2x4 friendship / garden bench 

Never seen the support rails having dowels inserted and the explanations answered my questions. Amazing thought process and thanks! I love learning from the pros.

Struggled like others to find measurements, so sharing my new found sketchup knowledge. Assuming you found the link to "sketchup model" in his description, and have the free Sketchup. Use the orbit tool to move around (green/red arrow tool located middle right menu bar). Use the protractor tool to measure angles (under "tool" menu): 70deg on legs, 10deg back to bench. Use the tape measure tool to get lengths. His seem a little too large, most recommend a bench ht above ground of 15-17", and I'm measuring 18" on sketchup. Also most recommend a 5 deg pitch on bench seat. I can see a pile of cut lumber in sketchup, but never really found a cut list. Nice bench.

By far the best design I've seen using cost effective materials. The attention to detail and consideration for what and who would be using it is impressive! That you for sharing this project and the sketchup file. I'm busy pulling the dimensions so I can build a few for friends and family.

Installing the dowels into the 3 seat support area so your depending on screws in end grain for support excellent!

Nice video and a nice build. I suggest you give a little bit more explanation of the decisions you made and choices you had, as well as why certain things were done in such a way. Be not just an inspiration, be an inspiration and a teacher.

The bit where you drilled the supports and then filled them back in with a dowel puzzled me at first as I had never seen that. Then it all made sense. Thanks for the tip.

Why is it so difficult to have a cultist for this?.....scetch up is not user friendly at all....and the website is giving errors....what is the cut list for this cool project....like dementions and angles....

Nice build

If your familiar with sketchup you can use the dimension tool to get lengths,widths and thickness. Tedious I know, but doable.

Really nice project. I'm trying to figure out the dimensions on sketch-up, but I'm having problems. I would like to build this bench for the neighborhood school bus stop. I don't have money to waste cutting the wood incorrectly. Could you please share with us the dimensions for this bench? It was awesome that you went to the trouble of making a sketch-up plan, and sharing it FOR FREE, but many of your viewers seem unable to use sketch-up. If you could post a simple drawing with measurements and angles to cut, that would be wonderful! At any rate, it was fun to watch your build video.

wish I could have the dimensions. Sketchup doesn't show the measurements. keep trying it but i dont know 2016, 2017, 2018. Id really love to have this as my first project.

is there a reference to the sizes of the back rest frame? in the skechup model I can only see sizes of one piece out of two.

I have an unrelated question, I have the same Jet table saw and am looking for a pattern for a zero clearance insert. The thinness of the manufacture's and the small lips have made crating a solid one difficult for me. So I was wondering if you have a pattern? Thanks. By the way I love the bench and added it to a LONG list of projects.

Where did the slats come from? They seemed to just magically appear, or have I missed something? Nice look bench, and looks very strong - well done.

Pocket holes not robust? I've made a half dozen or more 2X4 benches using pocket holes and glue and you could park a truck on them and they'd be fine. All that being said, you made a great looking bench.

do you put a coat of sealant or something to protect against rot or bugs? if so what kind?
