Did you find it? I believe most '321' episodes are here... Please tell us, I'd love to see your dear Dad! Maybe ask him what the theme was his week - because each episode had a specific theme, eg Seaside, The Far East, Music Hall, Egypt etc etc. I love these eighties gems - I always say the married couples must all have divorced, ages ago, lol!!!

Ted was always such a sweetie to the public - he clearly felt bad for the pair that had to leave! I believe he was a genuinely decent, caring guy - that's what people who met him say. I used to love this series, it was sparkly, glam & very much SATURDAY night, family telly! It takes me right back to my childhood. We have zilch today in the same league - it's all reality TV shite without any talent or glamour in it. Why did the superb actcr Roger Brierley agree to play Frankenstein for this dreadful thing with DLT... Roger was better than that - he did memorable star turns in Rising Damp, Porridge, Coronation Street, etc. I guess it was a job and he needed the money, God bless him!

Hi Yeah...I met Ted after a show at Leeds City Varieties. He chatted to me for half an hour about his career & family and was more than happy to sign a couple of 3-2-1 items for me. Such a lovely man.

@@philnewton-england7795 Thanks for sharing your story, that was really good to hear! How tragic that Ted died aged 67 in 2001 after open heart surgery, and his wife Marion was sadly unable to raise his children, youngest child Danny aged 12, and daughter Canna, 15, due to her early-onset dementia. Ironically, Marion was a dancer decades younger than Ted, when they first got together. No one could have predicted she'd have the mind of an old lady when he died, and be unable to raise their son and daughter. Despite earning millions from his 10 year tenure hosting '321' from 1978 to 1988 (plus lucrative cabaret, advertising and other work), Ted had no money left when he died due to bad investments. He was declared bankrupt at the start of 1992. The family's huge mansion in Buckinghamshire was repossessed and they had to move to a modest address in Surrey. Ted kept working, doing stage work like seaside summer seasons, and TV adverts for McDonalds. But his earnings were nothing like the riches he'd enjoyed as host of '321'. This coupled with Marion's tragic dementia meant his youngest children were very vulnerable when he passed away in 2001. Danny and Canna were fostered out to strangers - apparently no family members were willing or able to offer them a home, despite them having two adult older half sisters Fenella and Dena from their father's first marriage. That seems incredibly strange and sad to me. In recent years, Danny Rogers has written and starred in an acclaimed, autobiographical one man show touring the UK, co-starring one of the original 'Dusty Bins' owned by his beloved dad. I'm sure Ted never expected to die after that life-saving surgery - no one expects to die, do they? But because he hadn't made adequate financial provision for his dependent children, despite knowing their mother was so vulnerable through her dementia, they wound up having a really tough time farmed out to strangers. Hopefully in time, they managed to find their feet. Danny did brilliantly to produce a one-man show about his dad which won so much acclaim. The show's publicity described it as 'A riches to rags story'. Truth is stranger than fiction! Hopefully Danny's older sister Canna is doing well too. My heart goes out to them both. They essentially lost two parents when their dad died, and that was utterly tragic.

@@glamdolly30 Thanks for your lovely & informative reply. I hardly knew any of that information. What a sad story behind such a happy, genuinely nice gentleman. I had a Brief chat on here with Danny & never got round to showing him my photos with Ted, as he’d asked. Ted was so much more than 3-2-1, as many fans will know. Many thanks again for sharing.

@@philnewton-england7795 You're welcome, good to chat with a fellow enthusiast of real showbusiness! Danny Rogers had a RU-vid channel at one time, he probably still does. Perhaps you could reach out to him - I'm sure he'd appreciate it, he's rightfully very proud of his dad and loves reminiscing about him. The way Ted Rogers' story ended shows that the great gifts of fame and wealth are no protection from tragedy. At the height of his '321' success with the world at his feet, cash rolling in and a beautiful young family, Ted and his brood must have been the envy of many people. Who could ever have imagined the fates would conspire so cruelly against them? But I prefer to remember Ted Rogers when he was at the top, with his sharp suits, quick wit and a twinkle in his eye. Ted was amazing at tongue twisters, and did a great performance in this 1983 guest appearance on Bob Monkhouse's chat show (uploaded to Danny Rogers' YT channel). Don't know if you've seen it, but it's well worth a look - two legendary British performers shining bright, comedy giants and both very much missed! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LUb_07IXjjs.html Stay safe & well my friend! Would it work today with the quiz portion, no sketches or acts, and the 5 "clue objects"? I like that the idea is not so much to win a big prize as it is to get rid of Dusty Bin.
