This is a Gem for people who are just starting out. I use every method he mentioned especially during a beat block phase I use a goto drum pattern and then wing it. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@theycallmeheat hello. the following statements are not easy for me to write, because i fear they will be misunderstood. if a "producer" needs to be TAUGHT how to make boom-bap beats, they just don't have what it takes. it's engrained, it can't be learned. second, making beats while staring at a large computer screen means you're making beats with your eyes. the computer tells you where & how to place everything... no, no, no. ears, fingers, heart, brain, & soul should come before putting a puzzle together on a screen larger than the ones provided on 90's samplers. third, how many phony ass rookies are going to whip up decent beats because you divulged a generic recipe? if they can't do it on their own, through a normal learning process, like experimentation & trial by error, are they tru skool hedz down for the culture? or culture vultures seeking shortcuts? no personal offense intended, i'm just sick of all these tutorials telling kids with fancy gear that they can be the next preemo.
@@theycallmeheat after what i wrote, that's the best you can come up with? bottom line, you're helping poseurs & phonies. sure, you could reply with something like, "it takes one to know one", however, everything i wrote makes sense. guru of gangstarr, intro on "hard to earn": if you ain't got it, then you ain't got it."
Yo… this was one of the best tutorial videos I’ve ever come across on RU-vid for Bloomberg. Thank you so much for this. You gotta subscriber right here.
Hey man, thanks for that and everything that you're creating. You're amazing person to learn from if somebody struggle with feeling right at place producing and any fears connected to that. You would do helluva career as some kind of coach if your respect for people was lower - "Heat" is accurate because there is something empowering for others coming from you naturally.
Bro thank you for the video can you please i mean please upload another one with more drum patterns please bro, peace and love bro your beats are fire man!🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾💯🙌🏾✊🏾👊🏾🧘🏾♂️🤼🏿♂️✌🏾
Not these samples. But I do have sample packs like this on there. Check out the choppy snacks sample packs boombapuniversity.com/product/choppy-snacks-sample-pack/
I've never seen someone use 16 levels in there FL workflow. I've always wanted to try that method. Could you do a video on how you set that up in the DAW or is it a function specific to the controller? -Thanks
16 levels is a feature on my midi controller. Hopefully one day they will add that feature in the future to fl studio. But most Akai controllers have that feature
I just thought of a way to make it work only using FL Studio plugins. It may be a bit tedious, but it will work nonetheless. If you're interested, let me know and I'll make a quick video for you.
Maybe you can help because I cannot find any videos. How do I mix a kick and open hat, so they mesh well together as one like I hear in so many BB drums.
@@theycallmeheat dude, we gotta network! I got this song I wrote called: "Everybody's A Hustla". I wrote it to Cassidy's: "I'm A Hustler" beat, but I fucks with your 90s style defined by the boom bap!
Thanks for this just what l needed video to use in Fl. The Dilla and Swing style like you said make almost anything you do on top pop through better L dont understand the Ghost notes and moving notes around if Fl like you expkained. I do get the change the time from 4x4 to 4x5 etc. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK 😂 WE ARE WHY.
lol. you got this fam. I would say, grab your favorite songs and recreate their drum patterns then mute the original song and go back into see what the patterns look like, where notes are placed.
Wow yall new guys killed music..i remember having to get a job ..just for a mpc2000....which will buy that whole set up....im gen x...."copy and paste"😮 thats why music sucks today...damm a ad popped up ...thought that was u...a real producer. ..never a reàl one..sorry ...now everyone make beats....its very hard to be a real producer. ...everyone got fl...😢 i cut my mpc on empty. ....😅 omg. # gen x....
I start FL Studio empty as well. Lol, I don’t know what all the hate is for. Just create your shxt & I’ll create mine. But hating like this will forever hinder your progression. I hope nothing but the best for you my friend!! 💯💯
I have a crunk beat which I want to send you and I need your email. The beat is free so you can use it if you want and maybe put more energy into it if you want to REMAKE IT! Yes, remake. Reply if you want and keep it up👍🔥
another cool hack for ableton users, use slice to new midi on a drum break and it will extract the drums to midi, when im lacking inspiration, i can get a cool new kick and snare pattern from a break..
That second drum pattern helped out so much. Was always using full level with my hi hats but i realized using velocity makes it sound more human and has more swing
What I really like is that u can use these drum patterns for trap beats and mix it up instead of 2 step hats, snare every 3rd for 12-16 bars straight. Makes a huge difference. Thanks for sharing your knowledge bro I appriciate it! So simple and mad fire 🔥
Yeah i think the same but soooo many people start with chords or melody even pro beatmakers and you still can adapt your drums to the melody instead of melody for drums its pretty the same thing
If you highlight your notes hold shift and click the right arrow on your keyboard it will take your notes off beat a bit and make it sound real make sure you're snap is on none
Nah, it’s a setting or feature on my midi controller. It’s an Akai thing, it’s on all the MPC units as well. But your controller should he velocity sensitive, somewhat similar to 16 levels. Just have to hit your keys softer for the lower volumes. Hope this helps 💯💯
@theycallmeheat nah I love it, but it ain't timeless. I was just having this discussion yesterday with this cat I met at barbershop. We gotta really stop using 16bit or below things and also keep progressing into the future of audio. That includes our repetitive patterns that were merely exploited limitations of the good ol days. Boom bap had its day
