Can you give an example? Usually for stories that are told out of order, or the end at the beginning, it is used as an attention grabber before switching to the beginning.

@@MacabreStorytelling Fallen (1998) or Mullholland Dr (2001), if they have what is the climax first; then go back to 'the beginning/how we got here' then it doesn't seem to fit the 3-act structure. Unless you said, it was until it was jumbled up - which seems like a cheat. It would be like saying Cubism is realism, but a lot blockier.

Depends on the show and format. A show like The Sopranos is serialized but is more episodic. Each episode has self-contained elements but also elements that add to the season or series arc. A show like Breaking Bad, while still SLIGHTLY episodic, is far more just straight up serialized, playing out like a gigantic movie. The Wire is perhaps one of the most serialized shows (per season at least) on television.

No worries man. Written a couple of pilot scripts. I found during college I tended to be more drawn to TV for its potential to be able to tell a story over a much longer span of time.

@@MacabreStorytelling that's great man, regardless of the issues involved, it's good that you went for it (and as I see, you're still going strong). I've been doing lots of background stuff in NYC; Law and Order, CSI, morning shows, pilots, Indi, disney etc, then I got into casting which is surprisingly lots of fun..but today?... showbusiness is scattering all around the nation, most importantly they're leaving NYC and LA (the more popular show business locations as we know) but these days we're all re examining who/what/where we are. We're in the 2nd act all this time so we need to start working towards a cathartic ending. Keep doing your thing bro😎
