want to get the boost, the form factor is just amazing for me!
Wow what a difference 2 boost speakers make compared to a single one. Still Motion+ sounds better overall in my mind with better clarity. 2 boosts are somewhat coverad. The tweeters on Motion + are really great. But Motion Boom is THE champion. You can literally feel the bass. Boost has a very different sound picture, more muddy and covered compared to the other speakers. Boost is still a great portable stand alone speaker.
Why would I want the Motion Boom, that most describe it as muddy and lacking in mids and highs, when I am listening to music through Bluetooth which is acknowledged as inferior quality?
Hey Alan, I was wondering if sometime you could do a video with 2 booms in TWS vs the xtreme 3 vs the Neocore Wave A4 for best outdoor option. The 2 booms are about equal in price to 1 neocore, I think, and 4 for the price of the xtreme. Just wondering how loudness compared and also interested to see measurements of the boom in TWS.
Yes, for my ears too, the Soundcore Boost have a more enjoyable listen than motion+, I was a bit disappointed when I bought Motion+ :/ Not warm enough and mids are agressive for me, I couldn't calm them down, despite a lot of EQing. I'm searching a similar sound on a bigger speaker, do you know any for now ? thank's for your videos !
Would love to hear it in real life, it seems really good, but, I would like something not so big 😁, between boom and motion + would be perfect, but maybe not possible for now
So I did upgrade. Bass is deeper, music does sound cleaner. Good upgrade, however boost is still great, I use it at bathroom cos less bass + small size. Gonna keep both. 👍
Very good Alan! Give me two Motion Boom test in Stereo mode! It will be the most interesting surround sound! Better to use the tracks that were with Motion Boom in the first reviews for a better comparison! Hey neighbors, are you ready for a double boom? )))
Same, it loses many style points... They started simple & strong, which is very appealing. I wanted to start collecting them (soundcores/boost etc). That handled though looks like a 1990s generic boombox, my eyes are looking for a disk tray 👎 bad design. It could at least collapse. I'm happy with a couple upgraded boosts (sleek, and the size of a brick). I felt like that was their selling point, to be small, simple, and impress with power. The fancier it looks, the more they lose what made the product what it is. Thats my opinion at least.
I've got Boom. The bass is unbelievable. But... At home I still prefer my 2 motion plus in stereo. More definition to the sound. Outdoor.... The Boom is mad!! How they did it?
which one can get louder.. 1 boom or 2 motion plus in stereo? I already own a motion+ and I'm willing to buy another one to do a party, but I don't which setup is better
@@snowfood One Boom have way more and deeper bass than 2 Motion plus so for a party definitely boom. Motion plus have more refined and natural balanced sound. Boom it's all about the boost highs and bass but it's very pleasant especially very low deep bass, really surprising what it can do...
@@gtb100dzikus thanks 🙏 I was thinking to buy a new motion+, but will check the boom now!! I was thinking motion+ has 30W power and boom also.. so with 2 motion+ synced they would mean 60W, somehow better / louder for a party than 30W boom.. but will check the boom now 😁👍
Great content!!!! As always!!!! That's why I always tune in. Got me on the boom!! Was really hoping for the other two in stereo mode too. Hope soon!! Have you heard anything about the select pro? Looks just like the boom, but drivers are purple. Drooling while waiting for more on that. Hanx!!!!
Could you pair across the range - Motion + with the Boom or the Boost with the Boom or Pair all 3? Would be interested in seeing a video evaluating the options and figuring out the Pound for Pound winner in combination - similar to your minirig marathon
Bummer about only pairing the same model. Seems like Anker/Soundcore is missing out on a cross-selling opportunity. I wonder if that is a market decision or technology limitation? I would love to find a combo that has clarity, soundstage/separation, and bass that can be felt and isn't as much as minirigs - and more portable than powered monitors.
Late to the party but I had 2 flip 5s. Honestly not worth the hassle every time to put them in stereo - the app is shit, need to keep it open for them to stay in stereo mode. Found myself just not bothering because it was a pain in the ass. Mine dropped connection every time I start a new song, same with 2 flip 4s. 2 boosts look a lot easier to set up In stereo
I still prefer motion plus just a better overall speaker poison and the right settings make all the difference,as for the boom it's one ugly sob so maybe hide in a bag 😂love ya bids keep up the good work ,2plus,s please 👍
Thats what i have, and they're smashing with the right eq settings, you can listen to all kinds of music and its gonna be nice techno or rock everythings gonna sound great.
I had to choose between the motion plus and the boom. Motion Plus sounds better but the battery life was only a third of the boom. So I grabbed two of those. No analog port though :( and no aptx
@@alanrossreviews I've got the Motion Plus with a different custom setting that is giving me a really clear sound and beautiful bass. Just in case you want to try it, it's approximately like this: +6, -3, -1, -1, -1.25, -2.5, -3.25, -2, +2 (I wish the actual number appeared, so I'm just guessing the approximate number). It has an awesome sound, maybe a bit too boomy for some, but I really enjoy the deep bass (Bose style but without the weird sound "corrections/distortions" Bose introduces). Used it in a barbecue party the other day, it was an instant success!
