the SA is a part breaking machine! CB is still my favorite weapon (and form of communication) but the SA is awesomesauce.. Great Jagras SA has Exhaust Phial witch does KO damage when hitting the head....i just started using the Hammer recently....it goes BONK! Stun/stagger happy weapon...whichever weapon you use just keep smashin!

For faster monsters (Rajang family, Raging Brachy), I tenderize a leg(or arm) and use Power Axe mode until I get a knock down. Power Axe mode has high flinch/break rates, so once you get that first break, it makes Sword mode easier to use as you'll get a lot more knockdowns. I encourage you going into a hunt using just Power Axe mode (no sword mode). You'll find you have more mobility, faster part breaks and trips/flinches👍🏾

To add this this, (in World) Sword Mode essentially is for Mind's Eye and DPS while Axe Mode is for reach, part breaking and mobility.

I've been trying to make this "work" for years but honestly, it's relevancy simply lies in feeling cool and being stylish. It's too difficult to pull off consistently (framerate probably playing a role in it once again) for what you get, and in 99% cases you're better off focusing on other attack options. Really the only advantage is buffing the axe quicker so you can roll half a second earlier and potentially avoid an attack that would've gotten you, but it's incredibly niche and it's not like you really need the axe buff on most monsters anyways.

I talk a bit about it in my main guide and I do want to make some "example builds" for LR, HR and MR for sure. For now I can recommend you evade window, power porlonger and maybe extender. There aren't that many Switch Axe specific skills that are like mandatory. One level in earplugs may also be interesting because the ZSD gives you four levels already.

I have a full guide on my channel if you're interested but to maintain your switch gauge you have to switch back to axe mode every now and then. Doing a morph attack from sword to axe mode always gives you a decent amount of gauge back. Sheathed and in axe mode, the gauge refills automatically over time. Morphing attacks will help a lot and whenever you don't have a good opening you'd want to switch to axe mode so the gauge can refill and you have higher mobility.

Nope, the final hit of the discharge itself cannot crit. The ticks however are treated as coming from the blade and not the amped state so they can crit. The dicharges on each sword hit in amped state can't crit either.

Well, the input has to be done frame perfect basically and sometimes it glitches out and still performs a way too fast third swing. I can't do it with a regular wild swing and the hard thing to do is going into the heavy slam directly after the second swing. It shouldn't be possible to just perform two swings and going into the heavy slam directly according to the switch axe tips ingame.

You can release the ZSD earlier, which makes it weaker and drops you straight to the ground with no real recovery animation. I have a full guide on switch axe, where I talk about this exact thing in the very last "secret tip" of the video!

Most of the times it is Fatalis gear, it is the only way to exceed the standard limit of health boost and a meal which results in 150HP while Fatalis gives you 200HP and Stamina as well.

Yes I saw that video, it's insane lol yeah the Discharge really isn't that optimal but still satisfying if you manage to kill the monster right away with it. BTW I am almost done with the script for the video containing your Sleeper Guiding Lands build!

@@BloodyWyverian oh wow crazy you really made one? Cool! tbh now one could maybe even abuse the palico trick in GL. Basically when the monster sleeps set everything up and start the meowcano and then towards the end right before the final explosion that multi procs and does 50k+ dmg wake the monster up. Need to test that tomorrow. Then again not everyone is a fan of glitch abuse but its certainly much easier than gunlance stake staking.

Dodogama has the best HitZoneValue when it has eaten rocks, it was sleeping so the damage is doubled. I used the axe sweep which has the highest motion value for Switch Axe attacks AND I used the skill "Jumpmaster" which increases the damage of jumping attacks by 30%.... AND Critical Boost... but I want to get over 1000

MR really is challenging that is true. I will make some tip videos on certain monsters in the near future but for now I can only recommend you evade extender maybe and focussing on axe mode for higher mobility! Maybe check out my full guide! An exhaust phial can also help you against all non-elders to slow down the monsters.

Dodogama actually have the best weakspot in the game. There’s a moment after he’s eaten rocks where his mouth starts glowing, making it the monster you can see the highest damage number possible in the entire game
