Yes, there is a thickness indicator. Every mill has one. The lever is a ratchet mechanism that operates in either direction. You turn the handle of the lever to the right and pull to move it one way, left and pull to move it the other way.
Metal is much more fun than wood, because with wood, you make a fail measurement and cut it, you cant put it back together properly, glue isnt a good solution. With metal, you can always weld it back and it will be strong as ever. Thats why I love metal more than wood :)
We go a sawmill over my grandmothers very much the same as that except the log carrage is on the side of the operator and a seperate gauge fence that sits stationary on the backside of the blade. Powered by a 170cid Ford diesel. Cool vid!!! Do you supply the logs for projects?
Great machine. However, I'm curious about the location of the thickness indicator. The sawyer seems to simply pull a lever without reference to a measuring device. Or is that set for one thickness in advance of operations? I've noted this lever device on numerous other circular saw videos.
James Campbell If you look at the mechanism that adjusts the thickness of the cut it has little brass pegs that you can adjust for 1.5 or 2.0" etc for one full pull of the lever