@@alanrossreviews The only reason why Motion+ have an aux port is because of their hi res audio certification, aptX is limited to 16 bits 48khz. Which means, if they sell a Motion Boom+ with only aptX and if it's still Hi res audio compatible, they will be forced to include an aux. The other solution is to include aptX HD, then no need for an aux port I think
@@alanrossreviews I don't get the 40khz thing as well, but I don't think it's tied to Hi res audio certification at all, as Boost V.2 is also advertised as able to produce up to 40khz but is not Hi res audio certified at all. But on Motion+, which is hi res audio certified, if you want to play a 24 bits 96khz track, you will have to use a wire, as aptx is limited to 16 bits 48khz
I'm going to wait for the next Boom version. The current style is horrible - it looks too utilitarian. Hopefully, they'll change that handle and add twitters. The boom sounded better than the two boosts. The boosts lost their sound stage at full volume I think, and the motion + sounded better than the boosts at full volume almost on par with the Boom. My problem is I don't play my motion + at full volume where it is at its best because I have neighbours! I still think the Onyx 7 is the best of the bunch but the price is wrong.
Im not convinced tweeters are making that much difference because if cheaply implemented they are worse than no tweeter. There is the pro version coming, is it pro just cause it has lights 🚥?
Hello mate ..first ,nice job with all you reviews. You’ve managed to convince me to adopt the Anker motion+ yesterday. My question is ..can I link 3 Anker together (1 motion + connect to 2 Soundcore Boost ?
I never thought you will play with the boost because I thought there will be no updated boost... this little speaker has really good bass... I also listen to my old boost with an eq on... but I think this one also has some kind of soundcore flare type farting bass when pushed... Is it possible to have distortion in the music tracks that we listen...?
Do you mean can i record the distortion? Yes it can fart but nowhere near as often as the flare. Of course you dont have to boost like i prefer to do. You can do the oluv thing and leave bass ss is and drop the rest of the fr. I know you are sensitive to any distortion but i come from an era from under powered low efficiency amps and am accustomed to it at this price level. Im not not convinced its all amp clipping or drivers being driven past threshold, i think it may actually be part of poor dsp
@@alanrossreviews I think you can record distortion but it's not gonna be real anyway ... I wanted to know ... The songs that we listen on youtube ... Is it possible to have distortion within the track ... you're right it sounds like recording distortion but maybe within the editing session noise distortion some mess up happened ... I heard some said distortion could be within the track itself not in the speaker ...
Hey Alan, I wondered if I could ask you your audience’s recommendation for a good speaker (or selection of) that would be useful for 1️⃣ music production while traveling (decent freq response, low distortion, I’d say size wise JBL Boombox is too large) 2️⃣ a larger pa style speaker for djing or entertaining both inoors and outdoors (in array is fine) and 3️⃣ most convenient pocket sized for everyday use. I’m a professional music/audio dj/producer/engineer guy so I’d be looking for specs that don’t colour the sound too much (eg in built limiters 😵💫) and I already have actual pro gear in the studio - now I want to travel & be able to work/party on the move 😃. I will say from my dealings with speakers I have always found JBL usually deliver on all fronts, I like their sound & how they function - mini rig have been a massive disappointment & any others have been so underwhelming I can’t even remember what brands they were). Thanks for the thorough videos & generosity with your knowledge
Hi Alan, love you. In your 2 Booms vs 2 Pluses video, the Pluses didn't sound as bassy as the 2 Boosts here and maybe even the 1 Plus here. Did you record sound differently? Was BassUp off in the 2 Pluses video? What was different
dont forget the track itself will make a difference. everything gets recorded the same, thats at the core of everything i do. i did alter the setup for the stereo pairs but i forget the actual timeline. i used to record the stereo pairs videos from a little further out than the singles which leads to a drop in dynamic range so i now record everything same distance. i was trying to capture more of the imaging but everything has a trade-off.
@@alanrossreviews oh that makes sense lol, thanks for the reply. But in person, the Plus, whether in a small, mid, large-ish room, how great does it sound compared to a the boost pairs in your opinion? I'm a bit of an audiophile so I fuss a lot about getting the right audio tech I can lol
The boosts can hold their own as a pair against one plus. The plus still has a nicer high end with decent dispersion. But two boosts can be wide apart so yes two boosts can be an option rather a plus but sound signatures different so taste will be the decider.
Listening now, 2x boosts are more bass heavy, im having to reduce my custom setting with a pair to tame the basss. Two boosts smoother and fuller, plus sharper and thinner sounding. Two boosts win for me.
Thanks, Alan. Gotta question - my Charge 3 has been mildly crackling since yesterday, I'm considering getting a new speaker. Any advice for something with similar quality (Stereo and good bass) except the motion plus? The Onyx 5 is on sale here but its so big and mono from what I hear. Listening mostly to epic music ( 2 steps from hell etc.) Thanks.
