Friends, hello! here in video cotton paper - SMLT art, A4, 260g. cellulose - Clairefontaine Goldline Aquapad Glued Pad - 70 Sheets Papel Aquarelle Blanc Grain Fin A5 14.8x21 cm, 300 g In general, for other drawings I use Clairefontaine cotton paper.
The key here is the paper. 100% cotton is one. But are you using hot or cold pressed watercolor paper? Is SMLT available in US? What is it comparable to in US? Pls advise and thanks. And thank you for this tutorial. Easily understood.
Hello, friends. This is new for me. And this video was very difficult for me because I don't know English) But now you will know what techniques I use to draw transparent watercolor flowers and other illustrations. I hope for your support and wait for your comments
I have never Iearnt painting. But, now being a housewife I want to paint. I serched a lot about water color. Then suddenly came accha to this channel. Now I love it. Thanks a ton dear!❤
@@tracynonumbers hi, I started with acrylic, then continued with pastel, then switched to markers and pencils (hyperrealism), but then went to watercolor. It is the most understandable for me)
@@tracynonumbers Yeh, but the fact is I'm not choosing it as my profession. I'm a homemaker. After doing housholds, I study for some competitive exams. And sometimes I feel bore. So, painting is just a way to shoot out boredom. If my painting are not well or artistic, it will not affect anything. Isn't it so?!
I am learning to be an adult art teacher and the first thing taught is diversity and inclusionism in classrooms. Lola, thank you for having so much patience with your very diverse student population. Students forget that their teachers are human too. Being brave enough to do this in a language other than your primary is so huge!! I loved these exercises and will put them in my tool box for later. Keep teaching, please. I want to hear more!
Thank you, my friend. You have no idea how difficult it is. And besides my subscribers, with whom I want to share knowledge, I have my own two children and responsibilities as a mother) Yes, people are really do forget that I am an ordinary sensitive person. Be sure to watch this tutorial, there are a lot of useful tips. I just scattered them throughout the video thread, they are not all said at the beginning.Believe me, you won't regret it, there are a lot of life hacks there ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Sc3dyjopRDA.html
Oh my goodness dear Lola, I just saw this and how wonderful to hear your beautiful voice teaching these lovely techniques! I was hoping someday you would give us this gift. You did an awesome job and I hope we get to hear you more in future videos. I know it’s a lot of work for you, but even if you only do it sometimes it would be so so lovely. Thank you so much my friend. Be well!❤️🤗🌸🌼🥀
I have been accused of needing a hearing aid but I had no trouble understanding your charming voice. I enjoyed the video immensely. You do beautiful work and your explanation and demonstration of the process of building up layers with drying in between was great. Please keep sharing. Best wishes.
I just bought some good watercolors, wanting to revisit them. They’ve always been really challenging to me. Something about your video just really “clicked” in my brain. Maybe because you simply got to the point and demonstrated it.Thanks you!
agreed. there was so much less fluff and unnecessary chatter than so many other channels. just calm, information-dense demonstration and instruction from someone with evident skill ❤
Excellent tutorial! I've been watching a ton today and yours are the best! That rose near the end of the video is stunning! I'm not even a floral lover, but that rose makes me happy. l know what I'm doing this weekend!
Hi @Lolaaquarella. Thank you for sharing your technique. I hope you are well and safe in Ukraine. We pray for your country and citizens and hope this ends very soon. ❤
thank you for feedback.Yes, there is a big difference. I wanted to show this for a long time, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it, because I don’t speak English.
@@Lolaaquarella I agree. Cotton is so much better. Your English is wonderful by the way ( I am English and I think your voice is perfect). Ignore the haters - they don't deserve you.
I wonder how many people try to learn watercolour and give up too early because they tried to learn on inferior materials like mixed media or cellulose paper and are dissatisfied with the results, not realizing that the problem is not with the artist but with the inferior materials giving inferior results.
Thank you for your kind lesson. I have never used water colour paint. I have always admired it so stumbling on this lesson has encouraged me to try it. Again... thank you.
