Today I've got three AMAZING new experiments!
I can't remember the last time I had This Much Fun with Liquid Nitrogen!
Today I used soap and then a soap bubble mixture and another one with a beaker and a balloon.
You Have To Thumbs Up This Video because it is just that awesome!!!
Thank You So Much!!!

Vinit Yadav Thumbnails or headlines or something that gives you an urge to click it but just leads to garbage or ads or viruses depending on what kind of link it is, and usually does not provide the promised content

I think the bubbles are floating because the air inside them is much warmer then the nitrogen gas and as we all know hot air rises because it is less dense.
@Lornda
@Lornda 7 лет назад
partly right but also pure nitrogen is heavier than air its why the fog/smoke/vapour rolls across the table and does not rise like smoke from a fire. So being heavier the air floats on nitrogen like oil floats on water. =) (The air being warmer means less air particles compared to the cold dense nitrogen per cubic measurement)
@cartermann5148
@cartermann5148 7 лет назад
Gary Calismax Isn't that called the Leidenfrost effect
@Lornda
@Lornda 7 лет назад
the leidenfrost effect is where the temperature difference is so vast a vapour is produced from the item with the lower melting point. I.e water on the hob/stove vaporises and makes a lil pocket of steam between the water droplet and hot surface. Or dipping your hand in liquid nitrogen. the nitrogen will boil and make a pocket of gas. and there is even a nutter on youtube who dips his finger in molten metal. in that case its the oil from his skin that turns into a gas and stops him melting his hand. both are similar in effect. but the floating bubbles is due to density rather than heat differential.
@ExperimentalFun
@ExperimentalFun 7 лет назад
Gary Calismax actually Nitrogen is lighter then regular air, it sinks the ground because its cold
@Lornda
@Lornda 7 лет назад
ah i stand corrected forgive my brain at 4am XD. but it being cold means the molecules are more tightly packed together making it more dense then the surrounding air?

I thought it was because a layer was of gas formed, making the bubble float as it contains air, which is less dense than the gas produced
@pimo123
@pimo123 6 лет назад
It’s bc the liquid nitrogen is colder which means it’s more dense, and the bubbles aren’t as dense as the nitrogen

When water freezes, the volume actually increases, which in turn decreases the density. If in the more dense liquid form, bubbles are able to form, there is no doubt that in the slightly less dense, ice form, they will float.
@ifracosoul1363
@ifracosoul1363 7 лет назад
TheDude er isn't it the other way where when it freezes it decreases in the amount of space taken but density increase while when it becomes water the density decreases and the space taken up is more?
@etraise2
@etraise2 7 лет назад
Water is an exceptional case, because of the polarity of the water molecules, they become aligned in such a way that when they freeze, they separate more, thus increasing volume and decreasing density.

I worked around this stuff and liquid oxygen for a little over 10 years and did some pretty crazy "experiments" with them. Wanna see something cool, put about 4-5 tablespoons of liquid nitrogen in an empty plastic 20oz. Dr Pepper bottle, cap it tightly, lay it down on its side and step WAY back, cover your ears and watch. It'll build up so much pressure in the bottle that it'll stretch the plastic to its limits before it blows. And when it does, it sound like a cannon going off. Gotta be a heavier gauge Sosa bottle. A water bottle won't work as good. Wear a face shield and stand at least 20' away. When it goes, it GOES. I could go on for hours telling you about that stuff...

@shadyganaem5342
@shadyganaem5342 7 лет назад
Emerald Minecrafter lol nah , the reason they deform is because the air inside the bubble gets colder and pressure drops down thus makes the bubble concave , same reason why the balloon got sucked up inside the glass thingy

I'm assuming the bubbles float because the liquid nitrogen is boiling, which evaporates the liquid nitrogen into nitrogen gas. This release of nitrogen gas is probably applying enough pressure to the bottom of the bubbles to keep them afloat.

The bubbles float because the density of Nitrogen gas is higher than the density of the air inside the bubble. Thus creating buoyancy. As soon as it pops you can see that the leftover 'bubble' sinks to the liquid, as air is escaping the former bubble and getting replaced by the nitrogen gas. Making it less and less buoyant.

They float because the density of nitrogen gas is about 1.25 g/L (a little higher in this case because it's so cold) and the density of air (which is inside the bubbles) is around 1.19 g/L. So the less dense bubbles float on top of the cool nitrogen gas- just like oil floating on top of water

The bubbles float because since they are normal temperature they create a cloud of steam keeping them from touching the liquid nitrogen, like the leidenfrost effect.
@extrascript6622
@extrascript6622 7 лет назад
I think the air inside the bubbles is hotter than the liquid nitrogen so it floats. Just a guess tho. ;)

Nitrogen gas is heavier than air, the bubbles are filled with air.
@joepelletier6694
@joepelletier6694 7 лет назад
Extrascript662 is exactly right the cold nitrogen is much denser than the warm air in the bubble, it works exactly the same way as a hot air balloon.
@joepelletier6694
@joepelletier6694 7 лет назад
Vierkant, it is the temperature that accounts for the difference in density and not the composition of the gas. In fact a sample of nitrogen at STP is ever so slightly less dense than air at STP.

I think the reason that the bubbles float is because the vapor pushes the bubbles up, but the weight of the air above keeps them down long enough for them to freeze and then their own weight keeps them down.

The bubbles float in the liquid nitrogen because they are mostly air that you blow into them and the cold gas holds them up because it is more dense.

energy travels in a heteromac formation...bubbles on a string...and so the energy wound through the liquid and formed bubbles so the energy could pass out...all energy runs in a double helix and energy is separate from matter :)

the second experiment is an example for Boyles law. Gas volume and temperature are directly proportional to each other so when one goes down the other goes down

Warm air is less dense than cold air. The (comparatively) warm air inside the bubbles cause them to float on the colder, more dense air near the LN2. Science. It works.

The bubbles float because the air inside is lighter that the gas released by the liquid nitrogen that's also why the gas is not flying away like helium would.
@geodeold3617
@geodeold3617 7 лет назад
the reason the bubbles float on the nitrogen gas is because they are heavier than the air but lighter than the nitrogen gas so it finds the most confortable place and stays there floating on the nitrogen gas until some sort of change happens which will change the mass.