Hum, the charge 5 is of course a mono version of the charge 3 with deeper bass. Its the safest option. The onyx 5 i have nit heard but the 6 and 7 are a mile away in terms of sound signature. I need to listen to the f5 again to compare. As a c3 fanboy i went m+ then motion boom, too big? In terms of size there is the denon 250, i personally prefer the warm sound of the boost vs the punch of the f5.
@@alanrossreviews Thanks for the tip. What is the 'f5'? do you refer to the onyx 5 or another speaker? the denon and motion boom are not available in the online shops in my area...and the charge 5 is not out yet. So I guess maybe the onyx 5...just never had a speaker so big before, i wonder if it will be an overkill.
Hi Alan. I bought a Soundcore 3, just to get better sound than the speakers on my phone. Waded through endless audiophile wankery reviews until I found one that grudgingly admitted the sound was 'ten times better than your phone's speakers' - #Sold Got it for 48 euro plus 5 euro p&p direct from Anker. So having stumbled across your YT channel (through a Reddit thread about your EQ witchcraft 😉) I have decided to upgrade (I think it's an upgrade, right?) to the Soundcore Motion+, for the aux input flexibility & better sound transmission (my next phone has a 3.5mm output) and because proper hifi speakers have separate tweeters so that must be better. And it's only 35 euro more. My questions are: Do you think a second Motion+ would improve the sound/worth another 88 euro? I have read the TWS link isn't reliable if they are not close together, which sort of defeats the stereo separation thing, what is your experience? And finally how long do the batteries last in your experience? Thanks, and your videos are great and very funny too, a rarity in the oh so serious hifi world. Cheers 😊
different reports on the battery, i can get 7 hrs but others say they get 3 hrs at max. yes m+ is a big upgrade on the soundcore 3 and yes a second would massively upgrade the immersion. i never had tws issues but the latest version uses a new chip so cant say how the latest models handle tws.
@@alanrossreviews Okay so I went ahead and ordered two motion+ models. First one had a dodgy battery so got on to Anker and they are sending me a replacement, second is due to arrive in January. I would assume both are the new chipset with the 73.75 firmware so I shall report back on the TWS and battery life. Thanks again.
Hello dear Alan Ross! Today I was doing picnic with my class and I used my Motion+ on 90-95% volume, after 45 minutes I started hearing creaking noises from my left tweeter,I lowered the volume to 80% and I still could hear it,it stopped this creaking noise at 70% volume. When I got home I played some music at 80-95% volume and I still heared it,I resetted my speaker and I still could hear that creaking noise.Should i contact support? PS:I was using it in Bass UP mode the whole time,I turned on the custom mode for 7 minutes to show my clasmates how loud it can get.
Hi brother. I just ordered the motionboom on amazon discount for 60. The boost is 50. Im not sure if i should buy the soundcoore boost instead. Price dif is 10 quid. I want something portable with bass and good clarity. Let me know
Alan, I need your help making a decision... I'm looking for a setup for a vintage car that I don't want to start mucking up and pulling the old stereo out and trying to update with a modern stereo since these Bluetooth speakers have gotten so good and affordable. I'm willing to spend upwards of $200 but looking for something that isn't going to be super bulky but has good punch and is loud enough to cut through road noise and engine noise. At first I was thinking two Motion+ but now I'm wondering about pairing two Trance Go speakers. This is tough! I'm happy to Venmo you or Paypal you a few bucks for your input. Thank you!
@@alanrossreviews hey Alan, thanks for the response. I was initially thinking two Motion+ speakers because they'd sit on the dash nicely, but wondering if it'd be loud enough. I was looking into the W-King stuff -- the pricing is bonkers. At first I thought there's no way those could be any good at the price, but they seem to be popular. There's a new W-King X10 speaker that seems compelling.
I have a question, I have motion + and boost v2. What better to buy a second boost to pair or motion boom? What is better to fill a large room with sound
Out of curiosity, does the bass get noticeably louder/deeper when pairing two Motion+s (versus one)? What about two Motion+s vs one Motion Boom? Will the Boom still out-boom?
You do understand that adding a mono speaker you don't get stereo, don't you? The processing is not a stereo processing, but a 2 x mono... Normally I would call you names, but I'm in a great mood right now and I have no desire to upset anyone... Cheers!
Just got my second Soundcore Motion + for Xmas (merry xmas to y'all). I've paired them together. But it's not true Stereo. Both speakers play the same sound and not different channels, am I missing something here ? One has 2 solid white lights (secondary speaker or slave) and the other one solid blue and one solid white (primary speaker). If you guys know how to have true stereo I'd be happy to hear how you do it. (or is it normal for the 2 channels to be "merged" ? Even if it's working this way it's a delight for my ears
@@alanrossreviews yes I did (I tried multiple stereo tests on RU-vid). Tested it with my headphones and it was true stereo. But it was still mono with the soundcore motion +. 🥲
Just found the solution !!! On my new phone there was a Mono mode in the settings, I just unchecked it and it works like charm now !!! I'm so relieved :)
VS 2x Boost. But I have found a video you did between 2x Motion+ and 2x Motion Boom. It gave me an idea. Difficult choice. I have a Bose Mini Soundlink. Do you have an idea how these Anker models would compare to it ?
