My wife and I have owned seven Hondas since 1975. Civics mostly, along with a Prelude and CRX. We sold her awesome ‘98 Civic nine years ago and she really wanted a new 2013 Red Fit Sport. Nine years and 77,000 miles….. it’s been just as phenomenal as all the other Hondas we’ve owned. It’s really not as small as some people think….. roomy and reliable….ugly? Hey, it’s not a beautiful new Accord, but when it’s immaculately clean, that little red car really looks great! And, it’s my wife’s car, but I really enjoy zipping around in it! And yes, I’m SO happy that it’s got a bulletproof five-speed automatic trans, and the car is normally aspirated. We plan to keep it until the wheels fall off…….. and we know that ain’t happening…😂

An entertaining video with the Fit, which my wife drives (2008) and your honest description of driving a r/h steering manual gearbox, lol. Being English, its second nature for me although not with a Celica but a Toyota Avensis 2.0l D4-D, which was a brilliantly smooth company car. Never had any problems with it & regularly achieved 50+mpg.

RAV4s are crazy. We’ve had many of the Generation 1s with well over 200k. Unfortunately living in the rust belt takes it’s toll. No rust on the body but have had frame rust issues after 20 plush years. Engine are under powered but run forever. Excellent in the snow.

Luv. My. '08 Fit. Supremely versatile interior, and you can fit a crazy amount inside if utilizing a reclined passenger seat (2 full sized dressers, 2 nightstands, and a bunch of odds and ends from IKEA). Engine and transmission are same as a Civic so it will last forever with proper maintenance.

The flicker is caused by the lights not being always on but rather flashing at anywhere between 20-60hz. If it either mismatches the camera or is slower than the camera's frame rate the flicker is visible. In houses with LED lights it's because LEDs only use power in one direction of electron flow. On cars it's usually because headlights run on PWM DC which means the power is pulsed 20-60 times a second rather than with AC where it switches backwards constantly.

I will readily admit that many car names in Japan don't translate well outside Japanese culture, but the UK and US use (sorta) the same language. So which name of the Fit/Jazz do you prefer? I find it amusing that the UK name describes a musical genre that is a purely American creation.

Things don't really cost more. It's just that money keeps getting less worthfull, so that you end up having to shovel out more bills and coins, to get the same thing. That $550 back then was worth way more than today's $1000. If the Opel wasn't alot cooler than that clownish-looking Toyota, I'd say, he got a better deal with that $1000 than you did. That Celica's dashboard is amazingly attractive, unlike typical Toyotas. If I'm not mistaken, I can see some Porsche 928 influence, in both the dashboard and the side panel curvatures. I traded in my 2017 Dodge Journey for a 2017 Toyota RAV4. It rides rougher than the Journey, but I feel better driving a Toyota than a Dodge. I listened to your advice Scotty, wanted to say 😊 thanks!

Out of desparation I bought a 2002 Chrysler Sebring for $1,000 6 months ago. I call it the haunted car as I usually hear a different noise every time I drive it- with or without the key in the ignition... So far it does get me from point A to B 🤞

My wife has a 2017 Fit. It's a great city car and gas saver. On city it gets about 36mpg and on highway the average is 42mpg and sometimes 50 mpg. I have a 2006 Rav4 that runs like a champ. I do the maintenance myself which I learned from Scotty, cleaning throttle body, cleaning MAF sensor and other stuff I didn't know I could do. By the way, the Fit and Rav4 don't look stupid at all!!

Bought my first car in 2017. 1998 subaru outback limited with 160,000 miles on it. An older couple had used it to pull their hot dog cart and had a bunch of service records. Paid $350 dollars for it it now has 375,000 miles The only thing i have done is replace the battery and a ball joint. That being said they had the head gaskets changed at 120,000. But still runs like a top!

Personally I think the Honda Fit is a great looking car, super practical and apparently a really good chassis. They even race them in Japan! I have never understood why people drive big, empty trucks around the city, then complain about the price of petrol. 🤦🏻
@mescko
@mescko Год назад
Because the 'government' pretty much legislated big, empty cars out of existence. Regs on trucks are more lax, so they buy big trucks. You'll never get all of us Yanks to drive small cars...it's just how we are.
