3.5hp Mercury Carburetor Upgrade 

I just did the same now, easy peasy, and the engine is a lot more sound at least in the testing bucket. Tomorrow will test on the lake. I love to have a light engine with 5Hp. I use it in a skiff for fishing.

Other YT vids seem to indicate the upgrade solves the stock carb hesitation issue while giving negligible power increase. In theory the upgrade kit should fit on the 2.5 as well since it's the same engine as the 3.5 (physical dimensions).

Hey. Good video. I was wondering if the mounting face was the same size for the 4/5/6hp versions and this answers that. Had you tried the mixture screw? It's usually under an anti-tamper brass plug. I found it was screwed all the way in on one of mine that was having idling issues (from factory). The workshop manual states it should be 2.5 turns out and then fine tuned. That sorted my idle issue. How did you find the carbs performance long-term? Was it actually making any noticeable extra power? Thanks. :)

Thanks for the video. I have problems with the original factory 3.5hp carburetor. It hesitates going from idle speed to main jet and sometimes shuts down on main jet as well. Could you please share link to get the 5hp carb? Did you get the original Mercury /mariner carb? thanks
