3 Alarm Fire - Multiple Structures - Grants Pass, Oregon

Wednesday August 8, 2012 @ 3pm.
1500 block of Rogue River Highway just inside the city limits of Grants Pass, Oregon.
The fire broke out in the garage of an apartment complex and quickly spread into open land threatening about a dozen residential and commercial structures plus an auto sale lot right next door.
A disabled woman was rescued by Grants Pass Firefighters, her house was also saved.
No injuries reported. One dog and three cockatoos were killed in the fire.
Fire units from as far as Selma (21 miles from incident) responded. Departments include Grants Pass City, Rural/Metro, Illinois Valley, Rogue River (Jackson County) and Oregon Department of Forestry.

Generally, the number of alarms determines the number of engines, trucks, and personnel sent to a fire.according to its severity. The status can change after the first units arrive. The highest it can go is a five-alarm fire, which usually means all available apparatus and personnel are sent, like last week when an under-construction apartment building here in Portland was destroyed in a spectacular fire. Mutual assistance was sent by Vancouver, WA.

Alright. Within the city limits was good. the surrounding contract departments aren't so great . Rural/metro has been doing good though. this looked like a pretty big fire. thanks for the upload

Kandi, alarms are responses, every department has a set number of engines, trucks and command units initially dispatched to a fire, with a second alarm it usually doubles that number with a third it quadruples with smaller departments like these you have to specify what you need on your next alarm or you could get a brush truck when you need a type 1 engine