Яке чарівне відео! Дякую вам за нього☺️ Дуже приємно було дивитися! Я давно не малювала аквареллю, хоч і люблю цю фарбу, тож ви замотивували мене до неї повернутися❤
Did your finger get stuck on the exclamation key? One would have been more than enough!!!!!!! See, not nice is it? Have a nice day and please stop ‘shouting’ at people 😊
@@harpersmythe658 go eat a burger. Apparently you’re a little upset. When has being excited a crime? It’s a hallelujah moment when all your efforts pay off and you find all the right materials. The devil has you by the ass with all your anger!!!!!!! Skip the burger and ask God to help you!
I have difficulty learning but your teaching style is very good for me. Your calm and clear speaking voice is very soothing as well. I’m subscribing! 👍🏼😊
Thank youyes, I tried to give information without fluff. I like to do everything clearly and to the point) But in general, I really don't like to voice over videos)))))
Thank you for made this video! Today I understood why my paintings looks so different from I wanted to achieve: my paper doesn't have cotton in its composition 😆😂 Kisses from Brazil
Your English was fine. I understood every word. Question: I followed your instructions to the letter and mine didn't turn out like yours. Of course, I'm using Canson mixed media paper and not Arches 100% cotton. Does it really make that much of a difference? I'm getting so frustrated and maybe that's the problem?
Hi, yes, the problem is often in the paper. If wet on dry will somehow work for you, then wet on wet will not work at all. And the layers will not work, since the structure of the cellulose when applying the next layer washes away the previous one and the layering is not as clear and beautiful as we would like. Well, and one more thing. If you are doing this for the first time, then I did not succeed the first time 4 years ago. It's a matter of practice. Good luck and don't give up, you can do it..
@@Lolaaquarella I put down watercolor about 3 decades ago because of frustration with it and stuck with acrylic and oil. I only picked it back up when I wanted to do a travel journal about a year ago. I've ordered proper 140lb 100% cotton hot pressed paper (I prefer that texture and the increase in drying time with less bleed), Should be here tomorrow. I'm sure it will make all the difference. If I can do watercolor on Yupo, then hot pressed will be even better. Thanks for replying!
No one "practices" on whole sheets of cotton paper. Notice the strips. Too expensive. If you are learning, you get some good pulp / cellulose paper (Bockingfor/Strathmore/etc), wet both sides, and let it sit flat for a few minutes. There will be a huge difference when you paint on it. .... btw, yours isn't supposed to look exactly like hers; gotta practice.
All the difference in the world! I was frustrated too until i went for 100 percent cotton. Not arches, a bit too spendy for me, but there are several lower priced brands to choose from
What technique did you use on the pink rose and violet jelly fish was it gradient or layering? Also I appreciate your talent and hardwork👏😊❤and have you ever thought of going into textile industry?
You did a wonderful tutorial here. It was clear, concise and easy to understand while also being lovely to watch. From the very first, I only used the 100% cotton paper. Your results will only be as good as the tools you use. Besides that, you can repair a mistake on cotton paper…any less is just a mess. Thank you for this lovely example.👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👩🏻🎨
Thank you, my friend. My subscribers have been asking me for a long time to create a tutorial explaining the techniques. If it weren't for them, I would never have created it. I hope you found something usable in my video.🤗
Thank you! This is a lovely tutorial. I really appreciate you showing the differences between the type of paper as well. I've recently been wanting to get into watercolors, and this video will help me a lot! 🙂
This was a great video - thank you so much - it was very clear and I liked seeing the difference between cellulose and cotton! PS: your english was just perfect!
