Hack # 1. If you land at the A,B,C or D1-4 gates then the Immigration 1 you refer to will be the first one that you come to. There is no hard and fast rule as to which channel to go to - it depends on how many flights came in at one time and which side of the airport they disembark. If you do see a big queue at the first one you get to, try the other one.

Great stuff Besty, the immigration hack is brilliant, for quite a few years I got away with going to the priority channel, that sadly stopped about a year ago. I have a bank account with the Bangkok Bank and I use transferwise to send my money in advance of my holiday. Prior to this I used the transferwise prepaid debit card which guarantees you the mid market rate in which other country you find yourself in for very very very low fees. My experience of the exchange offices is that twelve Victory tend to be among best wherever you are in Thailand. I hope you are enjoying your stay and a few that some stage our paths will cross and we can have a beer, until then take care please keep the videos coming and thanks for or continuing to entertain me.

Just walk to the airport rail link. The exchange place is then to the left side where you buy tickets for the train.

Good to see you back Besty. Another tip is to avoid those travelators between floors in the main terminal - torture if it's busy and you're stuck behind loads of trolleys which can't roll! Use the lift instead or if you've just got a bag then use the escalators. Have a great trip

Micheala Boone No need yo be nervous. Take new bills, no tears and exchange some in the airport and the rest in town as needed. Same with a SIM, the employee will set you up.

If your a return tripper to Thailand take some Thai baht home with you, and when you come out of arrivals head up the escalator and there is a family mart for beer, food, cigarettes..Then continue up to departure level and walk out and meet your taxi driver if you have one already booked or negotiate with a taxi who has just completed a drop off...get driver to stop at TT currency exchange before you reach hotel...quickest and easiest way to get out of suvanabumi and with supplies as well..

welcome back, my last flight was on my birthday, the airline really looked after me well, one of the things they gave me was a VIP immigration pass....not a single person waiting, they had also expressed my case which was already on the carousel when I got to it......from stepping off the plane to meeting my taxi driver was less than 20 minutes, RESULT :)

I've seen the spots to get a good exchange rate before, but your hack #2....the sim card place at the luggage belts...I never have seen them before. I am definitely going to try it next time. I mean, you have to wait to get your luggage anyway, might as well make use of it and get your sim card.

Welcome back BFB. You sound pretty upbeat. I wonder why lol! You changed a lot of money, making hack #3 useful. Otherwise it seems like quite a lot of effort to go into the bowels of the airport just to save a few quid, but this is up to the individual. Good tips. I have been using the change place in rail station last 2 trips based on your advice. Last time in July I was with my Thai wife. I told her I was going to change money there she said why. I met up with her again later after she had done shopping I told her what rate I got. She said oh. She didn’t get close to it in Bangkok.

At time 10:44 there is a 7-Eleven right there. It has the same prices at 7-Elevens out in town. At time 11:47 there is a Super Rich exchange directly opposite from the bank you showed.

Eat in the Magic Food point, take the cheap train (that stops everywhere, with Petchaburi- Makkasan as the change station) into town, and if you're going to Don Meung airport there's a free shuttle bus!

I've seen most beer-bars do beers for around £1.60-£1.90 (60-70 B)... and even on Walking St. (if you can stand it...) there is at least one bar charging just over a pound - 40 B...!

Yes they do. They also sellotape your old simcard to the back of the packaging so you don't lose it.

Sorry to hear that. But NEVER buy baht outside of Thailand. The rate is always much worse than you can get inside the Kingdom.

Also I pre-booked my taxi from Suv Airport to the hostel and it says that taxi driver will be at the arrival hall. But since its so big, would you have any idea what a typical location is for taxi drivers to wait on arrivals?

Yeah. I'm pretty sure the Netherlands is in the visa waiver scheme so just fill in the TM6 form on the plane and you're good for 30 days. The arrivals Hall is massive, try and find out which number exit that they meet you at. There are several points that taxis meet you at.

hi what you forget to mention about exchange uk pound is you will get slightly more from them if you take 50 pound notes strange i know but you get about .25 to 1 baht more which adds up when changing 1 or 2 grand

Good to see you again Tom, I was there a few weeks back. Was totally not impressed with AoT shutting down the smoking room. How much you pay for taxi ? I use Nicha taxi service, she is excellent, really safe driver, and has drinks of your choice in an ice box. I pay 1250b from airport to hotel in Pattaya with Nicha taxi service

The amount of time it takes to walk to the second immigration and then back...because your bags always seem to be on belt 22-26 it’s a bit pointless really. I’ve never stood longer than 15minutes at the first one and you come out without a ten minute walk to collect your bag. Thai sim cards you can get anywhere, i always get mine at the airport. Money exchange is a waste of time, get enough changed before you travel to pay for taxi/hotel then exchange the rest when you get to Pattaya or Bkk, saves the pointless walking around the airport, after travelling 18hours it’s the last thing you want to do!

Yep. You can buy a sim with credit card. I'm not sure which one to recommend for minutes. But true have 1bht a minute for international calls if you dial 00600 before the international code which is really cheap.

@@DD-ss1sl I know debit card fees are a little high for getting cash out of ATM,s although its the same fee if you draw 1000/10000/20000/30000 baht,so it makes sense to draw a higher amount,and pay the same fee,.usually for me it £7 ish per transaction,.i only use cards for money exchange and pay for goods in cash,.

Might want to consider Revolut on your next travels. It allows you to convert into multiples currencies, THB being one of them, conveniently thru your phone.

I lost my Revolut card at the airport in Chiang Mai on my way to Myanmar. I checked that it hadn't been used and stopped it right away. When I got to my hotel in Myanmar, I cancelled the card and ordered a new one. It was waiting for me in Singapore. I'm a Revolut customer for life. Used it all over Mexico just last month.
