3 24 Mjolner Archmage early build guide

Ball Lightning probably has the highest defensively among the gems, in that it can do up to 13 hits per cast per target - Discipline ES on hit and instant leech is near immortality against non one-shots (Instant Leech can be picked up through Light Eater, 4 points - Also gives us energy shield leech without needing cluster jewel, which is something. Can potentially grab a Prismatic Heart instead). Annointing Adjacent Aminosity is a DPS increase over Primal Spirit for Ball Lightning - It does hurt clear a little bit with the reduced projectile speed though. You can path through the 2x 10% increased Area of effect (Over the 2x 10 int nodes) near Blast Radius and lose only 1 node for Split Personality in your late-game trees. Enduring Cry with the new Call to Arms will give us Endurance Charges, and that will allow us to drop Conviction of Power to grab Illuminated Devotion for 30% increased AoE and 50% reduced ailment effect. The crit on Power Charge doesn't really increase our damage other than Elemental Overload uptime, but with the amount of single target hits Ball Lightning pumps out it will easily have 100% uptime. Between all of this , we can reach 12 hits on Ball Lightning (11 if we go with Primal Spirit annoint) with a 20 quality Ball of Lightning gem + Slower Projectiles. You can get the 13th hit with Arcane Expanse wheel for 3 points (Breakpoint is 23% with the above if you can get it from other sources, such as Corrupted Jewels) Edit: You can easily achieve the remaining AoE with an Unnatural Instinct at Scion. Illuminated Devotion + Sanctuary of Thought + 36% AoE from Unnatural Instict would only need 7% increased Area of Effect (This is WITHOUT the Area of effect near Blast Radius) - That's 2 corrupted jewels. If you DROP Illuminated Devtion and instead go with the AoE nodes near blast radius, you would need 17% increased area of effect - Which is 4 corrupted Jewels. Or you can just go with both and it's solved from the get-go. Corrupted Mjölner is also an option, as you can get up to 20%.

With your damage calculation of the manabond setup to compare you forgot : In PoB the base damage of missing mana for manabond is multiplied by the 160% efeectiveness of the skill, wich is wrong since it's not added damage. So it makes the archmage setup even better compared to manabond, Ty and Keep up the insane good work !

Thanks a ton for the early game guide. I really want to start playing your mana stacking builds this league. I've never been to this side of the tree so any additional POBs is appreciated. Even would love a simple campaign leveling one, as well as more 'snapshots' of late game POBs to see realistic upgrades you should first aim for late game.

I used lightning conduit of heavens for my CoC Energy Blade setup last league and it felt so nice for mapping.

Don't know if you're still reading comments out here, but I discovered your channel last league when I was not having a good league start. Your breakdown of Delve and way of explaining mana based chicanery enticed me to try stuff I had never really sunk my teeth into before. Being a bit of a sook about doing the campaign again, I just respecced my guardian to jump straight in and holy heck, I had an absolutely awful time. Cut so many corners and wasn't understanding enough to even try and make it work. Crashed and burned hahahaha. Honestly, your demeanor and just, kutzpah about not needing to be the first there and it doesn't matter so long as you get there have really inspired me. I'm going to league start this, I'm probably going to eat shit because I've never done it before, but I'm going to stick through it. I'm going to be plodding along a month in probably just affording my Mjolnir but I'm excited for the journey regardless. Thanks for making the video's and sharing your stuff man. It's been super fun to follow along with.

definitely looks solid, only thing that gives me pause with the new archmage hype and boss drop alterations for boss drop items (indigon, etc), just getting into the real endgame setup could be very expensive. I do think storm call could be very fun when you get to AoE scaling, reminds of when I played 0 CD frost bomb a few leagues back, massive aoe overlap with the the one downside of it flashbanging your screen lol. I do think its worth mentioning CTA support now with things like enduring cry to really bolster defenses early as well

nice video. Can you maybe do a leveling Selection in the BV Tree for the Acts. and what gems to play b4 BV to level.

hey, ive never played a mana stacker before, this league im looking for something a bit off meta from all the DD and LA spam and this looks a bit more niche for me. Hows the leveling on BV? I mean you have to lvl with different skills anyway, but when can you comfortably switch to BV setup in the pob? is it possible with less than 6L setup? After that what do you actually need to get coc setup going? Just mjolnir is enough? How many links in chest would be needed for it to feel comfy? I would guess you can cut out lightning warp and less duration? Thanks for the build, i will be checking this channel more often ;)

Hi! Quick question. I see both Wrath+Divine Blessing and Determination+Eternal Blessing in your BV pob. What's the catch/trick ? From the text of the blessings you can only have 1 of them active, unless i missed sth. Great channel btw and looking forward to my first MStacker.