Wonderful art lesson! - Very enjoyable! - It is always a pleasure getting new art instructions from a teacher who is obviously very talented and knowledgeable! ~ Thank you, so much, I LOVE your lessons! ~
*Thank you* Lola for your video. It was helpful for me. The wet on dry glazing from dark to light (believe hot pressed cotton paper for illustrators). Very simple but it makes the image "pop out" or, believable. The video was thorough. For some perhaps putting links of material used below the title, down arrow, would avoid replying to the same question of what materials used (still going to have tell commentators to look for info under title). P.s. Gonna say amazed how neat and organized you are. Basically, well, I'm a pig painting (metamorphically :) My pants legs have almost as many brushstrokes as the painting.
Oh, my friend. I want that too! I also want to be in paint and creative chaos)))) But the apartment we live in is rented. The table can't be dirty, the walls must remain white, well, you get it))) If I had my own house, I would do wild things and buy myself a raccoon 😅😂
@@Lolaaquarella Ha, exactly, creative choas mode. Wonder since raccoons have opposable thumb like "fingers" they could taught to watercolor ? Not to mention using their tail as a brush. Just a thought Best
@@Lolaaquarella you’re a fabulous teacher and such a wonderful and talented artist 🙌🏻⭐️. It’s a pleasure watching your videos 🤟🏻. Thank you again; you’re very appreciated. God bless you 🙏🏻🕊xx.
You're welcome, and don't worry if the layers aren't perfect, I have a sea of imperfect layers. When you draw a piece, don't look at the intermediate result. It's often scary. You know how many times I've drawn, stopped in the middle, looked and thought: "Oh God, what an ugly thing." But then I added a layer, and another layer, and then details and everything became as it should be.
Grazie per questo video... mi piacciono molto gli acquarelli, anche se li usavo solo a scuola elementare e medie durante la lezione di arte! 😂 È da un po' che però sto pensando di cominciare ad usarli, lo vedo come un hobby molto rilassante. 😊
Well, I've only been doing watercolors for 4 years now) But before that I used to draw with pencils: ru-vid.com/show-UCPUKXU0gmoQL0NkqS4xPriQ?view_as=subscriber Here in this video are the most basic exercises. Just practice.
Beautiful artworks! I'm glad to see YT started to promote your videos. They deserve to be seen by more people 😍 I watched because if lovely Ukrainian (with a little hint of russian) accent. Your voice is soothing very pleasant ❤ Wishing you inspiration and a delightful mood!
Hello Lola, thank you very much for sharing your technique, it is very useful. What brand and number of brushes do you use please? I would like to start watercoloring with the right tools. Greetings from Belgium 😊
Iryna, thank you for this wonderful video, it's interesting to see how the different types of paper makes such a difference to the result when you paint on them. I used to practice all the techniques I know, onto cellulose paper and the result was always very bad. But then I started buying 100% pure cotton paper and the difference is quite noticable. It makes all the difference in the world when you are painting. Thank you for this video. Iryna, I don't know where in Ukraine you are living, but I am praying for you. I know how terrible things are in Ukraine right now, and my thoughts are with you. Your country is so very, very beautiful and you, and your fellow Ukrainians deserve much better than you are getting right now. I pray that Putin will go back to Russia and leave Ukraine and it's beautiful people alone.
Thank you, my friend. I am from Odessa. It is a city - a pearl by the sea. And my children and I miss that peaceful life very much. But you know, Spain has welcomed us very well. Even before the war, I saw it in a dream, and when I arrived, I recognized those balconies with beautiful flowerpots that I dreamed about. Sometimes I see architecture in my dreams when I sleep, buildings that I have never seen... It turns out that they are simply showing me the place where I will be.🙄
This was a lovely beginner educational video. The only part that I think could be a little confusing was when you did the layering video on the cellulose, and had to return to the shape that was overlapped and paint it again separately. Was there a particular reason you used the cellulose? The sample on the watercolor paper were excellent and I will share the video on my Facebook and hope you get more subscribers!
Thank you, my friend. In this way I wanted to show the tonality. And how it changes based on their density, layers of fabric, or aerial perspective. I wanted to show that not only can one object be darker than another, but also the area that is overlapped by one and another layer is also the darkest) That is, in essence, I created a gradation of tonality.🤪
