Tilting the airpopper solved all my problems: no more unpopped kernals spitting out of my machine, almost no unpopped kernals, no more kernals exploding outside the popper. First time I've ever written a comment for a RU-vid presentation but you really deserve it

what works better in my opinion is a metal spatula inserted into the popper to bounce all the kernels and corn back, I tilt mine back sometimes with a small piece of wood when I first start the machine so no kernels fly out while I get my butter going but switch to the spatula when the popping starts, once the popcorn starts rising can remove the spatula till close to the end put it back and bounce the remaining stubborn kernels back.

I was searching out a video because I just made a batch of pop popcorn only to have the first 30 kernels shoot out into my bowl. So glad I found your video. My next batch all use your tip for tilting the air popper to keep that from happeningever again.

can insert a metal spatula also works great until corn fills the chamber, i find it works better than the tilt.

I love avocado oil spray because it is sweet like butter, raw, and I mist it lightly on three layers as the popcorn is popped. Raw oil is much healthier for the body than cooked. Trader Joe's avocado oil in spray can is the least expensive at $3.99.

Great video! We already figured out about not melting the butter in the top and tilting the popper. No gourmet popcorn for us. We like Jolly Time Yellow Pop Corn. Lots of melted butter and table salt. We'll try the popcorn salt, etc. We like the Lawry's too, but haven't tried it on popcorn.

I'm getting nothing but stale. Yes it's ol big fluffy Orville. But it's fine in the Microwave Bowel. Should I let some of the kernels sit in the sun for a week? TIP # 4 !!

I have always tilted my air popper but it doesn't help with several of the kernals flying out before they popping starts and during the process! I don't know what to do about this.

Hi David, thank you for taking the time to do this video. I do have any issue and I was wondering if that is normal or you can help me solve it? I use an air popper and my popcorns come out very hard and chewy in the center and it gets stock in my teeth. Am I doing something wrong or that is how it is with air poppers? Thank you P/S, I use just regular store popcorn
@DavidLovrien
@DavidLovrien 7 месяцев назад
Have you tried any other brands? The inexpensive store brands can be disappointing. Also your popcorn will stay fresh longer if you store it in an air-tight container in a cool, dark place.

Hi David, you know since then I tried the same popcorn in a big pan on the stove and it came out nice and soft. So I think maybe my air popper is the issue or I have to put less Kernels in it and run it 2-3 times? . @@DavidLovrien

Heard that preheating an air popper before using it helps increase the size of the popcorn. Is there any truth to this?

Hey! I love seasoned salt on my popcorn, too! But I actually prefer Kroger's brand. I've been trying to use the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray to get my seasoned salt to stick, and it's not working!!! I pump like crazy as soon as the popped corn falls into the bowl but, dang it, the seasoned salt I add later won't stick. And I get butter spray outside my bowl! Guess I'll have to go back to drizzling melted butter on it. I'm going to try tilting the popper and see if that helps save those precious few kernels from being wasted. Thanks!
@DavidLovrien

I’ve considered getting a spice grinder. Finely ground salt sticks much, much better
@anitaj9801
@anitaj9801 Год назад
@@DavidLovrien Might be a good idea in order to keep on using that seasoned salt! And sprayed on margarine is probably better than drizzled. I just read that you can also use a coffee grinder as long as you don't need it for coffee anymore. I think I have one I can use since my late husband was the coffee drinker, not me. Hey, that tilting tip worked, thanks!

I just ran across some info on Reddit about hydrating the kernels with water -yes, water - first, and I'm going to try it with my hot air popper. I've already had success adding water to my microwave popping container for a higher yield, so I'm optimistic about trying this strategy with the hot air popper.

What popper did you buy?
@bernicepiotrowski9694
@bernicepiotrowski9694 13 дней назад
This is what I read: "Chewy" popcorn is a normal characteristic when using the Hot Air Popper. It may give the perspective of being stale as well. To attempt to alleviate this, we suggest that you hydrate your corn prior to using. You perform this by adding 1 teaspoon (water, I guess) per 1 cup of corn into an airtight container.

Its popcorn not rocket science. You really don't need the gimmicky turning handle thingy or a stand alone air popper. I have been making popcorn on my stove top for years without the whirly pop. I use a (drum roll please) 2 quart saucepan I bought at IKEA over ten years ago. Here's how. Ingredients: 1/3 cup popcorn 1/4 teaspoon salt Vegetable oil Process: 1) Into a preheated saucepan on mediumish low heat (it depends on your stove) pour enough oil to evenly coat all of the kernels in the bottom of the saucepan. Only add three unpopped kernels and leave them (and only them) until they pop. 2) Add the salt and popcorn and leave the lid just slightly off of the pan. Swirl once to coat the popcorn. 3) Leave it be. Really, just leave it be. No, don't walk away, but don't touch it either. 4) Once the popping has slowed until there is only one pop every eight seconds or so turn off the heat. Now wait a bit until the random last pops happen and pour into a really big bowl. Or you can spend $40.00 - $50.00 (or more) for a gadget you only use once every so often, but then forget about and let gather dust in the back of your cupboard.

I love stovetop popcorn too! But air popped popcorn has 30+grams less fat and leaves me no pot to clean :-)
@danieljacobson74
@danieljacobson74 10 месяцев назад
@@DavidLovrien Then what is the point of popcorn. It is a salty fatty snack that if (2 table spoons of) sugar is added (to the recipe I included) fulfills the trifecta of the 'ultimate caveman food' (just be careful to not burn it). It is literally supernormal stimuli at its best.

Depends...if you eat popcorn with olive or avocado spray and garlic powder with cayenne pepper powder sprinkled on a big bowl with a lid .. shake, flip... Shake some more .. even with a dash of salt popcorn can be an enjoyable everyday healthy snack. better than 90 percent of the snacks in the store... And when making it at home, it will be a lot cheaper... So why not?
@danieljacobson74
@danieljacobson74 8 месяцев назад
@@151mcx Okay... you like fixings with your popcorn. Little tip grind the salt to a super fine dust (i meant really fine). The smaller the particle the more will stick to your popcorn. You use less. If you use a cast iron pan you can use less oil, you just need to preheat the thing. But this will burn most oils like avocado oil. As for flavorings. they need to go on after you make the popcorn, not before. Fukumaki is actually a great popcorn flavoring that most people don't think about and can only be added after the fact.