I like this setup because it's kinda easy to transition to the other build I wanted to try: energy blade CoC inquisitor. Especially if you're going for forbidden jewels for the crit node on inquisitor

Got a couple of questions as I'm planning on a HC league start with mana stacker (first time both HC and mana stack so good RIPs coming): 1) What would be the most crucial changes to adapt to HC playstyle? Probably around removing the need for coruscating but what do we swap out in terms of items or suffixes to add the chaos res there? Prior to the Mjolner build I'm assuming the case will be that the fodder gear will basically target survivability apart from checking some mana thresholds etc 2) Ties to the above, but the later build uses an unser ring but no skills are added there, do we need it or could this be another amethyst to help with chaos res? First time hardcore with a new build is a bit difficult but really can't stand going with the DD hype train crap xD

What atlas strat are you planning with this? At the moment i'm thinking breach/delve.

Thoughts on Shock Nova? I'm expecting it to not perform as well given the mechanics of the skill, but the damage in the double hit ring seemed fairly decent, comes out slightly higher than the ball lightning setup if I plug it into the PoB.

Thanks for the starter idea, definitely gonna run this too. Also the idea of playing a somewhat usable version of BV is nice too. BV aoe is such a joke, hopefully at least sanctuary of thought will make it better

Regarding the mana cost of Archmage, the new version of the gem says "added Mana Cost equal to 5% unreserved mana" (no mention of maximum mana).

Yo Conner, I've never run a manastacker build before and I haven't played Hierophant in a while. I know you say you're not gonna tell us the exact pathing of the Passive Tree, but can you give us an idea of what notables to aim for initially or a general pathing method? Do you have a previous video or a POB that has something like this? Also, what is the order of ascendancy skills? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! I think I'm going to give this a try for this upcoming league.

Could this build get to a power level (with Mjolner) where it can farm its own Indigon, or is Trade really the only option?

How does controlled destruction with ele overload feel in the early version PoB? With only 4% crit chance, is ele overload reliably up? I've always been told that for it to be reliable, you need 16-20% crit. But Ive never used it, so just curious on how that interaction feels. Love the look of the build and all the optional skills you included! Been wanting to play mana stacker for a while, but its quite an intimidating archetype to me for some reason. But you've given me the info, build and confidence to give it a try, finally! Thanks a lot and good luck with the league! Can't wait to see how your jugg ends up!

How does this compare to the self cast palsteron build in terms of raw power? I feel the pure ES version can scale to gigantic power level once you get enough str to cap crit with the help of power charges

How does this build deal with ailments? I dont see any flask suffixes removing bleed or freeze. Is this because it's an early snapshot of last league and you hadn't set up your flasks yet? Either way, I am probably gonna leaguestart this. looks dope thanks for the vid

What about the defense layer especially the BV version, didn't see any EH/HP leech/gain on hit and almost 0 regen, while for the initial Mjolner setup, it is only storm drinker. Is it worth taking the leech mastery wheel?

1. Why no leech on any POBs? 2. How do you plan to get colors on the staff in with no chromes? What alternate supports will you look at?

There’s a bit of a trap in Ball lightning. You lose damage because you have to be in melee range to trigger them. Like, if a boss is smaller size and you spin on top of it you lose many of the hits a single ball lighting can do

As usual, great video, Conner! Though I have one question regarding BV - won't the clear be pretty bad? Now, I haven't played BV in a long time (last time I played with it was when people ran triple heralds for the clear). But it feels like one might be struggling running it, even with Sanctuary of Thought. Or am I missing something? 😅

Hello, I'm new and just learned about you because someone on Twitch said if I want to play Lightning Conduit which I do; they said to watch your videos. I want to play Lightning Conduit but I want to play as the Witch and use the spell by myself not use cyclone, can this be done pls?

Would archmage ignite be feasible? Since Hierophant is optimal for archmage and Elementalist is the (easiest?) way to ignite with lightning damage.

Absolution does seem to be much easier to set up bigger overlaps vs the 30% dmg loss but absolution can scale with phys. I'd love to see a deep dive on this with something like a shock nova enh cwc cyclone or something.

what's the levelling ascendancy order? we have to go first sanctuary of thought before bv?

Quick tip for early archmage self casters; use lavianga (2c flask) AND Vaal Clarity (10 base seconds of free mana)

I've been thinking about doing a Destructive Play / Invitation farmer with this build with Ball Lightning of Orbiting. I like it how it looks like a Hammerdin of old :D

I built this last league and got to around 6-8m dps, then had trouble scaling it higher. Any chance you can help us out with more pob snapshots? It felt like I had about 20-30 divs in and the next steps were all hundreds of divs.

I’m going to try the jugg start, prefer to play one character for the whole league, did mjolner the last two leagues and loved it though

I didnt play the last league. If you do use Arcane Cloak, is there a new way to recover your mana quickly since the loss of Anomalous Mana leech? Other than the standard regen and pots?
